I got the worst experience of AA employee today ... today my car battery got dead next to AA van... i asked for borrow jumper leads for only 2 mins and i was with my family and it was tooo cold ... and employee of AA said you have to pay for a year fees of AA otherwise i will not give you jumper leads .. he stayed there for around 20mins but didn't give us a single cable .. our second car was also there but jumper leads was missing ... so, after that i understand that AA are unhuman... i dont think so, that AA employee was human... worst worst inhuman manner... officals needs to say sorry behalf of them ... at that time i was without my bank card that is why not able to pay for a year membership ... and he literally said that i will not help you ... my family was shacking due to cold

My daughter who is 20 called The AA for roadside assistance when her electrics went on her car. They came out quite quickly but she was then told by the guy who came out that he had run out of time so he left her there!!!! He said someone else would come but no idea when. It was dark and cold and not safe. The journey home would only have been 30 minutes. Absolutely appalling service.

Absolutely awful company. Would not recommend what so ever. Can’t wait till my contract is up so I never have to give them another penny ever again!! Dreadful

I made a couple of errors on the original application and they were discovered piecemeal each time resulting in a swingeing and unjustified increase in premium. I am not a young man and made the errors in good faith. I will not use the company for any product

This is my experience of the AA One hopes and expects that our breakdown service will help take the stress out of a very stressful situation. Unfortunately, I was with the AA. Although I pay for full coverage they did not provide a car for the three days promised. This is the second time the AA let me down in this way. Having spoken to several people it would seem to us that the AA will do everything they can to wriggle out of their commitments and it is clear that they have utter contempt for their loyal customers. I have found that Green Flag is cheaper, more friendly, altogether more user-friendly and fulfil their commitments without argument. The AA, on the other hand, seem not care when you say you are going to leave. I suppose they have the biggest slice of the market and therefore feel they can afford to be complacent.. In several phone call i was told i could not have a car, they did not explain adequately why.. I made a complaint and after much stress, several phone calls and many emails and two months later they have now just admitted they were in the wrong and I should have been given the hired car for 72 hours. The compensation you offered was an insult and showed the total disregard they have for their customers. It did not even cover the cost of hiring a car let alone anything else. And of course, did not help me at the time...a very stressful time.

Broke down on a slip road to a dual carriageway, so should get quick response. 1 hour and a half and still waiting. Going to cancel membership if I make it home.

Purchased extended warranty plus gold star breakdown cover. My daughter put £10.00 petrol in a diesel car, broken down. Called the AA after 3 different depts told that the charge would be £250.00. I searched and the first company rather smaller than the AA covers Misfuelling cover in the UK. Nothing more to be said really, will not use the AA again.

Hi AA what a mistake changed my two cars to the AA one OK nothing but problems with the second. Call centre hard to contact. Contacts do not call back as promised. Contacts seem unable to handle any problem. Contacts only interested in extra charges ( even get the amount wrong) so when paid ask for more. Very poor company

Roadside assistance excellent, but their customer service is 0 out of 10. Make sure your membership has not elapsed as their reminder service to renew leaves a lot to be desired. Cost me a lot to find that out and months for them to reply. You get fobbed off with 'they have followed the correct procedures', which basically are not fit for purpose. They think you a trying it on to get something out of them. RAC much better service overall.

So I have been driving around for a week not knowing I was uninsured and I still had to pay a settling fee!! Fuming does not quite cut it

I had broken down in and an engineer was sent out. He said he was unable to change the wheel as I didn’t have the lock and key available at that time. He then called for a truck. Whilst we waited he tried to use tools on the car to try and remove the tire himself. When I arrived at the dealership they said he had damaged my car lock, and they were unable to use their key lock to remove the wheel. So a simple tire change over £400 due to the engineer damaging my vehicle. On another occasion I had another issue in regards to the call handler being unable to transfer me correctly. I spent one hour trying to get though for the call to end. I then spend another 40 minutes trying to get though again, at this point I was fed up and had enough. I was locked out of my vehicle and asked for an engineer to be sent to me. I was then told I had to pay an additional cost as I wasn't 1 mile away from my home. Both experiences has left me out of pocket and the AA have accepted no responsibility for this. I have cancelled my membership and will not ever be using the AA again. They are very quick to take your money and just as quick to take no responsibility for their auctions.

If you get your battery replaced on the battery replacement then be aware the guarantee isn’t worth the paper it’s written on. If you don’t cover 5000 miles per year minimum it’s invalid as I have just found out. My battery was replaced by the aa approximately 18 months ago now it’s flat.it had a 5yr guarantee but because of low mileage the warranty is invalid so beware you people who don’t go far or in classic cars go elsewhere for your batteries and look at the small print for the rest

BEWARE THE STUCK ARGOS DRIVER AND HIS MATE FROM THE AA. Last Friday I had a pleasant evening out and returned home at about 10.30 to find the single track public road to my property blocked by an Argos van and an AA van. Neither made any effort to let me through saying they would finish their paperwork first. When they had finished the Argos driver told me his sat nav had taken him up the road to my house (he is the only driver I have ever found who has a sat nav showing that road) and he had tried to turn his long wheel base van round in a 12ft lane but hadn't done any damage. When daylight broke the next day the roadside in front of my gate was reminiscent of the Somme, the gate to my property was open and the ramps enabling disabled access to the garden had been prised up and left chucked in the mud on the side of the public road. These two men had not only been trespassing on my property but snooping round in the dark helping themselves to anything they thought useful. I have written to the MD's of both Companies but have no doubt they are far too grand to deal with me and will delegate to some underling. Watch this space and watch your belongings if Argos get stuck outside your gate and call the AA

Had a steering fluid leak, could not steer so called the AA. When the mechanic came, he told me that he ‘did not know where to start’ and would not even attempt to repair the leak. Told me to drive to a garage a few miles away, despite the fact that it was next to impossible to drive the car (over 2 tonnes!). As I had no option (apart from leaving the car where it was: I was not given the option of tow or recovery ‘that day’) I ended up driving the car to the garage. When they inspected it they found that a jubilee clip had come undone, ‘a simple job of 5 minutes, but would be easier using a jack’. They were shocked that A: the AA mechanic did not find it, let alone fix it (‘an easy roadside repair’) and B: he had got me to drive the car (apart from very dangerous, totally illegal). By the way, if you wish to complain, you have to wait for 8 weeks for a response (apart from an acknowledgment of receipt). And yes, I am a ‘gold member’. They are not what they seem, unfortunately

Can’t be trusted!! Can’t be trusted!! My wife’s car broke down after dark on a busy country road in heavy rain. The AA refused to attend because she was lucky enough to stop on a garage forecourt which was much safer than the roadside. The AA said that they will not recover from a garage forecourt, even though the garage was closing. She was told by the AA that she should have stopped at the side of the road or in (an even darker) side turning. Fortunately a family member was able to rescue her. This was important as she was on her way home from Addenbrooke’s hospital. I will never use the AA again- they cannot be trusted!

Ha pretty sure all of the bad reviews have been deleted or hidden! Nothing but stress with them today!! .... we broke down at 2pm And They first sent a van (after an hour and half) even though we said it was the clutch that had gone and it can’t be fixed. Then we had to wait a further hour and half for a recovery truck that would only take us to Uttoxeter services (20 mins down the A50 from where we were and then they said the next recovery would t get to us until 7pm from 5pm! Baring in mind I had two young kids. I ended up cancelling the recovery truck at 5:30 and organised Pooles Towing & Recovery (who also AA second tier, and every then AA wouldn’t authorise them to help) to get us who showed up within 20 mins!!!
