I bought this game on clearance for $15. Have played it twice and have enjoyed it both times, with different outcomes. Id recommend it to anyone who likes competitive games with a bit of strategy, but not too intense. At full price though, there are probably better options.
Pros:
- well designed have board and pieces.
- rules thoroughly explained and easy to understand
- good replayability with different characters and randomization through scenario cards
- upon streaming the jewel, you only have 5 moves to exit, which can lead to chaos between players.
- I like that multiple ways to win can allow for multiple strategies (go for the big gem, stay back and steal it later, or prevent others from exiting)
Cons
- bit of a learning curve for anyone who hasn't played a game with simultaneous movement before (expect 1-2 lengthy playthroughs to get the hang of it)
- suseptable to 'analysis paralysis' by counting movements during planning stage (would recommend a timer with an experienced group)
- stealing gems seems a bit too difficult
- guards early game are pretty worthless.
Overall, I'd purchase it again. A fun game to add to the collection that I can pull out every once in a while with a competitive group that would enjoy stealing from each other and throwing others to the guards.
