“The chicken tamales were good but it’s not practical to pay $5 per tamale. I will shop around for a reasonable price.”

“The chopped green chiles are hardly peeled or seeded at all so it has made my batch of green chili almost inedible. I have spent hours trying to pick little pieces of skin out of the pot. Very disappointing, especially since I have referred several people to you who aren’t familiar with hatch green chiles and wouldn’t necessarily know that the skins are not edible and that they would need to pick them out of their food. Also, I ordered 15 pounds of them because I didn’t have any problems in the past ordering your chopped and peeled product, so this time is a huge bummer. I attached a photo of what I have to pick out every time I stir the pot. This is one of probably 20 piles of skin I’ve picked out so far.”

“The chile was very dark and bitter. I simmered it like I usually would but it never tasted quite right. Not at all what I had expected.”

“The package arrived from Ohio, not New Mexico. The tamales and mostly cornmeal without much meat or spice. I wouldn’t order again and was disappointed. I really was missing New Mexico and thought these would help, however these were not like the ones I get at home.”

Hi, Christie! Thanks for sharing your experience by writing a review! In order to ship all over the United States as quickly and affordably as possible, we use distribution centers in Youngstown, Ohio, and Sacramento, California to ship each individual order. All of our chile is grown, roasted, and packaged in Hatch, NM. Our tamales and rellenos are made using Hatch chile as well in Southern New Mexico. We ship our rellenos, tamales, and roasted chile to our distribution centers by the semi-load and they take care of packing each individual order. Using distribution centers allows us to cut down on the time your package is in transit and reduce shipping cost. We can then offer our products at a lower price. “I ordered three jars of "abuelas "traditional chili sauce I only received two : one mild and one hot. The was HOT was not at all HOT, the mild tasted the same as the canned chili sauce I buy at the store Not a happy customer”

“I did pre order and didn't get my order. I kept calling and was told that the crop hadn't come in yet.. then I was told my Big Jim sold out so I had to choose another.. to be honest I don't like the one I finally got. Definitely not big jim..”

Hi, Lore! We are so sorry about the troubles this season. Our initial harvest didn't cover all our pre-orders unfortunately. Chile aross the Hatch Valley was milder than in the past, though. “We ordered the hot variety of chiles, not the medium and they were NOT hot at all, but mild. I can get mild chiles here in KC, but i wanted something with some kick. It was disappointing.”

“Delivery was slow, but they were upfront regarding the delayed shipping due to a weird season and the Covid-19 issues. Was very excited when the medium-hot Big Jim roasted whole chilies finally arrived!! Unfortunately, I would consider the heat level as mild at best. Overall, fairly disappointed.”

“Ordered Med-Hot Roasted Peeled Green Chile. Took a very long time to receive. The 10 pounds of green Chile I ordered was not roasted or peeled completely. I ended up re-roasting some bags and re-peeling "ALL" bags. Also, the Chile didn't have much heat to it at all. I was very disappointed, was not want your web site advertised.”

Hi, Alan! I'm sorry you had a bad experience here. I'm a little confused, though, since our products are set to ship and arrive frozen. It is totally normal for dry ice to have sublimated away by arrival. As long as your products were cold to the touch, they are safe to refreeze and eat. It sounds like they were, since you mention partially frozen with ice crystals. I'm not sure what the concern was here. Additionally, we always encourage customers to reach out to us at support@hatch-green-chile.com since we guarantee our frozen products to arrive safe. This is posted on our website. “Was super excited about these but ended up pretty disappointed. I can access fresh hatch peppers each season locally at a handful of stores, but was hoping that we would receive superior peppers in size, quality and freshness by ordering direct. Sadly, none of this happened. Most frustratingly, many of the peppers (40%) were small and premature (~6 inches long with really thin flesh). When roasting, these peppers are virtually worthless. Another quarter of them were well on the way to turning orange/red which really changes the flavor and then there were about 10% that had gone rotten. Considering I can get these peppers here for about 50% of the cost and can hand pick the ones I'm going to buy, I will not be purchasing again.”

“Hi All Sorry, but the product was not as good as past chilis I have bought. These lacked the in the pepper. After roasting, there was little left after the skin peel. In times past, I have bought the peppers from Lucky's market and they were great. This direct shipment from your store was sadly disappointing. sorry”
