I purchased the EcoxGear SoundExtreme Soundbar to use as a weatherproof speaker for my outdoor patio. (I know... not its intended use but hear me out and I'll explain why I only gave a four-star review). First off, this is a great, well-made soundbar! It feels well-constructed, heavy, not made of cheap plastic, obviously made for extreme conditions. There is no questioning this fact. It is easy to use and to control via the wireless remote, but I wish there were a mobile device application that could also be used. The soundbar bluetooth connection is great. I have not had any issues connecting with my iPhone or Tivo Stream 4K. I have had a few instances with the Tivo Stream 4K where the soundbar volume control refused to respond. I am not sure how to categorize this issue because it is intermittent, and actually responded differently between streaming apps (Netflix was mostly the culprit). The sound quality isn't going to win any awards, but this is probably due to the lack of equalization control on the speaker system itself. It should at least have high, mid and bass level adjustments at a minimum. With this said, bass response seems flat. It would be great if EcoxGear offered a separate sub woofer unit that could connect via EcoCast, Bluetooth or Aux Out. The $399 version requires a 12V connection. The $499 version only uses a rechargeable battery connection. For $499 you should definitely have the ability to use a battery, connect via 12V or plug in via 110AC. The AC adapter that is available through EcoxGear is not weather / waterproof which doesn't make sense to me. There are weather / waterproof ones available on the market. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase. The negative points above don't make this a terrible soundbar, they are more-so my expectations of a product at this price point and would really solidify this product as being best-in-class.
