Worst customer service I have experienced in my whole life . I was broken down on KREFELD road it’s 40 mile zone when I phoned RAC they told me to phone Police. I phoned police they did not come RAC told me to park my near side street how can u move car when your gear box packed up. It was long que building up both side of road fortunately there was private recovery was passing by he offered to help me if I pay £110 which I agreed he they Strachey away lift my car from same spot I was broken down and towed my car away . RAC is waste of time people I have been member with them since 2012 never called them and when I needed them most they did not help me . Shame RAC Javid Gulam Mohmed Mulla Leicester

Sixth day of five working days I got a call to say that it has been picked up and is on the way. They lied. It's still there nearly 24 hours later. It's still not fixed and I have no idea when it will arrive.

I was supposed to be visiting family for a few days in Somerset along with my mum and 13 year old daughter, my clutch suddenly went on a roundabout in Bristol so my mum and myself pushed the car off the roundabout into a slightly safer area. I reported my car as broken down at 1531hrs on Thursday 13th April.  I was told a Recovery Flatbed is going to recover myself the other 2 passengers and my car 200 miles to my local garage where I live, we waited several hours before being told as it's 200 miles away and too far to be recovered I was to leave my car unlocked and the keys in the dash and they will pick it up at 2130 that night to take to a safe lockup and a hire car from Enterprise was arranged for 24 hours to drive us home. We waited until 2130 that night and still my car was not picked up, I had real concerns about leaving it unlocked but I was told again by the RAC that recovery is on its way and should be there in 15 minutes, I began the drive home as I was becoming tired after having been on the road since 11am and it was now 2130, I arrived home at 0130 in the morning (14 hours after first leaving home)  I have phoned RAC a further 21 times since (it's is now Monday 17th April) and not one person has told me when my car is going to be picked up from the side of the road, let alone when it is going to be dropped off at my garage, the car is still unlocked, unsafe and I can't even book into a garage because I don't know when my car is going to be returned and if it is going to be in one piece still, I have had to pay for the fuel for the hire car out of my own pocket, I then had to walk 19 miles altogether to get the hire car back and home again.  I have school runs and work  which I am now unable to do, my mum lives 80 miles from me and now can't get home, and I live in the middle of nowhere so I can't even get to a shop, and still I'm none the wiser as to what is happening with my car. I have been told at least 20 times that my case has been escalated and I am going to be called back from a manager or the Logistics Team, not once in all this time has anybody called me back at all. I have now had to phone my daughters headmaster to tell them I can't get my own child to school as I live in the middle of nowhere with no buses etc and my daughters school is 10 miles away, I have had to call the police to inform them my car is stranded at the side of a housing estate incase somebody reports it as an abandoned car, this is like a living nightmare and I am no closer to getting my car back let alone getting it fixed, I can't even get a courtesy car through my insurance because my car has to be in a garage, but I honestly have absolutely no idea where in the country my car is at the moment, I can only assume it is still where it was left 4 days ago Nobody can give me an answer, and of all the promises of a call back I have not had one, apart from yesterday when an RAC lady phoned me to inform me that the courtesy car was only for 24 hours, which I already knew about as I had already returned the car 2 days before her phone call. Just to top it off, I have been told that if there is any damage to my car, I will be held responsible as I agreed to leave it unlocked and unattended, despite the three promises of it being picked up that night, I had absolutely no choice but to leave it, I had a tired family that I still needed to now drive 200 miles get them back, so all in all an 8 hour drive, and 14 hours in total sat in a car, we'd still be sat there now 4 days later otherwise. After around 30 calls to the RAC and not one return call, finally a lady just now let slip on the phone as to who is now dealing with my car (it is now 18th April 23)not forgetting I have asked this question continuously, she apparently couldn't give me a contact number and acted very sheepishly after she mentioned these contractors name, so I immediately googled them and found they are in Bristol with a 24 hour contact number. A man answered almost immediately and was helpful from the very start, he said my car was only reported yesterday!!!!!! They picked it up yesterday and it's now safe and sound in Sussex near Brighton somewhere, it seems it's all in one piece, they've taken photos, no scratches, no obvious damage and my keys were still in the glove compartment, they will be dropping it off to the garage at some point tomorrow, he was absolutely gobsmacked that the RAC couldn't tell me this themselves, he said that's absolutely rubbish that they don't have their contact number, he said they ring them non-stop, it took a 3 minute phone call for him to tell me literally everything I wanted to know. My car has now been drooped off at the garage, Tuesday 18th April, 5 days after breaking down, what I want to know is why the Logistics company only found out about my car 4 days after it had broken down

Never mind appalling service, I experienced no service at all! I am a lone worker, female aged 66. I was stranded on a remote country road in Wales at 9pm in the dark. When I rang for assistance I was told (twice) that they could not process my request for assistance as I had to go through my insurance company. They then transferred me to Aviva, with whom I am not insured. Who on earth claims for 2 flat tyres on insurance? I am appalled that they thought it was alright to leave a vulnerable woman in the dark in a remote area to fend for herself. I paid for what I thought was roadside assistance and protection-not forthcoming! Do not use them, they simply don’t care. I have now changed my breakdown cover.

VILE, should be shut down. left me my wife and young daughter on the side of the road for 7hrs in freezing February 2023 at night with no updates getting fobbed off every time I phoned. 1am in the morning still no one turned up. Ended up getting towed from a passer by in which I was unsure about but had no option. Have complained via there complaints process, they say they will get back to you within 29 days but as expected, NO RESPONSE Just like their breakdown service. In process with fca to cancel my policy as they won’t let you leave even though they are consistently failing their commitment and policy. Also stealing your money as they are giving the customer no service what so ever. AVOIS AVOID AVOID

Rated 1 out of 5 stars Updated just now NO RESPONSE FROM RAC… This has been by far the worst renewal I have ever had. Double the price and then agreed a new price which they then sent through slightly more. When I complained it took 3 weeks for a mundane response to say they would get the original person to contact me, guess what no contact and by now no cover. Contacted again and sent CEO email and you've guessed it nothing. Nobody at the RAC gives a damn about a renewal or customer care. DO NOT RENEW there are far cheaper alternatives and according to rating's a better service as well. RAC my complaint no UF106119160 You have replied to this review which is a completely and utterly useless for me, I do not have any of these accounts, this reply is for the benefit of the general public and not me. You have all my contact details so why don't you contact me? No, you don't, this is to make the public think you are taking this complaint seriously when in actual fact you couldn't careless. Date of experience: 01 March 2023

Appalling company. Left on the side of the road for over 13 hrs. Takes them over an hour just to answer the phone on the breakdown line. When calling customer services the next day you are simply told to email your complaint. Any recovery firm has to be better than the RAC. Cancel now before you actually assistance.

DO NOT USE THE RAC VEHICLE HISTORY CHECKER… DO NOT USE THE RAC instant Vehicle History Check service. Used the RAC to get Get an instant Vehicle History Check and it told me everything, including the history and value was ok. A short time after buying the car it was brought to my attention that it had been a taxi. My car's value plummeted by £6000. Raised it with the RAC and they did not respond to my repeat queries for nearly a month and then said that it has a BVRLA history and that Taxi's are classed as a lease car and that is the BVRLA marker. They have washed their hands of it. DO NOT USE THE RAC instant Vehicle History Check service.

RAC is fraud. I bought a pay as you go policy with RAC today at around 6.30 pm, paid £199 for reg no. CT13KTD. I told while purchasing the policy that i am 30-40 minutes away from my car. I called the RAC again at around 7.18 pm after reaching my car and I was told that technician shall reach in about 45 minutes. I waited for another 45 minutes and then called RAC 3-4 times and everytime I was given some excuse. No one called me yet. I called again and asked to cancel the policy and RAC told me that it can be done only by customer services. I will call customer services again tomorrow for the cancellation and refund. But i am surprise at such a bad response and service where after taking money RAC is just unable to provide service.

This company is a joke. My daughter was stuck in a dark carpark. Phoned at 11pm no answer did an online pickup. To be told it could take up to 4 hr. Then half hr later said that they would be with her from half hr to an hr.... 1 am still nothing she's getting really concerned now as her phone battery is running low...she can't cancel the breakdown call out and go home..then call the next day as she keeps getting updates to say won't be long. Freezing cold. In a dark carpark..no phone to keep her company as low battery....its a long wait... Then someone from company rings her at 3.45am to say knowone can get to you till after 7am.... There was no point in her getting a taxi home as it would of took almost 2 hr there x back. So she stayed there... Discusting behaviour from a well know company Got to say tho the rac man who turned up was lovely. Fixed her car in 10 minutes and she was on her way...so 8hr for something to be fixed in ten minutes. The rac man said he's gonna put in a complaint as she was so relieved to see him after spending a cold, distressed night in a dark carpark... That's all the company needs to do is keep people updated every hr with a phone call, and let them know if they dont come out till next day. So at least they can get a taxi home instead. These sml things can make a difference.

A friend , who like me , had been with the RAC for years, was shocked to be left stranded at the side of a busy road for six hours, only then to be told that no help would arrive before 8am the next day . With a disabled passenger on board,he paid someone else to tow his vehicle home. We have both cancelled our cover . Until recently we had excellent service ....but to warn the unwary , I suggest a new logo......we Rob All Comers ..

AVOID THIS USELESS COMPANY AVOID THIS USELESS COMPANY So I broke down on my way home from Scotland on Thursday 16/03/23 at 07:40, 08.03 - first contact with RAC, the usual speal, we will get you recovered ASAP likely to be up to 3 hours. Not haply but oh well so be it 08.34 - second contact, RAC contacted me to tell me that beciase it's going to take so long for recovery we are sending you a hire car as soon as enterprise opens. I thought wow great service thanks. ALL DOWN HILL FROM HERE IM AFRAID. 11.12 - contacted RAC for an update as still no hire car and we were coming close to the original 3 hour window I was given only to be told that my case is with a specialist department and they do not accept calls, she couldn't tell me anything else, but she assured me someone would be in touch with me very shortly. 11.54 - I contacted all the local enterprise car hire centres local to where I was to see if amything had been booked for myself or the RAC and they had not heard anything. 12.00 - contacted RAC again to ask them what is going on with the hire car or recover as we are now passed the 3 hour time frame I was originally given and to mention that none of the enterprise in the area had a booking for me, I was told they sometimes use other hire company's, so I continued to wait. 12.46 - I recieve a text message saying my taxi has been booked, call this number for taxi related updates to which I called and got through to a complete different company that told me that the taxi will be taking be to dumfries (back to scotland) I said why, she said she didn't know, the pick up location was also wrong. 13.47 - I got a phone call of a taxi driver saying he has arrived for me, I contacted RAC again got passed through to 4 different departments and finally found out the taxi is taking me to enterprise in dumfries, 40+ miles away, not the one in Carlisle which is 7 miles away. They told me to leave the van and leave the keys in the petrol station with a cashier they will collect the van later. So on 18/03 we contacted RAC to find out where our van is, they told us they don't know and can't tell us amything as its with a specialist department and they don't have a phone number but here's an email adress. We are now on 22/03 and we have been contacted by the police to say that one of our vans has been dumped at Carlisle todhills rest area, yes almost 1 week on and it's still in the same place!!! REDICULOUS!!! SAVE YOUR MONEY THEY ARE THE CHEAPEST FOR A REASON!!!
