“Well if you have a jc penny credit card they will increase your credit line without your permission and if you don't use your card for anything they will decrease your balance and it will effect your credit score many points I would have came out better by never getting a card from them or just canceling it if I had known that they could drop my score over 20 points I would have. Just warning everyone about how they do their customers who don't charge things often. This way of doing business should be against the law.”
“I purchased 2 quilts online and went to Alton Square Mall today (02/11/2025) in Alton, IL around 6:30pm to pick them up and the box was open - barely taped and they were not secure in the plastic bags. I asked the clerk why my box was open and she said she didn't know. You all get 0 stars for this!”
“Do not buy any jewelry from JC Penny. There is NO warranty on it unless you purchase an extended plan. I was wrong to assume there would be some kind of warranty included. Nope, walk out the door and it breaks the day after purchase and you get nothing, no repairs and very unsympathetic employees. The jewelry is garbage. 650 dollar bracelet broke in 1/2 and fell off my wife’s wrist after on 5x wearing it. Not even an offer to repair it. Live and learn i guess but with an overall 1.8 star rating i should have known. I will never return to the store to even buy a T-shirt.”
“JC Penny's Kalamazoo, Michigan. I purchased a ring that was defective. I brought my receipt and ring back to the store 5 weeks after purchased. I was told, very rudely by Julie, since I wore it I can't return it. Even when the receipt said it may be returned with receipt. I called store manager. She said she would call me back. She never did. I will not be doing business with Penny's.”
“The reason for this review is if you order something as I did. And it goes to a wrong address. And you never receive the items. They won't take it off your credit card account. Even though there's proof from JCPenney that the items never came, I will never order from them again.”

“I ordered a coat back in November 2024 and it was to big . I returned the coat back to the return address that was listed on their site . After two weeks I checked the tracking and it was received. I threw away the tracking number. They never refunded back the amount to my credit card which I called and had them check. Got a letter that I owe them the amount after they say they did an investigation. I will never buy from them again !”
“My shipment got sent to my lld address even though shipment before I saved my new address and made it default /shipping address. Apparently it only saved for that one shipment.
Next one went to old house and I got sassy attitude from customer service saying it was my fault even though new address should have saved in computer system not erased.
I also found the third order about to get shipped to old address but it was still in JCPennys possesion at warehouse. But when I called they were totally unwilling to do Anything about it even though UPS didn't have package yet.
They gave me wrong tracking number and told me to get ahold of UPS. The automated system couldn't find it bc wrong number.
So then I found the correct number,opened up a My Choice UPS account but bc I registered my correct address I was unable to proceed to where I needed on dashboard.
Ups live support would not lift a finger and had a crappy attitude too.”
“I placed an online order, and after waiting over 2 weeks for two items with tracking reports saying "packing list created" they are now telling me that the items are unavailable. Very disappointed in their service”
“JCP has the worst return process I have experienced in my 72 years. The online form for help only gives a few options to choose from, if they are not appropriate your only option is to phone the useless customer service number. I explained I am trying to locate an order number that JCP says does not exist, even though I have the number on the package that was sent to me. It arrived without return paperwork. How can I return an order that JCP says doesn't exist? After a ludicrously long conversation, the rep said she had found the order and would send what I need to process the return. She sent me a form for an item I returned in March of last year! I won't be shopping at JCP anymore.”
“My mom purchased gold earrings for herself. For Christmas did not even get to wear them. When she put them on the class broke, try to exchange them at JC. Penney's in white lake, where she purchased them, they would not even do an exchange since she did not have her receipt. I thought all stores head record. When you use your debit or your credit card, it shows all the purchases like Kohl's Myers. Et cetera apparently, jc penney's keeps no record of purchases.And my mother is unable to find her receipt and now stuck with very expensive gold earrings that were so cheap, they broke the first time she put them on.”
“I wanted to go to paperless statements. Synchrony made it so difficult to change and if I don’t go paperless they will charge a fee. I suggest you go with Capital One like Kohl’s did, they made it so easy to change! I will no longer use my JC Penny card again and I have been member since 1975! The savings for using JC Penny card isn’t worth thins aggravation.”
“The worst! Tried to "help" a struggling company by ordering some of their products but got nothing but repeated delays. Ordered on Jan 8 with a Jan 10 delivery date. Jan 16 and my order still has not arrived. "Expected" delivery date is Jan 18. Awful!”
“I sent my new expensive ring off to be re sized 3 weeks ago. I called jewelry department several times with no answer. I finally pushed 0 for operator. All she did was push me off ,back to a ringing in jewelry for 4 minutes with no answer. This went on all day Tuesday. I'm frustrated by now. I just need to know if my ring is back from sizing. When I called again at 6:40 pm I got the same lady ,I explained again my need. She said ,OOH I just got word they will call you when it comes in. Really!!! She lied to me to get rid of me. “Horrible customer service, I ordered pants for my son, they arrived with the security ink tag still on them , I called the customer service number he said I would have to drive them a half hour from my house to the store to have it removed, I told him I ordered them so I don't have to go to the store, he then said he can send me a return label to send it back and then reorder and I wouldn't have the pants I already paid for for about 2 weeks, I told him that is unacceptable it's not my mistake why should I have to drive anywhere or wait at all, just send me a new pair, he said he was ending the call and hung up on me, that's the last time I will deal with JCPenney, just another big box store that's needs to be run out of business, it's a good thing Amazon has good customer service because that's all that's going to be left soon”
