My parked vehicle was involved in an accident at around 10.30pm. The AA arrived at around 5am to tow me home. Appalling service and they expected me to accept £20 by way of apology. I tore up the cheque

As I write it is near midnight. I'm waiting for an urgent recovery phoned in at 6.20pm. I explained clearly that my motorbike was unsafe to ride and I needed recovery. 2 hours later someone who knew nothing about bikes turned up, without a recovery van. I used my own tools and had to show him where the battery was. He couldn't even get it off its stand. Recovery was initially estimated another 2 hours later, and this was then moved to 5am the following day!! Despite calls to the AA letting them know I was a woman on my own, in the dark and did not feel safe. Several phone calls later this estimate was moved to 11pm. Eventually I abandoned the bike, leaving keys to be collected. Some other idiot has just turned up at the breakdown site and says he can't load the bike onto the trailer. I've just been told the new estimate is 48 hours, because I'm not with the bike now, despite being advised to leave it for my own safety and being assured it would be recovered by 11pm. So, after hours of shifting estimates which meant I had to stay with the vehicle, without water, a toilet and a dwindling phone battery, my bike is now left, keys under the tank on a dangerous and busy road and it may or may not turn up sometime over the next two days. Incompetence does not even begin to describe this bunch of clowns. None of them care or communicate with each other, so each person you deal with is worse than useless and disdainful in their indifference. I was not told when requesting recovery that they would not send a recovery van. I was lied to about estimates. I was not told that leaving would mean possibly waiting a further 48 hours. I was told they had prioritised and outsourced the job as I was in a vulnerable position. That too was a lie. To pay for something called a service, which does you the disservice of causing undue stress, wasting your time and complicating the situation at every turn, is an insult and a theft. Things only got worse. Following a call for urgent recovery at 18.20 my motorbike was eventually dumped on the pavement outside my house, with no phone call, at 5am the next day! The top box was left not just unlocked but open, with a £200 helmet inside and the keys left with the bike without my permission. I had to push the bike to the nearest bay and start all over agin to get it recovered to a garage. I had to push it myself to a bike bay. I am still waiting for recovery. Surprise surprise, the estimates keep shifting...here we go again.

I don’t understand why we are paying money to this company with hope to get help when we need. Reported break down at 8.30am and patrol arrived after 8 hours. Every 2 hours AA been moving patrol arriving time by saying you are not in danger so you are don’t have no priority. During waiting time I have tried to find garage where to take my vehicle at the end they took me to my home because garage was shut. Only one plus AA promised to take my vehicle in the morning to my preferred garage. Next morning booked AA at 6.30am and again patrol arrived around 1.30pm. I had a RAC before and never had any problems with them. I think RAC gone have a loyal customer back

Unbelievable the AA lie 4x recovery staff told me a recovery truck will be with me in an hour then the 5th honest one said don’t know when we can get one then the ‘manager’ after 5hrs said can’t get one today could try to get you one tomorrow. They are not capable of providing a recovery service!! Luckily my disabled wife and dog were recovered by my daughter, but my own poor health has suffered badly with 5 hrs on the side of the road in the heat of today and with the stress of being lied to. If you’ve got a contract change it quickly as they can’t deliver what we’re all paying them to do. YOU JUST CANT RELY ON THE AA ANYMORE

had all levels of cover including breakdown repair cover which should pay £500 towards repair auto gearbox failed and they wanted me to pay £350 to have the gearbox removed and inspected by an independent engineer despite the car being at a Land Rover specialist if they declined the claim then I would be out of pocket by £350 also the recovery driver declined to drop my wife off on the way to the repairer despite the fact that it would have been on his way, so left her to walk home alone, the vehicle was dropped at the repairer out of hours the recovery driver left the drivers window open and hazards on, this killed the battery and as it also rained the interior was drenched! Complaint dept offered me £50 previously they had cancelled a recovery driver for no apparent reason in total it was 8 hours before they attended my wife and again gave us £50!! completely useless and uncaring... I have cancelled my membership, I had been with them for over 9 years

BACKGROUND INFO: I joined the AA in 2008 so I was a longstanding, Gold card carrying loyal customer and this time last year, I bought a new car and informed them to transfer the policy ... Three days later they charged me for cover on the old car! Also, when I saw the charge, I noticed it had crept up fro £20 to £33pm! I shopped around and found I'd still get the £20 IF I was a new customer and could also get a similar deal with other companies so I complained. They apologised and said they didn't want to loose me and offered to finish off the next 5-months at £20 PLUS to have the next policy run at that price. So you can imagine my outrage when I saw they took £33 in April of this year! Worse than that though. They've ignored my emails and although 2-different people have spoken to me and made promises to refund nothing happened! In fact they took another £33 in may AFTER I cancelled! The last one I spoke to said I'd get a check for that £33 and a refund of the previous £13 but what happened, NADA, ZILCH, NOTHING. Luckily, I got my bank to claw the £33 back so what do you think ... Crooks or incompetent?

Brokediwn at 14:06. Has been told hwlp on the way before 15:00. Patrol called around 1500 and said that I am in a danger situation so I was told to call control again. I have been told by control, recovery will be in around 30 minutes? Again... no one arrived and I have been told there was accident on M4. Phoned by control again and said another 20-30 minutes.. but waited for nothing. Recovery arrived at 17:53. Then we were dropped off at membury services for another recovery to take us to the garage. Was told it would be 21:20. I have been informed by control it would be 22:00. It is 22:10 now and still waiting.. What the F#@¥.. 8 hours and still waiting...

Absolutely shambolic. My daughter and husband and 2 little children called them out at 9.30pm. They were picked up at 2.20a.m and taken 'halfway' home by one company and then told to wait at the services on the M6 for a further 3 hours until the AA would pick them up and take them the rest of the journey (a further 2 hours) all in the middle of the night with 2 little ones ....This is a absolute disgrace. The point paying for AA cover is to get breakdown help within an hour and taken home safely and priority given when little children are involved.

I was unable to complete my insurance quote request online, so I opened up the chat box on the page. It took about 90 minutes for someone to respond. The reason that I wasn't able to complete the insurance request online was not outlined online. Dylan, the rep, was rude and dismissive and not interested in helping me find a solution to my problem. At the end of the very unhelpful waste of my time, I commented that the wait times were unacceptable, and I received the reply: First name, you came through to the wrong department. What is it with these people using first names derogatively?

We called AA for assistance when automatic gearbox stopped working in our car and the AA representative came within the expected time and towed our car to the nearest Toyota garage as requested. As It was the bank holiday weekend the garage was closed until Tuesday at 08:30 am and as expected the gate to the garage carpark was locked due to this. There were few off street parking spaces available nearby and those spaces were not restricted, Both myself and my fiancé asked your representative to leave our car parked in one of those available spaces, however the AA representative chose not to do this and manually pushed our car towards gate and left if parked there. When my fiancé returned to the Toyota garage on Tuesday 29th at 08:00am our car was missing, my fiancé eventually found it had been removed by Nottingham City Council car pound based in Bulwell. We received a parking fine from them, an additional towing charge form the Toyota garage to the car pound and an overnight stay charge. The total cost £140. I have called you directly and explaining the situation, we were expecting as a very minimum a free of charge service to bring the car to the garage, as explained it was the AA representatives who went against our wishes to leave the car in a nearby parking space. We were charged a tow fee from the City car pound back to Toyota the garage. My fiancé planned on booking our car in with the Toyota garage first thing in the morning (08:00-08:30) and then go to work for the day. Instead it took him a full day to deal with locating our car and bringing it back to Toyota. My fiancé called 3 times onto complains line and 3 times someone hang up on him. That situation caused unnecessary time, cost and stress and as a result I will not be extending agreement and I will be cancelling existing and seeking with my other car recovery company for support.

Had to wait 5 hours for recovery truck, after 5 hour wait they send the wrong recovery truck the driver said his truck is small for my car. Spoke to the manager hopping he would get it right, after another 2 hours wait instead of sending me a bigger recovery truck they send me a AA van for the second time😂 and that’s when I decided to book an Uber and go home. Next day booked day off from work to get the car sorted I called again asking them to send me a recovery truck, and also explained everything that happened previous day and made it clear and specific not to send AA van as they have already been and couldn’t fix my car. And guess what I get after 2 hour wait? Another AA van that when I left my car on side of the road for 3 days. I let you be the judge and make a wise decisions when considering AA.

picked Up our car at 2.30am from a hotel car park after a holiday flight. Drove 5 mins down the road a warning light came on to say we had a flat tyre. My 76 yr old husband found the tyre had a screw in the tyre.He tried to put a temporary tyre on but did not have the tool to unlock the locking wheel nut .For 3 hours we sat in the car needing the toilet .had to go in bushes.we had only had the car for three months I was in tears and cold .we don’t cal the AA for fun Service waiting time horrible .the time before that in our other car we waited 2 hours

Beware the 50%+ price increase after year one, and the (virtually) hidden automatic-renewal... coupled with a HUGE (>30mins and still waiting) wait on the customer services line makes this a company that I don't want to do further business with.

Dismal service from AA. Another disappointing response from AA. Two flat tyres in central London. Drove over a curb on Exhibition Road. By chance I have an electric pump in the car but they are beyond resurrection. AA woman on the phone will not tell me what they will or can do for me. A patrol will come to inspect and then he will tell me if he can get a tyre. I told her that is a waste of his time and mine. I want to know if they can get me a tyre (and if so how much!) but she is adamant. Company policy. How long will it take? 1hr 50mins at 19:35pm in central London on a warm dry May day. Really? I found a guy in East London 'Tyres on the Run'. £130 to deliver and fit a new tyre and fit the spare. Time? 45 mins. Update. AA patrolman was supposed to arrive at 21:25. AA phoned 21:30 to say that a garage called Angel would come to do wat the patrolman would have done and it will be another 2 hours!
