This really stands out on the counter of my apartment. Always get compliments from anyone who sees it.
I did a lot of research before buying this machine, and, for me, it became the dilemma of the Mozzafiatto Vs. The Appartamento. I am happy I bought the Appartamento, because I was able to put the difference of the money into all the accessories. The main buying point that I think separates them is insulation. Once you've made a few drinks with the Appartamento, the pressure gauge and PID control become more of a novelty. The insulation is nice for those that would want to keep their machine on for longer periods of time. Even then, the difference in savings on the power bill is not huge.
My opinion, if you don't have the money to move up to the Type R, stick with the Appartamento. It's a beautiful machine that makes a great drink. Use the difference of the money toward a better grinder, scale, etc.
