Booked a service and MOT through AA Smart Care. They failed to replace oil filter correctly, subsequent leak and breakdown. Took car to trusted garage who was shocked by poor workmanship of the AA Smart Care servicing centre. So far have been refused any refund or compensation for subsequent repairs... so my advice is do not use this 'service', book at a garage you know instead.

Absolutely shocking service ..my van broke down in Lytham so needed towing to Manchester .. phoned at 2.30 pm waited 2 hours to be told they couldn't fix it ..waited another 3 hours for a tow truck which duly dumped me at Rivington services waited another 2 hours for the tow truck .. and that would of been longer if I hadn't phoned them and kicked off ...I was told by the operater to get a taxi home and leave my van keys behind my tyre so it could be towed the next day ...really with all my tools in the van ..a total shambles by the AA luckily my renewal is up next month wich is close to £200 lol ..what a joke company

AA WILL LEAVE YOU STRANDED for 8 HOURS…. I HAD TO ABANDONED MY CAR Yesterday (15/09/21 at approx. 18:30), my car broke down on a dual carriageway and I phoned AA breakdown to hopefully repair it and if this couldn’t happen, then I would be happy for my car to be towed home as it was too late to take it to a local garage at the time. They explained that there was major delays locally and said breakdown assistance would not arrive until 19:50. When nonone arrived at 19:50, I phoned back AA which they then said there were further delays and would come at 20:50. So I waited again. The breakdown service came about 20:43 but didn’t bother looking or asking me what the problem was. They towed my car to a local BP garage and then told me someone will be coming in 30 mins to try to repair the vehicle. Then a technician (LJ Recovery & Repair) arrived nearly 2 hours later and shined a torch in the hood of my car, asked me a series of questions which I answered and he responded saying this is a recovery job and that there is nothing they can do. I then called AA to complain - they said there is not much they could do at this point. They told me I SHOULD HAVE READ THE TERMS & CONDITIONS then I would have understood the process. I called again to complain as I was stranded and did not have the means to sort out my car recovery on my own. I call again at approx 11:26 then log a new call for recovery to come and collect my vehicle. I was initially told LJ Recovery would come at 2:25. I did not receive any regular updates from AA or LJ recovery. NO ONE came to collect me or the vehicle so I ended up abandoning my car at 2:30am. A lady on her own, it was such a cold night and I had been so tired due to waiting so long. I eventually called someone to collect me. I am prepared to share my story with every news outlet/Watchdog available. I do not think this should ever happen to paying customers. AA are liars, scammers and manipulators.

Vexing. They are more interested in checking that your tax is up to date than helping with a breakdown. Even the DVLA allows you a grace period before acting like complete jerks. Also pretty clueless.

We arranged a collection by AA after breaking down for 2 days in advance. We were picked up at 9am and the AA driver said he was taking us home. 2 hours into the journey we were abandoned at a service station and told a further vehicle would be arriving in 30 minutes. When it hadn't arrived after 60 minutes we contacted the AA who advised us the wait was at least 6 hours. We were then collected and taken to another service station and told we might be there all night. ABSOLUTELY APPALLING SERVICE DO NOT USE

The Claims Department refused to pay for the garage work on my break down repair cover by claiming that when my vehicle broke down I did not tell them that the vehicle had broken down due to a dead rear ECU and brake caliper. I was told by the AA Claims Department that in my intial breakdown phone call i had simply told them that my car lost power and would not start. I challenged this explaining that I was not a mechanic and could not have known why the vehicle had broken down. Actually even the AA mechanic who attended was unable to get the car started to do any diagnostics. In fact he didn't even attempt to do so ! He simply looked in the engine and saw that the serpentine belt was broken. The AA were only willing to cover the cost of having a new belt fitted. They were insistent that I had never given the ECU and brake caliper as being the reason why I had broken down. The AA seem to think that the customer should carry out their own diagnostic test before reporting the reason for breakdown!! Ridiculous!!!!

Left for 4 hours on hard shoulder. No recovery trucks available and no patrol van came. Highways towed me off motorway. AA got me a taxi after telling me recovery would be with me after midnight. I called them at 6.30pm and I have full cover! Left the keys for the keys with Tescos as instructed but noone could find them the next day! Ended up they had given them to another AA patrol technician who was in for something else! Hopeless!

The absolute worst customer service I have ever encountered. I paid extra for home recovery to have a van come out, shrug at me, and turn off the fault light! Which came back on as soon as I turned the engine on and I then had to get my car to a garage myself! Despite paying for this very reason. When I sent a complaint I received one response which has said that the agent did checks on the oil and coolant levels in the car, a road test, and that I signed to agree all of this. When I had asked what I needed to sign, I was told there was nothing to sign. Which means the agent fraudulently signed on my behalf! And none of these tests were done! The end of this one and only email regarding my complaint said that it was their final decision - despite no one discussing this me to hear that it isn’t true - and that if I wanted I could report them to an ADR provider, but that they would ignore it! Absolutely appalling. I will be cancelling as I assume I won’t be getting the money back and have basically paid £50 to watch someone shrug

Had an AA warranty with a used car, warranty did not cover the broken regulator on the window, only the motor, so completely pointless warranty. Please do not trust any company offering an AA warranty, as these are worthless.

I am absolutely appalled by the service we have received from the AA today. Our car broke down at 2.30pm just outside of Barnsley, and we are still stuck now over 160 miles from home over 10 hours later. The customer service shown from the AA has been DISGRACEFUL and I would NOT recommend them. The AA have a lot to answer for.

Absolute joke, diagnosed battery was a problem when it was the alternator. They get commission for battery sales. Then advised to go to there “mates” garage to get the problem fixed. They ordered the wrong part, no car for the 2 nd day. Do not buy!!

Absolutely shocking customer care. Our car is still sat on our drive, nearly three weeks after an accident. We have done all the chasing, between the AA and repair shop. The AA seem incapable of organizing a replacement car. Big mistake using this lousy outfit. You live and learn.

Disgusting customer service. Last night car broke down, and we called their services at 11:00, they promised to come by with a recovery truck at 12:00 and only arrived at 2:00 leaving us stranded in the highway for over 3 hours. Offered a taxi service to drive us home afterwards, Was promised the taxi at 4, which changed to 5, then 6 and finally arrived at 7. We were waiting for a second taxi for almost two hours after the first one left. We were kept waiting and waiting and had to make continuous calls to the company (AA), who were extremely unhelpful and kept promising times that they did not keep to. I do understand that their company are very busy but it was completely ridiculous how they kept delaying the times without even notifying us. We finally arrived home at 12:00 at night after spending the whole day waiting for the AA to do it’s job. From Kumar (they also charged us for every single calls for recovery truck after already paying 3 times yesterday to now)

I have been with the AA for 2 months and I called back 5 times to make sure I was covered for everything, to which they confirmed I was. My car was badly damaged during a police incident where i was a bystander, the police closed the road and i was unable to move my vehicle. As a result I claimed on my insurance and the advisor stated that my car would be deemed as a 'write off,' I had to argue that my car needed to be taken to storage and eventually it was. Despite previously calling 5 times to confirm i was covered in the event of any incident, i have been told I do not have the Car Hire Add On (which is free). I was then told, despite being Fully Comprehensive that I am not eligible to drive other cars without being a Named Driver as I am now classed as 'not having physical access to a vehicle' even though my car has not been confirmed as a write off by a mechanic. It has been 12 days, I have no access to a vehicle, had no updates despite calling every day. Today after an hour on hold to the engineering team, they confirmed that my car is still in storage and the storage company refused access to my vehicle when the AA attempted to recover it... the AA have left my car there and not attempted to recover my vehicle since. In my 6 years of driving, I have never been involved in any accident or claim. The way I have been treated is absolutely disgusting and I have contacted Trading Standards and The Ombudsman.
