Diabolical customer service! Any communication between myself, Budget and their independant inspectors was initiated by myself. Neither were aware of reports being sent, conversatioms recorded, payments discussed etc. I was asked to pay excess of £350 14 days after the payment had cleared from my account. Apparently they were not aware I had already paid on the date they asked me to. Yet again my initiated call brought this to light. Im still waiting for a verified payment..... AVOID

ABSOLUTE SCAM Took out a policy for my mother for £76.69 per month to realise the date of birth was entered incorrectly as 17/03/1973 instead of 23/08/1973. Phoned up to correct to error to be told change raised the policy price to £106.69 per month. Absolutely Scam. Went on budget insurances websites while on the phone to customer services tostill be quoted £76.69 per month. After asking the operate to explain the difference he stated that quote was for "new customers" and said as an "Existing Customer" for a few hours i would have to pay the extra. When clearly and repeated asked if their company policy was to rip off existing customers he responded "i wouldn't exactly saying it like that" and then when confronted choose not to respond"

Took out a policy for life and critical illness insurance in October. Was told would get £100 cashback after 6th monthly payment was made. July now and eight payments later. Still not received cashback. Phoned twice and same answer. You are entitled to cashback we will phone you back within seven days to confirm payment. Lies lies lies

With in about 5 mins of taking out a policy with this waste of space bunch, I rang and said I made a mistake with one of my details, because I was honest with them, they said the first company now refused to insure me, so they gave me a new quote which was about £150 more than the original. Obviously I said no way was I going to accept the,so In that case I'll cancel. So contradicting there web site as the policy didn't go live until the follow day , said they would have to take £38 admin fee, with a promise of a refund 4 days later, of course no surprise as the refund didn't appear. After calling them today was told I would have to wait another 7 days for the refund. I asked for confirmation by email when they refunded the money. I just could not believe the answer when he said they couldn't do this as there system would'nt allow this, what a joke. Have contact there customer services but surprise, surprise havan't heard anything back. So will now be going to ombusman. Avoid this company at all costs, absolute rubbish.

My wife has just made a new claim this afternoon. The person on the Budget Claims hotline took all the relevant details of the accident then was put through to the Underwriters Zurich Insurance who hadn't a clue why we were phoning them and had no details of the accident. Budget never gave her a claim ref number. She was on the phone for nearly an hour and was told to phone the Budget claims helpline again. This time I phoned and told them what Zurich said. The person on the Budget said that they have details of the accident and I asked for a Claim reference number and she said you need to make a new claim as we are broker! Been going round in circles! Worst ever experience with an Insurance company

So another week on from the below (plus an email sent the same day), but still no sign of the promised response from the Customer Relations Department. Anyone considering insuring with this lot, this is what you can expect. I'm now taking it to the ombudsman / county court. Avoid at all costs.

Continuing on from the last post (below) I emailed as requested & Budget contacted us and offered £30 compensation for not dealing with the previous phone call & 2 emails - but then said they would only refund 50% of the premium, despite having promised during the first phone call that it would be refunded in full. They now say we must claim 50% from the other insurer - the much cheaper one who we DID actually place our business with & who have done absolutely nothing wrong. Of course this means we will be out of pocket, as will the other insurer. When I rang Budget back to query this they insisted this was their standard practice & claimed they had already written to the other insurer with all of the details. I've now spoken to the other insurer and - big surprise - they haven't had any letters from Budget. So basically Budget reel you in with a cheap initial quote then double it in the 2nd year & try to catch you out with auto-renew. Then even if you tell them not to renew they do it anyway and keep half of the premium. My job means I cant keep making phone calls during the day, so Budget, there's another email on its way to you. I only gave 1 star because there's no option to give zero. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

After the first year the premiums went through the roof, but despite asking for it not to auto-renew the money was taken from our account anyway. Unfortunately due to family issues we didn't spot this at the time so they've had our money for a year now. We rang them and were promised a refund, but three weeks later we still haven't had our money back and our emails haven't even been acknowledged.

terrible got a quote, but then when i went to pay they hand half the details wrong. and now i cancelled and paid £30 over what id already paid, they are now emailing me 10 days later saying i owe them 100£ i cancelled the insurance before my monthly payment went out to. so i dont see a reason im having to pay another 100, consists mainly of their fees.. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Disgusted in getting charged £25 for a missed payment. Which was down to having my card stolen and having a new one issued with a different no. £25!!! For one email. which I then phoned up and paid as soon as I received it. Will not be renewing with this company. Appalled that I have to pay £25 its a lot!!

I started using Budget after searching for a cheaper quote at my renewal for car insurance. My first direct debit to them didn't go through so I paid with a debit card, and was told the collecting bank was the same one my previous Insurance company used and that was the reason Budget hadn't received the payment? My second direct debit didn't go through and was told they had the wrong account details for me. I made arrangements to pay extra on the next payment but this also didn't go through. I then received a letter from Budget telling me the policy had been cancelled leaving me un-insured for two days. I rang them and was told I had passed the date to maintain the current policy but I could take out a new one at an increased price. I found my experience with Budget very stressful and has cost me more than if I had stayed with my previous company who I had no problem with what so ever. Budget offer low premiums but beware they are cheap for a reason DO NOT USE THEM.

I purchased insurance 4 weeks ago, I have always truthfully completed the questions when obtaining a quote. Over 3 years ago. I had an accident which was deemed at the time non fault (other party ran into me). Since then I have had no trouble with insurance and heard nothing to the contrary from previous insurance. Today I received a letter from budget saying they checked and I was at fault and DOUBLED my premium. After discussing with budget - who quite frankly didn't give a damm and would not compromise when I pointed this out to them I felt I had no option but to cancel. As they had conveniently left it passed the date for me to cancel they wack a 75.00 cancellation fee plus 40.00 for cover this on top of what I had already paid for the month. So in short they want 125 for insurance for less than one month. I have gone to someone else and explained my situation and still got insurance cheaper. They just want to get more out of you. In short I will be taking this further and to the ombudsman if need be as this is totally underhanded and u fair. STEER CLEAR FROM BUDGET

Price looked competitive but Lots of hidden costs!!(WARNING!!) I have been cheated into buying their policy. Believing it cheap!! turn out so many hidden costs. This is the LAST TIME I WILL BUY FROM BUDGET INSURANCE!! BEWARE!!

Stay clear, may be the cheapest , but beware its underhand how they get extra money back. They found two NO fault claims from past insurance We had ,and charged an extra £42, these were claims where the third party took responsibility and was done on their policy, phoned my previous insurers, who said they will go on the cue register but they are no fault claims and would not put your insurance up with them. Wish I had read these reviews first, but I didn't and have learned through my mistake, Tip learn through my mistake, it's cheaper.

Budget Insurance, what can I say, phoned to amend my car insurance policy as getting a different car next week. I phoned customer services who said I need to cancel my current policy and take out a new one for my new car, price from £18 per month to £28 per month. Why cant I do this online??? or why can they not amend current policy. TOTAL RIP OFF MERCHANTS. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Christine.

Same as all the,people on here . Abysmal experience with BUDGET !!! The names laughable and I wish I'd had taken notice of the name meaning at the start , meaning you get what you,pay for,. I purchased a van insurance two months ago and paid £177 for the insurance. I'm 60 years old and not stupid. Tonight I rang to cancel the policy as i had sold,the van yesterday. I was told that I would only get £73 as they were charging me £75 for cancelling fee. I am outraged and I have decided to take this further after reading so many disgusting expriences it's clear they need a kick up,the proverbial backsides. I am contacting them personally on their email they have put on every one of these complaints on here . and the FSA will have a email as well as the CEO for this extortionate company. If I get no results then I will be taking to social media to gather anyone who's had a bad experience with this company and I will be looking to have everyone refunded. How can they be allowed to charge these fees !!! I kinda expected a £30-£40 fee but £75 really. There was no mention of this fee when I took the policy out and it's grosley unfair , they need to make everyone aware verbally giving them the chance to go elsewhere. Well I haven't finished by a long chalk and I need a complete refund or I will make sure they are dealt with by the ombudsman . If we all did this then they wouldn't be able to trade anymore. The staff are also untrained as when I asked for the CEO name he said I have no idea who they are !!! And then proceeded to talk over me throughout the conversation. Terrible company and prices ..furiouS doesnt even touch it ..

Took out what I thought was a decent policy through confused.com which directed me to budget insurance, beware when you say you have 9 years no claims there is some stupid other question to say how many mirrored no claims which I didn't see, and when I sent the no claims discount through they said I had answered the question wrong, when they required it was so much more expensive, rip off, no one else seems to do this 'mirrored' no claims which I have NEVER heard of until ringing!! Was charged £38 to cancel and policy wasn't even due to start!!
