“The unroasted chilis arrived in perfect condition. It is hot out there so it was a wise decision to opt for the two day shipping. The chilis were delicious. I have already used them to make several dishes. Great service.”

“I order green Chile every year after moving away from New Mexico. The Hatch Chile Store shod fresh Chile to me in Tennessee. Because if the weather, I had a few chiles that were unusable. I emailed them and I was shipped a 5 lb replacement so fast! I love green chile!”

“Green Chiles are impossible to find in NYC (affordable anyway). The GC store is amazing. They arrive fresh and ready to roast. Amazing flavor. Why are you reading this…Ditch the cans and eat fresh local chiles!!!!!!!!!!”

“I've never been to NM, but my spouse went to college there. She 'corrupted' me into the Hatch chile society. I ordered 25 pounds and got the 2 day shipping. It arrived in not so good of shape. I weighed out 6 pounds that spoiled. After a couple of emails and pictures sent, the Hatch Chile Store sent an ENTIRE new 25 pounds the very next week! Those arrived perfect and I could not be happier with the amazing customer service!”

“the box was damaged by Fed X, so it was never delivered. I also dont like the Tuesday shipping you do. The 10 pound box was supposed to be delivered on a Thursday, but i found out that if the box was not damaged, it would have been delivered on a Saturday. thats too long to wait. Also the cost to ship is higher than the cost of the chilies.”

Hi Sandra, It doesn't look like you ever reached out to our customer service team about this issue. If we don't know about the issue, we don't have the chance to fix it. Each week we ship on Tuesdays so that the vast majority of our orders are received on Thursday/Friday, allowing folks to roast their chile over the weekend. Unfortunately, the shipping rates on our website are what the carrier is charging for shipping, there is no markup. Upon pulling up your order, I noticed that you selected ground shipping. On our shipping page, we clearly state which services we guarantee for fresh chile. You opted for ground, which has a warning that it may spoil in transit. Most customers receive their chile in good condition with ground shipping, so we provide it as an option, but we give that warning about spoilage. There is also a pop-up that customers have to click through, which warns against opting for anything less than 2-Day Air if they are going to order fresh chile for shipment. We are more than happy to set up a reshipment since FedEx did not deliver your package. If you would like to upgrade to the 2-Day Air to guarantee your chile. Please let us know so that we can get that reshipment set up! Thanks, The Hatch Chile Store

“My husband is from New Mexico originally, we live in West Virginia now, and order fresh chile from Hatch every year. We pay for the extra shipping costs and the chile arrives fresh and ready to roast.”

“They arrived fast and fresh. When chilies are fresh, they blister and peel easier than older chilies(like the ones in stores).These chilies blistered and peeled easily. Made the whole house smell like chilies until I got them canned.”

“I ordered a box as a gift for my daughter. I purchased the fastest delivery method.She opened the box within an hour of arrival. The chiles in the box were a rotten soggy mess so she threw them and the leaking box in the trash. When I asked if she had received her gift a few days later it was too late to take a photo. Of course I called to report the issue and was told there had to be a photo. No photo — no replacement. So how is the recipient of the gift supposed to know to take a picture of the rotten box of chiles? Your representative that I spoke to was intractable. Will you make this right? PS this is not the first year I’ve ordered from your company.”

Hi Lannie, It is our company policy to document any spoiled chile before sending a free reshipment. This is simply the best way for us to standardize all fresh order reshipments and prevent our free reshipment policy from being taken advantage of. We hope that you can understand the reasoning behind this. We do include the following texted, bolded, on each deliver notification email "Please let us know if the box was damaged or there is anything wrong with the delivery by replying to this email. If your order arrived spoiled or damaged please snap a few pictures. We take customer service very seriously!" It looks like in this instance, we did make an exception and set up a free reshipment for you. Was there something more we could have done here? Thanks, The Hatch Chile Store

“This was our first time purchasing the green hatch chiles and the experience was fantastic. They came on time and the peppers were fresh and in great shape. My wife and I roasted and peeled all 10 pounds, portioned them out, and froze them. We have been incorporating them into some of our dishes, quesadillas, tacos, etc., and they are delicious. To me, their taste is noticeably different from other peppers I have tasted. I thought they would be just "another" pepper, but they were not. We like spicy so we ordered the hot ones, but we didn't find them too hot. They had a nice "bite" to them-just right. All in all, these were fantastic and I can't wait for our next 10 pounds of red hatch chiles to arrive in late summer.”
