“I have been a long time customer of birkenstock and have owned 3+ pairs - but after a recent experience, will no longer support this brand. The recent pair of Arizona's I purchased costed me $200 and lasted me a total of 3 months. I used their care products to clean/maintain my shoes, they were never exposed to poor weather conditions, and on top of this, I work from home (my shoes were barely used). After reaching out to customer service, they denied that there was a quality issue. It's a shame to see the quality of the brand, products and customer service decline. For me, these shoes are definitely no longer worth the cost for the value they bring.”

“I love Birkenstocks but the customer service is so so bad. They gave me an incorrect Evri tracking number for a return and although they've admitted that, they won't take more responsibility. The shoes are lost and I can't even get through to Evri with an incorrect tracking number so I've lost £175 and a lot of time on the phone to militants at Birkenstock. So upset.”
“I have been purchasing broken sock sandals for 40 years the same model all the time. This year however the pair that I received seem different for some reason they did not form to my foot they were heavy and clunky and gave me blisters almost like walking with bricks on your feet that made your legs tired. I contacted them and because I have worn them they will do absolutely nothing about these $130 sandals. As everyone knows Birkenstocks have to form fit to your feet so they have to be worn they were only worn about a month and a half or two and they did absolutely nothing terrible company terrible customer service spend your money somewhere else.”
“On 07/19, OR #511277193 went to an address from 7 years ago. You are saying that it was the fault of my Google or PayPal auto fill, neither one has this old address and I need to take it up with UPS. so basically too bad so sad. I was force to give 1star instead of 0 stars.”

“Had double bunion surgery, and could only fit into my beat-up old Birkenstocks. So I went to their website to order 2 new pairs for an upcoming party. Paid for 2-day priority shipping. Delivery date came and went. Some days later, I was informed that the order was unfortunately cancelled. Because of their “security measures” whatever that means. Nothing wrong with the card I used, at all (I always pay it off in full each month). So I tried again, using a different card. Kept checking order status, which constantly said “processing”, and with a “contact us” symbol. Tried contacting them, but got a reply that their inbox was full. Again, delivery date came and went. Then some days later, I got the same message that the order was cancelled by them, due to security measures. The hold on my accounts for both purchases is still there, so now I’m eagerly awaiting that being lifted. I also called their office in Montreal, but -not sure if this is a QC thing - they were not able to help, or to take the order via phone. It seems they don’t want my money, nor sell me anything, so I will look for another manufacturer of comfortable shoes that I might be able to wear. This is the most dismal customer service ever.”
“Our entire family has been wearing Birkenstocks for over 30 years! In the past several years the quality, construction and customer service has become 100% unacceptable. When I purchased a pair of Arizona's three years ago, I thought perhaps the negative experience I had (shoes were cheaply constructed and discolored)was a one time negative experience, so I gave them the benefit of the doubt. This past month, I purchased and returned 3 pairs of Arizona's! All 3 pairs were scratched (looked like other customers treated them roughly when trying them on). Customer insisted for all 3 pairs that these were "normal distress marks" in the shoes. How sad, the legacy, craftsmanship and customer service, Birkenstock was once celebrated for, is no more. We will be searching for a new well-made brand to wear for our next 30 years!”
“Delivery only a day late, considering they came from Germany I think that is more than acceptable. Communication from Birkenstock and courier Evri was good.
Slippers are great, just as ordered, no defects apparent, look a quality made product. Even came with a measuring template for next time. Will buy online again, no hesitation recommending.”
“Bought shoes on final clearance (no refunds, exchanges) but when I received them they are completely defective and unwearable. The inseam of both shoes is not even attached to the base of the shoe and is left with a scratchy gluey surface that sits right on the arch of my feet. Apparently since I bought on clearance they won't do anything about this at all; they recommend I go to a cobbler. Out $100. Absolutely worst customer service. Loyal customer lost.”
“Unless you have endless time money and patience DO NOT entertain dealing with this company. Worst online experience ever. Sent message to say package damaged and I had to re- order but they would take 14 days to refund. Online chat was rude and dismissive saying Evri needed me to update my address. Then message that parcel on its way, then delivered. Parcel contained cheap sandals from Sainsbury’s !
Another long discussion with them- have to return and thru will look into it before refunding!! They can see from the photo I sent that the sandals had been swapped. There is a thief in their depot or that of Evri
NOT ONCE did they offer to send out the ones I ordered.”
“I bought Arizonas, my 4th pair & wore on vacation & got a really bad blister from exposed glue on right shoe. I sent email & pics to your company & the response was my foot caused a seam problem & was my responsibility to send to a authorized cobbler & would have to mail to New York from California to try to repair. I have no issues with the other pairs. It is a manufacturer issue & no one is responding to take care of this!”
“I purchased a pair of women’s Birkenstock Gizeh on sale and understood that it was a sale item not eligible for return. However, I did not expect to receive defective sandals upon arrival that were unwearable. The right sandal was missing the rivet that held the toe piece into the sandal, making the right sandal, completely defective and unwearable . I chatted with Birkenstock, who then sent me onto a customer rep where we emailed back-and-forth. I sent them photos of the front and back sandals. I was told that they would only offer me $10. They were unreceptive to me returning the defective pair for a good pair. Their business practices are unethical. There is nothing I can do with a broken pair of sandals that I paid good money for even though they were on sale. So is that the hook? they get you to buy something on sale and just send you defective merchandise? I will never purchase anything from Birkenstock again and have been a loyal Birkenstock customer for over 15 years.”
“I received an email from Birkenstock saying my order had been damaged in transit and was being returned to the warehouse. The email said I would be refunded. 20 days later and I have still not received the refund. I contacted customer services and they said I needed to initiate a return and send back the shoes before a refund would be processed. I wish I’d seen these reviews before ordering on their website - never again!”
“Customer service sucks! I ordered a pair in the size I would always wear. Arrived WAY to big. Exchange should be no problem. EXCEPT by the time I got the pair back to them and THEN they send me the new pair I would not get in time for vacation. So, I order a new pair and just return the big pair. SHOULD be fine. Arriving the day before I go on vacation. But, for some reason the new order gets flagged and cancelled. BUT, they do not notify me. Oder just says processing for DAYS. Can't get ahold of anyone because it's the weekend. Until I call on Monday and say what is going on. Basicly they just say sorry you will have to order again. They can not do it over the phone to be sure it goes through. And they would not get her on time for my vacation now anyway. Unless I pay for rush shipping! No offer from them to rush ship them after THEIR delay. I guess I will never know if I really liked the shoe or not. As I will not give my money to a company with this disregaurd for customer service. All while they are sending me promotional texts twice a day! 1st in order after I get my refund for the original pair is to OPT OUT of any further texts and emails. Beings they can sure inform you of ALL their products. BUT, not when there is a problem with your order!”
“Awful just awful.. So disappointed. I ordered two pairs and had to return them the next day as they were fitting rather big for me. I actually ended up buying the same but one size smaller in a store in Barcelona. The return has been processed since May 2024, we are now in July, and I still have not received the money. I've called and spoken to their customer care 3 times, exchanged emails, and it seems they have delays with their chosen intermediary for return. I have sent them my proof of return with the intermediary they recommended (Correos) and have explained that my responsibility ends there, and I should be reimbursed as per policy in reasonable time. I am down 215 Euros. I do not recommend them at all!”
“Purchased these sandals at least twice before, never had any issues with them. My girlfriend loved them. These pair cracked on top of sandal within a few weeks of wearing them. Reached out to Birkenstock and was told it was her fault, she is walking around in them incorrectly and that’s why they are cracking. That does make any sense and has never happened with the previous 2 pair. I’m so glad Birkenstock supports their products. Not happy at all!!”
