“Love the ability to get hatch chilies in the Midwest! Just use some lead time. I ordered my Chilies on the 12th, paid for 2 day delivery and received them on the 21st? Too late for the birthday party. I'll just prepare for the delay on next years order.”

“Placed order on a Wednesday. Order was not processed until Monday and would not be delivered until Thursday. We had to return the order because we did not receive it in 36 hours as mentioned on website. Process not clearly defined on web-site.”

Tom, we clearly advertise on the site that we only ship early in the week. Orders placed on Wednesday do not ship till the following week. Ground shipping of selected at checkout can take up to 72 hours to arrive. All of this is standard. I'm not sure where the 36 hour number you've referenced comes from. “Didn't. The 15% advertised is for chile picked out of the field and sent to the customer only. The email I received did not specify that. I was a little disappointed. Also, paid 6 months in advance and not too crazy about that either. My money is tied up for 6 months without receiving the product. Don't think that is a good policy. I have ordered under the other owners and was always satisfied the way they did business. Sorry but not real happy as a return customer with the way this was handled........Frank”

Francis, The 15% discount is, and has always been advertised, for "fresh" hatch green chile not for roasted. We are not under new ownership either so I'm sorry if there is some sort of confusion there. If you do not want to pre-order, you are welcome to have us refund your money and place another order when the season starts for our frozen chile, or have us ship your order now. Thanks, Preston

“Having the ability to ship to Canada whould greatly enhance your bottom line. Also, not able to ship to a PO Box, c'mon. If either of those options were available to us, we would be adoring fans. Sadly, we are not, only because of shipping issues. The taste of the chili, remarkably delicious.”

Rick, We DO ship to Canada and CAN ship to PO boxes but only on small packages. USPS shipping is just to expensive to offer on our larger boxes as UPS comes in roughly 45% cheaper. Thanks, Preston

“While the Hatch Chilies are [5 star] wonderful, I was disappointed that you sell the (Gringo) chili containing [0 stars]CARAGEENAN. This ingredient is a stomach cancer catalyst. No food should contain this NOR calcium chloride. So the actual frozen Hatch Chili peppers are great, but the Gringo jarred chilis are awful.”

“I was concerned that it took 5 days to ship ground, that the packages would not be frozen still. I haven't opened them yet but promptly put them in our freezer (I have a broken arm and couldn't deal with them myself anyway). I am concerned that they were partially unfrozen and may have ice crystals damage from their partial defrosting. They were on the ground in Phoenix for 10+ hours and that is a hot place. Glad I had them shipped in winter. I took advantage of the free shipping and wish I could have justified the upgraded shipping. Cross your fingers.”

Patty, I'm not sure where you got the 5 day number as your order was shipped and delivered in 3 days and was packed with enough dry ice to last three days. Please let us know if you did not receive them as indicated on the UPS tracking history. Thanks, Preston

“We moved from NM many years ago and were really looking forward to some hot hatch chile. We ordered 10lbs of the hottest available . Never got a confirmation for my order, but I could see my credit card was charged. Chile arrived and I immediately opened a pkg to taste the chile I had been longing for. No heat! Ok maybe it was just that one. I found that the rest of my first bag was vey mixed for heat and never found the kick I was looking for but... the chile taste great! The free shipping is great too!”

“I love Hatch green chile. I ordered the frozen chopped. Unfortunately it was not chopped as finely as it has been in the past, and I found quite a bit of charred skin in several of the bags. The chop is very coarse this year.”

Hi Regina, We had some equipment issues this year as evidenced by the chop being less consistent. We were able to get some new blades to address the problem but not until the tail end of the season. Next year, it will be back to the consistent 1" squares you are used to. Best, Preston

“To be honest I am a little disappointed after my first experience with The Hatch Chile Store. After ordering fresh red chiles, the order was not shipped on the day that it was scheduled to leave. I submitted a couple of emails to customer service that went unanswered. Someone did finally call me back after leaving a message, but by then I was too late to get the fresh chile as you were finished with the harvest. I accepted the frozen equivalent of the 10# fresh that I was hoping for. For me I enjoy the roasting of the chiles, so I was disappointed to miss out for this season.”

“Easy ordering, decent pricing, prompt delivery. But....ordered 5 lbs hot chile and it's not even a little spicy :*( It's flavorful but is seriously the least hot Hatch chile I've ever eaten. Perhaps an order fulfillment mix up? I'm a NM girl, born and raised, and now living in Seattle so you can imagine my devastation.”

“This was my second year ordering my Hatch green chile from your company. Last year I ordered 25 lbs of the medium chile, it was pretty mild. This year I ordered 5lbs of your Hot chile and was very disappointed that it had absolutely no heat, it was mild like last years. Not sure I will be ordering any in the future. Sorry, Kimberly”

“I would rate the HTch Chile Store higher except for one very important issue. The Chile was exactly what we wanted. The issue I had is that when placing the order I was never allowed to select the shipping method and thus the cost. I ended up paying $45 for the Chile and almost $49 for two day shipping. I have shipped 3 and 4 day shipping from another Hatch store for a fraction of the cost with no spoilage issues. If I needed to I might use this store again however any recommendations I make to friends will incude this issue.”

“I would never use USPS for delivery. Very late for delivery. Box was damage Open areas of box had damage chile. I try go submit complaint. Nothing was done I would rather judt buy frozen chile from now on , from bueno.”

“Although the chilis were very fresh, The hot chili was very mild. I was very disappointed. The medium-hot chilis I ordered a few weeks ago had no heat at all. I actually have to order some habenaro extract to spice them up.”

“I had to call your store because I never received my order. That was after waiting 2 1/2 weeks. The gentleman that I spoke with was pleasant and said that another order would be sent. I hope this order gets here. This was my first order. We'll see.”

“I ordered hot and XX hot because I planned on mixing the two as my previous orders the XX Hot was a little to much to eat straight. Unfortunately this years batch the hot was like lettuce and the XX has minimal spice factor. I have imported green chili for my self over a number of years and have had hit and miss success. I thought I found what I needed with The Hatch Chili Store after my last order, but this year was a bit disappointing. I have to be grateful for the green chili, but wish I would have a little more kick”

“I would of given this a higher rating however we ordered Sandia Hot this chile isn't hot it tastes like mild to us we are from there that transplanted to Illinois so we know hot chile since we use to buy it at the local grocery store and they would roast it for us. It tastes like Hatch but doesn't have the heat we desired. I hope this helps Tom / Frances”
