Sold me Nexus 5x. 7 months later it broke. Returned it to get fixed. One year no contact from Handtec side. They refused to fix my phone because the warranty had ran off while it stayed in their warehouse. I wrote negative review on trustpilot. Got threatened to remove or they won't resolve my issue. I have filed a police report as well. Stay away from this company.

Please do not be fooled like I was with the 5* reviews from TrustPilot. After looking through them, it's very obvious that they are either bots or paid individuals which TrustPilot should seriously sort out. Like with so many other people here. I waited an excessive amount of time for them to receive and test my phone I was selling. Then was offered below the quoted price (has anyone actually received their quoted price?). This almost bait and switch tactic is at least not legally advisable and at most straight up illegal. I'm certain that trading standards would have a field day with these people. They failed to provide proof of so called scratches to the device that their "engineer" found, instead being deliberately avoidant and ignoring my questions and demand for proof, eventually after a lot of back and forth, they had told me that they were sending it back to me as they could not prove the damages, pathetic response. Thankfully and very luckily, I received the exact same phone back with no new damages, however I am aware there are many reviews on here where they received either a different device back, a damaged version of their device or even in some cases both! After some light digging, you can see that their address to send to is a PO box with a postcode that apparently has been out of service for years as you cannot locate it on maps. Their "office" is just a house in the local area. You can also see that this is mostly a one man operation rather than having a "team". All very misleading with trying to build a picture to customers and potential customers of a fully fledged business that has been going for "almost 20 years", what a load of rubbish. The Terms & Conditions on their site is also very damning, having the gall to list contact details for Citizens Advice and other legal advice services. Clearly they think that they are above the law. They also talk about a £30 charge for returning the item to you however I can see based on the real reviews that this is only sometimes enforced, holding your phone/device at ransom, and forcing you to accept a lower quote. I imagine this is there for people who they think they can extract money from more easily. The only positive I can state is that my device was returned back to me in around 24 hours and in the same condition. But I think this was more to do with the fact that my device was slightly obscure with none others in stock on their site, and because I had called them out on their misquote. Either way, it was horrible after seeing the real reviews, waiting for potentially a broken or ruined phone which I would lose a lot more money on. I can't tell you how relieved I was to have it back in one piece (despite the lazy and incompetent packaging "effort"). There is a large number of other worrying and very questionable things on the company that I found. But I'm sure eventually it will all catch up to them and they can be exposed as the cheating people/person they really are. If you absolutely must use this business to sell your phone/device. Please take lots of photos of it before hand and note/document any unique serial numbers and do not be afraid to call them out on this. Also be aware of the risks and read reviews on them across a number of review sites. It seems buying from them may be slightly better as an experience but I would personally not risk it. I feel silly for falling for this, and honestly CEX offered me more than even their initial quote so try selling there or somewhere more properly reputable. I think the main take-away for me and hopefully for others reading this. Is to do a lot more research before buying/selling/sending any item/service online or indeed in person. Read a variety of reviews across a range of multiple review sites, not just the big sites like trustpilot and make sure that you have a complete and full picture of who it is you are conducting business with. It could end up in theft and/or loss of money.

Sent them my perfectly working iphone 6 with big memory slot, the quote was £120. There was not a scratch on it. Few days later I received an email from them saying "unfortunately the sound dynamic is faulty and screen has a deep scratch". I told them I personally checked it before sending and asked to provide a proof. They send me a photo of a screen with a scratch!!!!!!! F*CKING BASTARDS!!! Told them to immediately sent it back to me, their first offer was £86, the second was £94. After I told them I need my phone back asap, I got email saying it was sent back to me and I'll receive it in 2-3 days. After 4 days of waiting nothing came !!! I emailed them again. Turned out they didn't send it back, probably to see if I forgot about the phone. SCAMMERS! AVOID AT ALL COST !!! Ps. If I get it back extremely damaged I'm going to police idc

Absolutely raging that I didn't read these reviews before sending my perfect condition phone to these absolute scammers! Offered £153 and have dropped it to £100 for imaginary scratches on the frame! I have video evidence which I posted on social media of me packaging up the phone (I have a significant following) am awaiting their response to me asking for my phone back but they will defo be reported to trading standards, how they get away with this is a joke!

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I just wish I had read honest reviews before sending my iPad to them thinking I was going to get a fair price, then I got an email saying, following their “engineer report” they are dropping the quote by £100 due to the iPad being a different model?? also that it had damage to the screen and casing. My iPad was in excellent condition, I even sent it in the original box, complete with the charger. I declined the lower offer, and asked for photos of the damage to be sent, I never got these, they then offered a higher price following another “engineers report” I asked for it to be returned, as at that point it stopped being about the money and everything about the principal. It arrived quickly however, was grubby with stickers all over it, without the box and charger, but no damage at all. After several emails asking for the box and charger to be returned I was told they can keep them as per their T&Cs. This company is breaking consumer law, by lowering the original quotes substantially giving dishonest reasons for their own monetary gain. Trading standards are now looking into my case. They should not be allowed to get away with this sort of thing. Can they actually keep my charger and original box against my wishes, when I clearly stated I wanted everything back just as it was sent to them? It’s my property after all!!

I went on a compare website and found that Handtec had good reviews and quoted the best price for my phone (iPhone XR). They offered same day payment. My phone was in immaculate condition, it was 5 months old and had been in a case with a screen protector from day one, so I had no worries about the company not paying the price offered. Big mistake! I had an email from the company at 11.20am (Thurs) to say that they had received the phone and I had to wait until the next day (Fri) to hear from them again (26 hours). They said it was not in the condition that I had stated and it was full of scratches and chips, which is a totally unbelievable lie! I was offered £60 less than the original offer. I argued the point that it was in "mint" condition and they slightly upped the offer. I felt that I had to accept this offer, because if I refused and asked for it to be returned, I reckon it would have been returned "damaged". This is a warning to all potential sellers not to use this rogue company. I am totally disgusted. I have used O2, EE and Mazuma and never had this trouble before. By the way, I received payment today (Tues), which is 5 days after the company received my phone, (they advertise same day payment)! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

Avoid this company at all costs!Offered me the best price of £110 for IPhone 7 but a few days later they emailed me with engineers report stating issues with battery, chips on screen and marks to housing despite the phone being in good condition! They offered me a revised price of £80 and if I wanted the phone returning it would cost me £30!I reluctantly accepted their derisory offer and have put the experience down to a lesson learned and will never use the company again! You have been warned!

I ordered a refurbished phone but it developed a fault. I sent it back within the warranty period, waited quite a while and then got back to them. FIrst, the warranty was denied, but upon proof being offered, acknowledged. 24th Jan: I was told I would get my phone back 'asap'. Then I waited again, phoned after a while and was told it was out of warranty. I flagged-up the email from Handtec saying that this was incorrect and was told I'd get a call back from a supervisor. Unsurprisingly (by this time) I did not. I waited - again. 31st January: 'you will receive it within this week'. On the 6th Feb I emailed asking for a complete refund. 7th Feb I received an email ignoring my request for a refund and saying that Handtec 'will send it back to you and will be delivered by the end of this week'. 15th Feb: NO REFUND, NO PHONE, NO EMAIL. AVOID THIS COMPANY! Handtec: I have had to purchase another phone in the meantime. Please provide a full refund and keep the faulty phone.

Order number HO_10007046 I was offered 155 pound for a "working phone" Samsung s21 galaxy so I sent the phone to handtec via royal email. Starting by saying that the phone was in perfect condition like new with the screen a bit worn, after handtec inspection they got back to me saying that the phone had: an internal crack and no battery life. Absolutely not true and just made up on purpose not to pay the initially agreed amount of 155 pound, so they offered a ridiculous 30 pound which I had to accept as I won t be back to the UK until February. I recommend everyone to be extremely careful dealing with this company, they are unprofessional and try in any way possible not to pay you what previously agreed making up things like ”your phone has an internal crack" Shame on you.

Sent in a perfectly good Samsung S20 Ultra, quoted £203 for working condition. Got an email back stating phone was dented, camera broken and heavily scratched. I have photo and video evidence of the phone being packaged and sent. Offered £60. Seems this is a continued scam by someone who has already owned a liquidated business and is repeatedly offering low amounts for phones after agreeing a contract. Will be raising legal action and reporting if phone not returned in same condition it was sent. Also reporting their 40k positive reviews online.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! They will NEVER pay you the price they offer. My phone was in pristine condition…not even a scratch. So, I selected it was in good condition and got the offer £233. I sent it off then I receive an email saying the engineers had looked at it and there was a dent on the frame and scratches on the screen and they were reducing my offer to £160. I could not believe this and began to wish I’d just used a reputable company that I’d used in the past like Mazuma. Handtec were offering a slightly higher price and now I know why…because they scam you. I am an honest person just trying to recycle my phone and I have never felt more upset at being duped by these utter scammers. Please, please, please DO NOT use them. I don’t want anyone else to have this experience because it makes you feel, quite honestly, like you’ve been robbed. It’s not so much about the money, it’s the dishonesty and immoral integrity that has really got me. Never again will I use an unknown company. I’ll stick to what I know.

WARNING - DO NOT SELL TO THEM Sent in my old tablet after obtaining a price from them online of £190. Two weeks after they received it they emailed to say there was an ‘error on the website’ and that it was only worth £90! Clearly this is a scam that they routinely pull looking at the other reviews here.

Sad to hear I have had a similar story to most. Perfectly working Iphone X not even a scratch, they offered a market matching quote and then halved it after receiving the item. Making up various things such as 'screen lifting from frame' and that parts needed replacing. When I asked for proof of these issues, they simply actioned a return of the phone to me instead and said they are sorry they couldn't help. Absolute joke and waste of time. AVOID AVOID AVOID!

Got a phone from handtec a while ago, the screen was pretty glitchy when it arrived, but stopped after a while. After having the phone for a while, out of nowhere, the modem firmware went (face ID broke, signal wouldn't connect, screen went glitchy again, phone kept rebooting, wouldn't recognise a charger), which is a phone issue, not a user issue. I emailed handtec as it was still within it's warranty and sent it off to them, however they refused to replace the phone and tried to claim that everything that went wrong with it was my fault - even though i spoke to a phone specialist outside of the company and they informed me that i had not done anything wrong and it was completely a phone issue. They also took so long to reply to any of my emails, and didn't even update me about what was going to happen, I had to follow up to even find out if I was going to get my phone back. Awful, would never use them again

Same as everyone else I was offered a good price. My phone was in pristine condition, only selling because I upgraded to a newer one. Phone was in perfect condition when sent and bam.. scratched screen?? Don’t think so mate it was never once scratched. But I gotta accept the offer because the alternative is they will deliberately scratch my screen and send it back so it looks like they weren’t lying eh! My next upgrade won’t be going through this company.. your loss in the long run.

As per previous, tried selling my Samsung s10+ offered £220. Hadn't read reviews and boom instantly they halved my quote to £109 (the old LCD screen bleed again) Asked for phone back and have recieved..They are basically chancers their whole business model revolves around hooking you in with best price and then hoping you can't be assed to argue and sell them your phone at the massively reduced price which they then sell on at a more than tidy profit. Utter scammers avoid!!

Wish I has seen all these reviews before, they offer a great price to suck you in, then surprise surprise the 'engineer' finds a fault internally with an LCD bleed! The phone was in perfect condition when it was sent, in their own packaging they sent me. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! This was the email.... Clearly a generic one the send A LOT Dear Customer Thank you for sending your device. Unfortunately, we have found the condition selected does not match the actual condition of the device we have received. Please see our report from our engineers. Engineer Report Notes: Other: LCD bleeding This does affect the condition of the device and the value of recycling. With careful consideration, we have revised the original quote to £40 Please note we require you to email back for the funds to be released stating bank information such as sort code and account number is correct and that you would like us to proceed with the recycle. If we do not hear from you within the next 14 days. We will take this as your acceptance for your device to be recycled. For more info please refer to our terms and conditions. Kind regards
