A very good well mannered gentle man attended my car that had a flat tyre. The wheel nuts were jammed on my car wheel with puncture. Took engineer over 2 hours to unlock wheel nuts. Polite and very effecient engineer.

Very professional response from woman who took my call. I had had a blow out due clipping an old stone kerb while manoeuvring round a huge truck in a tiny village street. Prompt response from patrol but roads are very quiet in my area so no surprise there. I was met with scorn and snide remarks about my poor driving skills (did the kerb just jump up then?) and how "if people will buy a car without a spare wheel this is what happens. RAC cover comes with my car but would not choose to use them otherwise based upon this experience. Better training in customer service needed. Plenty of young people looking for work so get rid of these jobsworths who think they are too good for their job.

My car broke down at 11.30 within half an hour which was great but the patrol that came to attend refuse to help because i forgot my id i told him if he goes back on my history he will see that is the same car i always called for breakdown and it is register with RAC. I offer to ask my partner to sent a pic of my id he refused that he wanted to see a physical id i show the app on my phone he told "anyone could download the app" i have proof of address in my car with my name plus an oyster card from TFL with my picture on still he refused to help he just wanted to leave i could not believe. Then he said i can pay £100 for my car to be tow i asked him if i would get refunded once i provide my id he said no and before he left he me asked to make sure to have nut so thats who ever is coming to fix can use and RAC do not provide the nuts. I could not believe what i was hearing. And he left me there result of that i had to ask my partner to bring the id and i had to wait another 3 hours for someone to come for help But the second driver that came was really helpful and he provided the nuts to fix the car.

I have used RAC vehicle checks multiple times. I tend to buy the multi-check due to the frequency in which I require vehicle checks. On my latest use, I was confident I had at least one valid code left from my previous multi-check. With this confidence, I went to purchase a new vehicle for myself. After looking the vehicle over and decided to go ahead and purchase, I tried to use my remaining multi-check code. To my disappointment, it did not work. I therefore tried all of the other codes to ensure I was using the correct one. No luck. I then tried a different browser and a different device. Still no luck. I tried to contact customer service but received no reply on the phone as it was a Sunday. Not a valid excuse if the vehicle check service is advertised as 24/7. I had actually emailed 15 hours prior to attempting the check to ask which of my codes were valid but received no reply. At this point I was in a difficult situation as I needed to do a check on the vehicle prior to purchasing. I thought because the system rejected all of my codes, I must have been making a mistake and had actually use them all or they had expired. So I purchased a further multi-check, it processed, took payment and I received my check without issue. However, the following day I then received an email stating two codes from my previous multi check were in fact still valid and they had not processed when I initially tried due to a technical issue with the website. To this I replied respectfully asking the additional checks I had purchased to be refunded as they clearly were not required. Unfortunately RAC’s customer service clearly were not interested and showed zero respect to a loyal customer. They offered absolutely no support or means of remuneration. They happily took my money, despite it being essentially a duplicate purchase because of their IT failure and then essentially said it was my fault for purchasing a vehicle on a Sunday. Really disappointed with the outcome. I will not be using RAC’s vehicle check service again and I will ensure my experience is voiced to all that it would interest until I receive a refund.

If I could leave less than 1 star I would. Please do yourself a favour and avoid like the plague. I was left stranded at 11.30pm on Wednesday, told that it would take 4 hours to get to me, despite there being barely any traffic on the roads due to lockdown. The service that night and thereafter has been dreadful. When I asked for a refund of premium, as I had to use another service at my own cost on the night to avoid the wait, this was flatly declined. A truly pathetic service. Go literally anywhere else

I broke down at a busy junction and called the rac. The mechanic, called Daniel, came within half an hour, told me what was wrong with my vehicle then towed me to a garage. He was polite, told me everything I needed to know and explained what would happen as I was being towed. If I didn’t like being towed just to beep my horn. Thank you for a great service. Highly recommended.

Waited from 4pm to around 3/4 am to be recovered “we will be 90min” yeah I wish you were, told them so many times my car isn’t drivable so they sent out a van instead of a recovery vehicle like I swear they don’t take their job seriously n just wanna mess around, this isn’t the first time, last time they took 10hrs to get to me and the driver kept saying he drove passed a few times n never seen me, not once did I see a recovery vehicle drive passed, also he called me to say he was 30min away which turned into 8hrs !

RLEASE READ AND TAKE MY ADVICE - USE THE AA!!!! I was left stranded on the motorway for NINE hours. My wife who wasn't with me is with the AA so called in to report the issue as well - they told her someone would be with her in an hour (but in this instance her policy didn't cover me as she wasn't in the car too). The RAC are absolutely shameful - I have been offered £100 compensation which doesn't even cover the cost of the private tow I had to arrange, let alone the lost day of work. Customer service well help no more, nor refund my membership so I can join the AA. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED DO NOT USE RAC.

Moved to RAC from AA last year, what a mistake. Incorrectly told my 20 y/o they weren't covered and then went on to say 6-8 hours wait at night on motorway.

My campervan had a flat battery because it hasn’t been off the drive for so long. The RAC came within the specified time (up to 90 minutes) and phoned to say where they were when on their way. Did lots of diagnostics, tried to jump start the battery, but it was shot. Fitted another one. No fuss. Very satisfied with this side if the business, but less so with the customer service team afterwards (see separate review).

Absolutely shameful. Left waiting on side of road for 8 and half hours. Terrible communication. No excuses. Do not use them - I have had MUCH better experiences with the AA

Worse service I have come across in my life. Nearly waiting for 8 hours to help me with flat battery. This was my first call in 2 years to RAC after being with AA for 30 years who have always attended under one hour. No chance to renew with RAC

Awful response times. Called them out twice, expected to wait 5 hours with 2 kids in the car in sub-zero temperatures. To top it all off I was charged an admin fee to cancel my policy.

I can not believe the poor service I have had from yourself. Waited 7 hours last night and 8 hours ( and still waiting) today for someone to take my car to the garage. I’ve ended up cancelling due to the garage being now closed. I will just have to pay myself for someone to take it there on Monday. My advice is join the AA 🤬

I did call RAC at 4:30pm and have been told my recovery will be coming within 1h and half.... fine, after 1h I reviving a message saying that my patrol will be coming within 45 Min , fine... Very shortly after I receive a call from RAC, saying how doing, where I want to take may car to, and home many people are with me, I said that I wanted to take my car home and it will be only me with car.... The person over the phone said that all will be sorted within 30 Min... FINE After 45 Min i give them a call and the person over the phone said that my patrol will be with me by 9:40pm ( shocking).... I DID KNOW WHAT TO SAY!!! I WAS ANGRY... likely it was a police officer with me due to keep the road safety... He did ask to speak with RAC, and he managed to get the rescue in at hurry up mode... Around 8:30pm I reviving a call from RAC saying that recovery is on his way and will be with me shortly... But he will not be able to take me with him... So I have to sort myself out to get back home..... WHAT???????? It wasn't summer time it was just about -0 here is the moment that I felt very let down... I thought that if I would choose RAC I will be fine with nothing to worry about it, well I was wrong When the recovery arrived, the guy was super nice and he did understend the situation... He said I will take u home... I was in my car onto recovery truck. I was at home by 10pm... On top of all it was -0 degrees

Waited 3 hours and lots of excuses, so decided to walk in the snow, wind and ice and buy a jump starter to get the car started. I sorted it, not them! They should be paying me money not the other way round. Complete waste of time and money. Goodbye RAC.

My husbands car had a engine management light come on and said do not drive the car he rang rac at 16.00 to be told someone would be with him ASAP but it could be a bit of a wait he explained he is a keyworker and needed to go to work they said he would be put on as a priority he got texts every half hour then got a text saying the patrol is on his way to him after a hour and half wait 30 minutes later another text came though saying the patrol was delayed on another breakdown then had text after text saying sorry still delayed this went on till 20.15 then had a text at 20.45 saying sorry we are still waiting your breakdown as seduced to a dedicated team who will manage this from now on then got a phone call at 23.15 saying that a mechanic with be with you by 02.30 this had been going on since 16.00 hours my husband ended up driving his car with this fault due to being a keyworker and needed to get to work he's ended up booking his car into a garage to rectify this problem rac are the worse breakdown company we have ever been with we are both going back to either the AA or Green flag who arrived as promised and don't make excuses over the phone and never even had a call back to apologise for any inconvenience and the lies which he he was told AVOID AVOID AVOID
