Awful!!! Waited 4 hours for recovery with a 10 month baby for then to be told by the mechanic i need to call AA again and ask for a recovery truck. I was infomed an hour later recovery will be with me in 30 mins for them to arrive 3 hours later. Total time taken 7 hours!! Arrived home at 2.30am!!! Bearing in mind i informed AA over and over again i have a baby and 2 other small children. No empathy and no prioritisation. I was informed by their staff i should arrange my own arrangements to get home with my young children!!!!! Pay a little more and use RAC. Don't be expecting a recovery truck on their initial call out. They send out local mechanics. Their staff are rude and lack any customer support they should be trained in! Don't trust the app. Time is extended 5 mins everytime and before you know it a few hours have passed!!!

4th emergemcy seevice? More like 4th world. I was told they were busy and to expect a wait. A little.over 2 hours a flatbed shows up sits in his cab, tells me he has been stood down and promptly leaves. The app tells me 5 mins... then 5 more etc... so i speak to an operator. 4 hour wait. Almost bang on 4 hours get a phonecall told be a further 3 to 5 hour wait. I have now been waiting 10 hours from my original call and cam exoevt to be seen as things stamd in the next 2 and a half hours. Pretty sure i could have bloosy walked homenin 12 and a half hours. Why am i oaying for this?

daughter’s car was checked by a patrol, due to overheating, stated safe to drive-just needed coolant and oil. Car severely overheated on the motorway blowing head gasket so NOT safe to drive. Patrolman now lying and staying he told us it was unsafe to drive and should go straight to a garage! Really? What parent being told that, would send their 20 year old daughter on the motorway to drive 200+ miles?! Ludicrous. I am utterly disgusted with his behaviour and as he failed to give us a written/emailed report on the day apparently that’s tough on us! She only had the car 6 months -bought from a main dealer -she’s a GB athlete and needs her car for training etc-absolutely appalling treatment. What’s happened to the AA? We’ve been loyal customers for 25 years and always been very satisfied with the service but this patrolman not only did not know his job but then lied to the detriment of an unfunded hard working young lady .

What the AA don’t tell you - if it is a long journey home and you need recovery they split the journey as the recovery companies they out source the work to only work within specific geographical boundaries, we needed recovery to take us home (2 hours away) we got left by one recovery vehicle at a petrol garage by the side of the road and waited 4 hours with no communication for the next recovery vehicle. I was with my 4 year old daughter, even apparently as a priority being with a young child we were left for 4 hours. We were advised by the AA that they have no response times after you have been left somewhere by a recovery vehicle on route to your destination, therefore if it’s a long journey you can be dropped off and left for hours on end at various places. Appalling service.

Cannot recommend. Been a customer of the AA for several years now and they have been good up until my most recent experience, even if it can take a couple of hours for someone to get to you. I needed assistance on 03/08/23 however they wouldn't come out for me as the vehicle had previously been SORN (but was now taxed). Unfortunately they wouldn't accept proof that I had taxed the vehicle and instead now default to DVLA's delayed system which takes a couple of days to show the correct information - penalising customers for DVLA's database being out of date is a bit unfair I think. Ultimately I was left stranded and had to decide whether to proceed in a vehicle which was potentially dangerous or sort out my own recovery arrangements. They provided me with a recovery quote approx 150 miles home for over £700 which was just ridiculous.

My parents in their 70s are gold star members of the AA, and have been for 40 years. My dad's car became irreparable when on holiday in Sussex and he tried to book a recovery to Liverpool (which he pays £340 a year to be covered for). The AA patrol man named 'Josh' convinced my dad to take it to a local garage that 'was a mate of his mums' without telling my dad that if he did this he would not then be able to claim the free recovery back to Liverpool. The garage could not repair it and charged £130 for the privilege. The AA then told my dad that they would charge him £1500 to recover it back to Liverpool as it now counted as a 'second call out'. This is a total scam. I also hear from friends and family that this is common experience with the AA - their patrol men have side deals with local garages whilst also avoiding recovery despite customers paying large sums for this service. What are customers actually paying for???

Your official from the road assistance section said I must go and suck my thumb. My membership number is 511270852. If you want communication I had with him today, 3 August 2023 I can forward it to you as evidence of how unprofessional and arrogant he is. Instead of giving me service which I deserve as a member in good standing he sent me from post to pillar and that culminated to him hailing me with insult in the form of, 'go and suck your thumb'. That is what this person refer to as service to customer. Surely he has no clue about customer care and how detrimental his utterances to the AA

Mrs Mis-fuelled at a major supermarket forecourt. 17 hour wait for a fuel drain as the AA can’t do it. 4 hour wait for a tow back to the house.

Dreadful… be careful… if it’s “not a breakdown” they will charge you eye watering money after wasting 40 minutes of your time on the phone “collecting all the information” before telling you the cost of recovery. Whilst you wait in a life threatening situation at the side of a 60mph road… I did a green flag recovery on their app during the AA phone call and was home safe and sound FOR FREE within 25 minutes of reporting my “accident” go with green flag all day long!!!

I changed jobs to a hgv driver after telling the aa car insurer they wouldn't insure me for driving other vehicles unless I took out a new policy and it went from £300 ish to over a £1000 they said the under writers don't allow professional drivers to drive other vehicles but I could take a new policy out and it was very expensive I went to a new insurer Churchill and I am full comprehensive and can drive other vehicles and I go brake down with green flag all for £385.95 it looks like the as discriminate against professional drivers

Poor call handling, passing me from department to department, not logging a call out when they said they would. Breaking down is stressful enough and they are supposed to reduce not increase stress. I must have wasted 1 hr on the phone to them. And what a pain in the back side having to listen to all their info messages over and over again, also each department way to quick to try and pass me on. Then with mobile networks not being so great you get cut off and have to listen to all that garbage again. I want to speak to a person not listen to stupid music and info message. How hard can it be. (This problem Couldn't be solved via the app).

So much for the AA complementary 'Accident Recovery' service. Having stood at the side of a busy main road for 35 minutes going through all the details of my not-at-fault car accident in excruciating detail, I was then told that recovery would cost me nearly £400. I terminated the call and googled a local recovery company who outsource to National Breakdown. I was recovered to my home within an hour for £126. I will be cancelling my AA membership.

Truly abysmal. I pay for a premium package and it took them 10½ hrs and 2 different trucks to get me the 25 minutes drive from where I broke down on the M4 to Bristol. Go with a small independent breakdown service, they rely on their reputations. I'll be switching as soon as my cover is up for renewal.

I received an 'out of the blue' a 'no-reply' notice telling me that the AA were going to renew my motor insurance policy. To cancel my policy I had to wait in a PRIORITY queue for 30 plus minutes to talk to talk to the AA and eventually gave up after 45 minutes The AA is obviously making it difficult to cancel a policy , otherwise one could have responded immediately to cancel the policy if the AA email was not a No Repy email. I will never use the AA again for any of their services, if their PRIORITY telephone service is indicative of how the rest of their business performs, then I have made the right decision Jeff Redmayne

Been paying for 3 years, first time I needed to use them and what a joke. First they send a mechanic who did more harm than good, trying to unlock the electric steering wheel, forcing it even....then called a mate to come and change the lock, quoting me the price!!! When I said I didn't want anyone to do the work, and request the tow to my garage, I was told at least a 4 hour wait but most likely next day. They kept sending texts to delay the ETA, and in the end I gave up and called a private recovery service to tow the car. Will be cancelling the policy fisrt thing in the morning.

We broke in the middle of nowhere. Called the AA last night at 10:30pm they keep delaying our pick up, it is now 14.5 hours waiting and still have to wait another 2.5h... Staff making mistakes, truck made a mistake to find us, run out of time and had another job so they left us again waiting. This is ridiculous and we paid over £300... This is fraud. Absolute disaster. I DO MOT RECOMMEND THEIR SERVICES. Waste of money, time and energy...
