Selling on Reverb.com is painful. They sit on the money for ages despite saying they send funds the next working day. One sale took a week for the money to arrive in my bank. Another had the money held for ages as it hadn't recognised the Royal Mail delivery as delivered so I had to spend 15mins talking to customer support to get them to correct it, and then it still took 5 days for the money to come over! Proper shady company using underhand techniques to sit on users money for extended periods of time.

I think the idea of this site is good but the folks running it are crooks! Over $300.00 to see a fkg guitar! $94.00 to bump and they hide the cost till end of auction!!!! Should be illegal! Bad people doing bad things to good musicians. Sad fkg world we live in these days. :(

Automatic charge of insurance (even if you already have ) for merchandise over 1500. Now outrageous charges to do what??? Cost me over $300 for Reverb to facilitate a sale of my guitar. I will never use them again

I received an Email this morning telling me to confirm my Email address with Reverb. I have never used Reverb before, never visited their site, never had anything to do with them. I've just finished trying to sort it all out, and their customer service is pure sh**. I was put through to a virtual assistant, who didn't understand the questions I asked, and wasn't programmed to respond to 'I have no account and think someone made one in my name'. I was told by it to ask for an appointment with an actual person, BUT I NEEDED AN ACCOUNT TO DO THAT! You can see why that wouldn't work! All in all, from what I could cobble together to get an account or find the one that sent something to my address ended up getting that account suspended, so at least there's that. I don't even know what was actually going on, all I know is that I had to put a stop to it myself.

Reverb.com recently bought by Estay, is now the biggest ripoff! I sold a guitar recently, and they ended up taking 17.4%. How is that possible you ask ? They say they charge 5%, but they add another 2.7%. If you purchase "extra bumps" from Reverb.com, they not only charge you for those bumps, but charge you 7.7% fee for Bump amount you purchased FROM THEM! The charge you 7.7% for the amount the seller pays to his state for taxes! They even charge you 7.7% for the amount of the shipping. I hope someone begins a civil law suit against Esty or Reverb.com.

BUYER BEWARE Just had yet another bad experience on Reverb.com, which will be my last. I am closing my account permanently. This time was sent a G&L bass with a dead pick up from Spindrift Guitars in Connecticut. Was advertised as VERY GOOD condition. Upon arrival it looked great. My amp was packed up so I didn't get to plug it in for over a week. After finally unpacking my amp and studio, I plugged in the bass for the first time and no output. All my other basses worked fine through the amp. After further inspection, internal wiring was solid but the pick up was dead. Messaged the sellers shop, with the return message of, "it worked when we sent it". Which everyone knows that shipping does not cause a pick up to go dead. Reverb customer service was no help as the incident was past the 7 day period. This was clearly false advertising from Spindrift Guitars, who denied responsibility of selling a falsely advertised instrument. VERY GOOD condition means it puts out sound. I'd rather pay retail for a brand new item than get ripped off anymore. It's cheaper to pay retail at an actual brick and mortar shop than to get ripped off from Reverb.com.

They will make you go through hoops before paying you. Intentionally ignorant help center. "Surprise" that the payment is a problem. It has been 3 weeks and I have yet to see a cent.

Wanted to sell a instrument and reverb made it almost impossible to set up a account to sell as took multiple attempts to set it up. The item listed for sell was never posted. There were never any views as far I can can tell and still have the instrument without any advertising or promotion

Reverb has no phone number listed to talk to someone in customer service. That is very hands-off and impersonable. I needed help throughout the process of selling. The auto assistant is worthless… it did not understand most anything you asked. When you’re dealing with money, a person needs to know things are handled correctly… so when Reverb leaves your money in the hands of an auto chat bot that doesn’t understand you, then that is very frustrating. Why doesn’t Reverb have a phone number listed for person to person conversation to help with the process of buying and selling? Reverb charges 5% selling fee, then another 2.7% processing fee. WAY TOO MUCH! Reverb just seems like a shady company… when someone doesn’t want to talk to you in person… Red Flags should go up… Will never do business with them again. Luckily I dealt with a normal honest human being that I sold to.

My husband made an offer to a seller in RI, not knowing if you make an offer, your obligated to purchase no matter what. Had I known that, I wouldn’t have let him played on this site. Now I’m stuck with an old ugly guitar in my home. And it’s the wrong color. Didn’t want black. I want colors! Style and color is most important, not sound. Sound sounds all alike to me. Warning! Don’t make an offer if you are not sure. You have to buy it no matter what!

I sold a guitar in Reverb in February 2022. The guitar was damaged during the shipment, hence I have to refund the buyer. Reverb just pay me the refund of seller's fee "in their bill", which you can only use that credit when you sell stuff via them next time. That means if you don't sell stuff via them anymore your money will be trapped forever. I am not an American and I am not sure if this is legal. I will try to find a way to file a formal complaint to relevant institute in US. Besides, every time their live chat customer service persons told me that the refund will be credited into my Paypal account next month (I refunded the buyer via Paypal) since March. Now in May and nothing comes back to any or my accounts (Paypal, Linked bank account nor filed credit card). They lie and now even no further reply in neither email and live chat! Would cancel the Reverb account after I have gotten my money back!!!

This company was started because they didn’t like eBay’s support. Well, eBay’s support is 1000 times better than this joke of a company. If you have an issue, you are basically on your own. Reverb takes days to respond to emails, the phone number is a recording pushing you to a website chat that’s a bot and hardly staffed. If you get someone on chat they push you to an email that they don’t reply to. Strongly suggest that everyone avoids this joke of a marketplace.

Do not sell your gear on this site YOU WONT GET PAID I paid £35 in advance to box and ship my £300 keyboard . That was 8 days ago Still haven’t been paid . Still wasting my life following this up . I may never see the cash . So got gear? donate it ! it will be less stressful as you won’t get paid on this site or will go though major hassles to get paid for your gear

Magic Pedal seller kept toying with my 4 offers for a guitar, by not responding. He did, saying he was busy. I did get a response from seller saying he thought the guitar was worth "twice" as much. I ordered it finally full price and within hours, received a guitar no longer available message. I made chat contact with Reverb, Karla D., which isn't an easy feat as one is directed to a virtual chat assistant. I sent my complaint of this passive aggressive seller to Karla D., in chat. Before I knew it, she ended the cha t session, apparently uninterested in any complaints. Poor business practices from Reverb and the seller, Magic Pedal in this case. Can this happen to someone else, looking for a piece of equipment? I get it, keep your buyer frustrations to yourself!

Bump fee? What the hell is that! Just lost $500 with Reverb, I wish I would’ve read this reviews before selling my equipment on reverb. Do not use this website to sell your equipment.
