We broke down on the final day of our holiday in Cornwall last week. The AA promised to get us and our car home via recovery vehicle. This arrived as promised at 7.45 am and took us as far as Bridgewater, when the driver said he had no further driving time allowed and someone else would pick us up. We waited from 12.30pm until 7.45pm for the next recovery vehicle. During this time the AA - largely unreachable by phone - had promised we would be collected at 4pm, but no one had arrived. This second recovery vehicle loaded us all on board and proceeded to break down about an hour later. We were left at Gordano services in the dark, everything closing down around us, with no offer of completing our further 200 mile journey home to Lancashire. The second recovery driver had recommended I call the AA and insist on a taxi home. Again, it took some considerable time to reach the AA, but a taxi was ordered and we arrived home at around 2am, eighteen hours after originally being picked up. I appreciate it was an extremely busy day, but we had been dumped and abandoned twice. The AA needs to hire more staff and more recovery vehicles instead of leaving people stranded for hours on end. The 'service' we received that day was appalling. We will not be continuing to use the AA and certainly could not recommend it to anyone.

Total and utter shambles! I had a puncture yesterday at 3pm which needs a new tyre. Complete incompetency by AA means I haven’t managed to get away on holiday yesterday evening, and it’s still not fixed! Serious training issue here! Wrong information given by AA call handler. To say I’m upset is an understatement!

Careful the AA like to cancel your cover without notifying you, they are very pushy on trying to get you to renew your cover each year, had big problems with theses all because I didn't want to renew, they robbed me of some cover that I had payed for becarful

The AA run on a 48 hour backlog, do not join, youre better spending your money elsewhere. Leaving long haul breakdowns in dangerous situations. We have broken down from Scotland to Suffolk. Being left without any information when the next relay driver will be likely to arrive and having called at 6pm, it’s now 4am the next day and we’re only two hours down the road from our initial location. Without information on when the next driver is likely to arrive you are unable to rest, let alone feel comfortable or safe. The customer service team and disingenuous and tell lies to get you off the phone. This is by far one of the worst services I’ve ever received and having been a loyal customer 12 years, this is the first use of the breakdown cover and I’m appalled. Shame on you AA

I have to wait 1.5 hours for a patrol to come out that's acceptable but I have now been waiting just short of 4 hours for a recovery truck I have been told that nothing available yet. They need to up their game now we're coming out of any restrictions for travel. Sad that you can leave a 65 year Old man who had a major heart operation and who's suffering with copd at the side of the road for that length of time

I will never use AA again, they are the worse customer service ever. They cancelled my ticket without previous notification and i had to buy another ticket costing me triple the amount...i will never use their service again. I will make sure that my family do not use their service as well.. i will tell even my friend about my experience so they will not use their service as well

If you need to claim when you call them all they do us put you through or give you phone number of business they have insured you with They take no responsibility for the quality of the service you receive My window screen had a crack across my vision line. I called AA who gave me LV insurance number who gave me glass repair number. This company took my excess payment saying they could come out in 2 days and then emailed me to say it would be 2 wks time and it would take 2 wks to refund excess. I rang AA to ask for help as car not safe yo drive to work and they gave me another number to call I asked them to do more to help me and call me back They called me and could do nothing about excess and just wanted to give me another number to call but hadn't checked if they could offer an earlier appointment WHY AM I PAYING PREMIUM BRAND PRICES FOR INSURANCE WHEN ALL AA DOES IS GIVE ME A PHONE NUMBER TO ARRANGE THINGS MYSELF? I might as well pay less and insure direct with company whose phone number AA gave me! Don't use them it is a total con as they are a broker and take no responsibility or action when you receive poor service from the businesses they have introduced you to.

Have been a member for a number of years now paying £25 a month for the top cover, This was the first time ive need to call on them. Called the AA because my car would not start Monday morning, I get a call 11.40pm to say they were on there way, after waiting in all day at this time i was in bed. Monday phoned again to report my breakdown to be told the patrol would be with me at 6.05pm, So i finish work early, but yet again no show. I have now been waiting 2 days for someone to come out. Having been on the phone again ive now been told they have no idea when a patrol will be able to attend, and it will probably be tomorrow (3rd day waiting) Part of the delay is they seem to think the car will need a new battery and as they don't carry them there's no point in attending after 6pm. This i find baffling as they have not asked for any information on the breakdown and in fact the battery is fine. You do not expect this sort of service from a company the size of the AA.

Well I have a big complaint as I would have recommended them if it had nit been the terrible service I have received from the support service online and be of the drivers. The first incident was last week Friday when my car started having rattling sounds. Called AA, I give it to them they were quick on arrival but when he told me it may common problem. This driver did t check the oil he then advised I gave that seen as soon as possible. Drove around and then hours later I decided to check oil and other things/ coolant. I only to find my engine was dry to the touch. No oil at all… and the engine didn’t indicate it! I called again AA and informed them of the situation with car and the service I had received and the other driver and they sent another driver who insisted that it must be a leak in the car he took cover under cover and was no leak I stood and watched as he seemed to work on my car then put 2 litres of oil which I was invoiced £30. Then it drove home to Luton had it looked at by the mechanic. Was due to get looked at on Monday 05 as I drive was checking oil and water. That was resolved. The problem o have is that I drove my car after the first response with no oil and he didn’t check it! This is what caused the damage to my car.

I called this morning at 8am. Now, it is 21:18, we are a family with young kid have changed two trucks and still in middle of no where waiting for the 3rd truck to turn up,which is supposed to be here 40 mins ago. Now we have to wait 20 minutes for a taxi and our car won’t get home tonight. The whole thing is badly organised. All this for a 3 hour journey home.

I have had my joint cover renewal quoted as£206 from £148 last year. Online quote for a new customer is £120. Joint cover with onward travel. No claims. On calling to cancel, after listening to music for 25 minutes, a person answered and informed me that customer service is very busy now and could not take my call. I asked who he was and he said his job was to tell the customer that someone would call back, he didn't have access to any files to make changes. 2 days later and no call. No way to cancel the renewal online, as I have been trying. Do they not think we are busy too and don't have the time to waste making useless calls. Now I will have to call again and repeat myself, who is going to pay for my wasted time.

Been with the AA for years on the one time I need them after my car broke down an I had to push on my own to somebodys driveway in the torrential down pours last night I was told cause of my policy I had to pay another 49 pound before they would help. So no thanks. I always thought the customer was the member not the car you drive. Good job I was not hundreds miles away. My good friends towed me to safety. Fine tooth comb is needed for your AA policy as when you need them could cost you.

Just to rub salt into my wounds, after flattening my car battery in a shopping centre car park, by leaving my headlamps on. I was then accused of bribery by an AA van driver who was about 4 spaces and a car length away. He would have lost his job apparently. Sacked because he helped start up someone's car. What kind of shambles is this anyway. Stick yer AA and yer job where the sun don't shine.

Dont go with them. They take ages to answer phones, and the patrol men are alot to be desired. Cheeky, moody. They lied about me being abusive to them, which I certainly did not. Due to the lies I have been banned from the aa. That's terrible. They treat customers like rubbish. Dont use them!!

Very hard to speak to any one, charge you for any changes which eventually makes the cost dearer than other companies. Would not use the AS again. I expect problems when my policy ends. Beware!!!

When ringing staff are not very help full , changed Vehicle details paperwork still came through with old details on , tried telling them I don’t owe this vehicle any more, you would not think this was difficult information to sort out , wish I had just cancelled the policy 😡 not happy
