Yesterday I called into the Queens Road branch; Sheffield. They were due to close around 15 mins after I arrived. Both the Cashier & young gentleman serving me were extremely helpful.

Went for an oil filter for a narrow boat BMC 1800.Asked the person till to cross reference to ensure i had correct filter. No reg so no chance.Went to parts counter and same reply..They couldn't do a thing without a car reg. It was their don't care attitude that got me. Wont be using or recommending Halfords again..That's for sure

I went to the Halfords Walsall auto centre on 24th March 2016 for a Full Service. I left the car at around 1:30 pm and collected the car at 5:30 pm. I was told that my rear left indicator's bulb was changed as it was "too white" (this was done without consulting with me and I was also charged for it). I paid for it since it was already changed. I was also told that there was some issue with the AC which was not fixed and was asked to get my car back on Monday 27th March. I realised that my vehicle's rear left indicator, which was working before was not working anymore. Today (Moday 27th March) I left my vehicle for the AC repair and told them about the indicator bulb not working. I was told that it will be fixed by the evening. But when i went to collect my car, the indicator bulb was not working again. It started working the moment it was unscrewed. I was told that there is some issue with the wiring of the lights and I need to go to some "mechanic" to get it repaired if it stops working again. Its been 10 mins that I have been back and it has stopped working again. This is absolutely disappointing after paying almost 300 quids. Something that was working fine has stopped working now and I will now have to spend more time and money to get it sorted.

After visiting the Kingstanding road centre, Birmingham; I took my beloved Cboardman to get some new tyres fitted as I never had the tools, Upon doing so I was speaking to a member of staff about his day. He went on to say about his pay rate, Hours and how much he hates working there. Also mentioning they don't need any training or qualifications to work there, Just common sense, Also that he only did odd jobs as his bored but isn't actually contraced to work on a bike. Nice to know they don't have a 100% clue what to do.. Got home to have to tighten up my bolts too as they were loose, Luckily never had an accident!

Purchased bike for myself from Hallfords Inverness couple of weeks ago, no it wasn't cheap, however was astonished to find that having only used the bike several times today the pedal broke in half while cycling in a busy area this could have been very dangerous. Anyway proceeded to Hallfords Inverness explained what happened only to be told by the staff member "this is normal as we use very cheap plastic when assembling our parts to bikes" despite having a guarantee had to purchase new expensive pedals, which had to be fitted by myself surely a bike only a couple of weeks old should last longer with normal use, will never use Hallfords ever again either on the web or in store very dissatisfied that they act so dishonest as well as selling shoddy merchandise, be warned there are better stores with nice customer service rather than Hallfords.

I ordered 2 new bike tyres on line (£60 so decent value) and went to collect them from the Chatham store. I asked if they could be fitted and was advised it was £10 per tyre, I mentioned that the rear was flat and might need an inner tube and I was told fitting would cost another £10 so £30 in total for a 10 minute job, and after spending £60 on the tyres. I declined the tyres and went to the Bike Warehouse in Gillingham and paid £40 for similar tyres and £6 for complete fitting of both and an inner tube. I won't be back to Halfords and I will be telling others about my experience.

On 25 Jan 2017 I went into the Lincoln branch on outer circle drive to purchase a headlight bulb. The young lady kindly offered to instal it for me (it took her less than two minutes). I had a shock when I got the bill and she told me the bulb cost £9.99 plus £8.00 for fitting! I was very surprised at this, £8.00 per two minutes equals £240 per hour!! Had she forewarned me of the charge I would not have taken her "kind" offer! I use Halfords for all my motoring needs, from servicing to buying screen wash and I have always felt that I had value for money. Sadly, I am quite disappointed after my Lincoln experience. :( :(

Recently bought our little girl her first bike from the (Shirley/Solihull store) and received great service from start to finish, with Lauren going out of her way to ensure that all was ready for collection for the birthday surprise.

I had a nextbase dashboard camera fitted today at Halfords in Kirkstall and was very pleased with every aspect of the transaction. Both members of staff were extremely helpful and polite. I had read a review about the camera fitting service that was very critical, but this was not my experience. Thanks!

cycle mechanic's have a very basic knowledge of servicing all bikes, and no experience of servicing high end priced bikes bought from the stores. mechanic's are never available in the stores to fix small problems when you really need them the most. even if you have a cycle to work package or servicing deal with Halfords. they have a very basic knowledge of parts and despite selling expensive bikes some parts for these bikes are not available or they don't stock them. and these problems go right through the stores from bikes to cars. I bought a bike on cycle to work scheme as I cycle to work every day, with out my bike I don't get to work, I don't expect to buy a service package to be told come back next week and well have a look at it for you .I've also been sold wrong parts even sold the wrong cd player for a car, and told that parts are not available and discontinued for bikes, I now do all my own servicing because I've been let down by Halfords to many times. useless staff springs to mind. I use wiggle, chain reaction, and others sites now for parts and accessories. Maidstone and Chatham have the worst inexperienced staff I've ever encountered in any retail store.

I went to my local Halfords branch(Ormskirk-Store 0353)) at 1720 to enquire about a job I wanted doing on my bicycle. The repairer,Kev,gave me a quote for replacing the gear cassette, and agreed to do the job if I brought the bike in ASAP. I went home to get the bike and returned to Halfords at 1820. Kev had the cassette replaced by 1845- how's that for customer service?! It's also typical of the prompt service I've had at Halfords Ormskirk branch over the last 3 years or so. I love the fact that the Store's opening hours facilitate this sort of activity from my point of view. Thanks again,Paul.

I brought this for the Mrs. This bike is not all you would hope for considering halfords built most of it. Once it arrived we unpacked it and put the seat/handle bars and front wheel on. All the rest was already done. First test ride showed that the gears were poorly set up, the front brake was none existent, and it had a rubbing noise from the poor set up. The rear was also in a poor condition. We took it to Guildford and had them sort it out. The first time it was given back we was told that the front caliper was not put in straight which was causing the rubbing noise and poor braking. I took it home and tested it the next day when I had time. the gears were now set up but the brakes were still very bad and the front was still noisy. I took it back again. This time when they gave it back they said it only needed adjusting! I then took it out there and then for a test ride, and the brakes were still poor/spongy and the front STILL rubbed. I took it back to them and they said leave it with us. After a few days i went back to get the bike I was told that one of the caliper pistons was not working so they said they stripped the caliper and fixed it. So i tested it there and then again and it was STILL exactly the same, poor stopping power and the front was rubbing as if nothing was done to it. This time what looked like the manager was there so i got him involved with this as I was getting very annoyed by this time. This time they sent one of their mechanics out to do a road test. (why there didn't do this before is a mystery to me). He brought it back and agreed that the brakes were still poor and that the front was rubbing. So I left it with them yet again. They told me they will order a new front brake set and that if the price was not to high they would upgrade the front brake for free. A week later it was finally done, they said that two of their staff road tested it and no noise was present and that they finally bothered to bleed the system on the brakes so they did work now. I looked at the brake levers and the new upgraded one was completely different to the rear brake lever, so to make them the same I had to pay to have the back upgraded also. So its been painful buying a Voodoo from Halfords. Oh and they wont even give me a receipt for the bike so i can insure it with Kryptonite. They said it was emailed, but they can't resend it as the system wont let them.

Ordered a cycle to work bike through Halfords. Someone from the store called me while they were building the bike to explain that there was a scratch on the bike that they would repair and offer me £90 off as compensation. This was acceptable to me until I actually got to the store to see that the 'scratch' was actually multiple deep gouges along the top tube (not saleable in my opinion). I rejected a bike and they prepared another one for the next day. Went back to see the bike that they tried to sell me the day before was on sale for £150 off the price! To add insult to injury, when I got home, I found that the front brake was rubbing very badly on the replacement bike.
