A house for sale through them in my town was up for sale at a ridiculously low value, resulting in masses and masses of people booking viewings for a house they may well have thought they could afford, going by PP price. There was never any way that the property was going to be sold at the low sale price and PP doing this probably wasted a lot of people's time. Put in an offer stg 10k over the asking price, which still made it insanely cheap for the area we are talking about and naturally it was declined. Fair enough but then the negotiation window opened but never really worked properly. There were several offers, some of which were made by people who hadn't even viewed it! Guess it went to one of these people, likely a developer. If Purple Bricks had put up a realistic sale pride in the first place people would have had a better idea where they stood. Wouldn't touch them with a bargepole now, as a buyer or seller

Very unhappy . Booked our first viewing on a property with purple bricks, rushed from work to get there in time , both myself and my partner were very excited with it being our first viewing . Waited at the property for over 2 hours , estate agent never turned up . Couldn’t get hold of them till next morning , was told someone would ohone me back . No return call which I waited on all day . Very disappointed.

Worst estate agent I've ever used. In order to use my own solicitor I had to pay an 'Admin fee' of over £300. Ridiculous. The local agent was great until I had a buyer then was extremely difficult to contact. I had to organise access for the EPC engineer and the buyers valuer even though Purple Bricks knew I worked away from home and the house was empty. Speaking to the buyer recently the local agent has still not handed her set of keys over, about 9 weeks after completion. I am about to sell another property and will use a local agent. The bill for Purple Bricks was around £2000. Very expensive for a poor service.

Used Purple Bricks to manage the tenants & rental of my property as I live abroad. After sales and property management is so bad. It’s a nightmare to get through to my property manager (PM) (which has changed 5 times in less than two years). My current PM is rude, condescending and patronising and never returns my calls. Any issues or query’s I had, I had to sort out myself. Do not use this company.

Don't use them. My student son can't get back the deposit. The rent has finished last September but still phone calls and emails do not give any result!

This review will no doubt be removed like all the other 1* reviews but I hope it saves someone the heartache of purple bricks! They suck you in with cheap fees and their "award winning" app and then leave you high and dry. As soon as my house went up for sale my agent stopped answering my calls, texts, emails. I had some amazing offers on the first day of viewings but didn't know what to do next, so with no experience, I started negotiating myself. I'm not really sure what I paid purple bricks to do tbh. After 3 days of viewings I had been dealing with all the buyers personally via phone rather than the app and it was a nightmare. I imagine I lost out on a good sale. Not only that, the solicitors that come with the purple bricks contract didn't respond for over a month after my sale and I nearly lost my buyer, I had called them every day and nobody answered until 6 weeks later when they told me I wasn't even on file, thankfully I got legal advice and was able to leave break contract and sort this privately. Never again. In addition, I had to retake the photos of the house myself for the ad as they were horrendous and not professionally taken at all! Agh, it has been a nightmare - I had to deal with the entire sale with the buyer myself which completely defeats the point in an estate agent.

Worst online estate agency! No communication unless they think you can be enticed to sell your property through them. Very unprofessional and there is no information even when you have placed an offer on a property. In the past used other online agencies like Tepilo who are far better and professional.

Useless. When go to book a viewing online it always gives a dates over 2 weeks after. When you call they cant book immediately. The given agents contact number no way to get through. Finally i learn they have already fixed viewing way earlier than the viewing date that is available on the web site. Not a good site at all.

Terrible. I am trying to view a property and I am having to deal with a pathetic website that is masquerading as some kind of estate agent. No human interaction at all. On the other hand, with Yopa I had a much better experience with constant contact with a human advisor through the whole viewing process. It feels like Purplebricks is just run out of someone's bedroom.

If I could give them 0 stars I would. I'm really really kicking myself for not doing my research better, but I felt pressure to go with Purplebricks' recommended solicitors PPL. I trusted Purplebricks and felt that they knew more than me, so I went along with it. I also was worried about having to pay the opt-out fee. Now that I know what I know, I would definitely have paid the opt-out fee to go with solicitors that actually do their work and actually care about the client. Nine months later and my house still hasn't completed and I've done most of the enquiry chasing with management companies, land registry and the local authority. We need a deed of variation on our property and I've been doing almost all the work on that too. I started a formal complaint against PB, but was offered £50 for my troubles. What a joke. I'd rather get no money... I'd rather get justice for this awful way of trapping people into working with completely incompetent solicitors. I don't want this to happen to another family.

We let a flat in Aberdeen and made the bad mistake of choosing Purple Bricks. Their first tenant, who passed their 'comprehensive tenant referencing procedure', bailed out abruptly leaving unpaid rent and unpaid council tax bills. Five months later, only one potential tenant has been found and he disappeared in frustration when it took PB three weeks to organise an electrical inspection. No response to our claims against the last tenant's deposit, or for our landlord's float back. As everyone says......they do not respond, communicate or deliver. Worst company I've dealt with for many a year.

In 25 years of letting properties, Purplebricks rate as the worst agent I have ever used: both my tenants and I have had problems. They have failed to ensure compliance with relevant legislation on several occasions, and most recently failed to realise that the tenant had given notice to vacate the property when it came to re-marketing - a pretty fundamental aspect of property management. They have not conducted routine property inspections as stated in their property management service, and my tenant has ended up doing their own repairs to the property as Purplebricks took so long to answer queries. Their response has always been to blame transient staff issues - their staff turnover seems to be high which perhaps suggests internal problems - this excuse might work for a small, local business but is unacceptable for a company the size of Purplebricks which professes to be one of the UK’s leading lettings agents. Even when it has come to dealing with the complaints over their lack of service, they have failed to address matters, often ignoring correspondence all-together. I would not recommend them at all.

Our client has an upheld complaint with the property ombudsman due to PB's neglect to provide clients with full information on their marketing for all costs relating to the purchase! They initially denied having this information on file, in a formal final complaint response, although later admitted to having this on file when we confirmed our complaint had been sent to TPOS. They consistently try to use the caveat they place on advertising (to ask the vendor for any key information that is relevant) - although if you read the property ombudsman guidelines, they have to evidence all information obtained and if they have the information to hand - must evidence valid attempts to gather those additional costs or at least disclose that there are additional costs and to try and obtain further information. Many people wont know this - and they work assuming people don't!! Do your due diligence as they are clearly omitting vital information to sell properties and then denying having this information when confronted! When the TPOS have sent this upheld complaint to them advising them to pay the amount advised back to our client - they are now making that difficult!! From a sellers point of view - imagine going through this process and your buyer becoming aware of any additional costs not disclosed, right at the final hour! You will lose your sale and potentially your onward purchase, due to the sheer neglect of the valuers and teams managing these sales. We are mortgage brokers and see this consistently with this company! Appalling!

If you don’t have time to read whole review, headline is: DO NOT USE PURPLEBRICKS!!! I saw negative reviews but gave them the benefit of the doubt, and that was a mistake. Will elaborate for anyone interested to know why. I opted for the free valuation, was contacted straight away and an appointment arranged for a few days later - great. I was then sent numerous messages and emails making sure I press “instruct” on the portal BEFORE the visit, to allow the agent to take photos and put the ad up straight away (therefore tying me into their tenant finding service and the related costs, which are quite expensive). It should have been a red flag in hindsight, that there was so much pressure to do this when I’d only booked a free valuation, but as I needed to progress quite urgently I went along with it. The “valuation”: walked around the house, he took some photos, at the end of it he said “so what are you thinking in terms of rent”. Isn’t that the whole point in a valuation..? For you to tell me? I had a figure in mind, and he seemed happy with it. Then for the viewings! He asked my tenant/friend if she would conduct the viewings, and since she wasn’t working that day she said yes. She was told they would be spaced throughout the day. Instead, around 15 people descended on the house all at once, absolute chaos, people and children all over the house, people getting angry because she couldn’t answer all their questions. I didn’t find any of this out until the next day when I asked her what she thought, if anyone seemed nice etc, she had no idea as it has been like a “cattle market” (her words). I was really angry - Why had everyone been told to go at the same time? Where was the “organisation” that the agent was supposed to have done? I called him and said that was not fair, he needs to be there for any viewings going forwards. He said, instead, if you’re worried, maybe it better you do the viewings, then you can get a feel for the tenants. At the time I thought fair enough. Now in hindsight, I realise this was the start of the BARE MINIMUM service you get from Purple Bricks! I did the next round of viewings and thankfully found a nice lady who seemed perfect, she wanted to move in ASAP as currently living with family, and I instructed the agent immediately. That was a month ago!! Since then, it’s been silence from them except when I chase and chase and eventually get the same response – “delays due to referencing”. I’ve asked them to elaborate as to what exactly the issue is (do I need to look for another tenant??) – NOTHING. The most frustrating part is I can’t contact the potential tenant directly to find out what’s REALLY going on, as I feel absolutely sure by now that she’s probably having just as much of a nightmare with them as I am. Is she still even interested!? I’ve no idea! Another testament to how terrible this company is at what they do: I found out in a passing conversation about a new license that now applies to the area if you’re letting a property out. It costs £850, and there are huge fines if you don’t have the license. I was really shaken by the news and contacted the agent to ask why they hadn’t mentioned this to me throughout the whole process. Answer: “Sorry, never heard of it”. Well, you should have! Should a LETTING AGENCY not have some kind of obligation to be up to speed on current LETTING rules and regulations? Or am I going mad!? The whole thing has been horrendous. Even now I have no idea what’s going on. The prospect of having to PAY them at the end of this blows my mind. And while I haven’t paid them anything yet, their incompetence has meant my house has sat empty for a month now, in an area extremely sought after for lettings. I’m pregnant and very unwell with it, so I thought choosing a “reputable” company to do this, despite the high costs, would save me stress and make sure it’s all done right. Instead, I’m stuck here in limbo.

We are due to move house today and purple bricks solicitors have made an error which should have been sorted out months ago. The house is currently on hold. Purple bricks solicitors are awful - the hold up has always been on their end. Our solicitors have been amazing. Don’t go with purple bricks! We would never now we know what they’re like!

Too bad there's no option for no star. Worst company and people to deal with. No communication, no returned calls, no returned emails - not even from their area manager. Wish I had done enough research before calling them. They made me pay for a service they did not provide. They should not be in business. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
