Chile size was horrible. Most were sized like a large jalapeño and not typically what I’m used to. Yield was horrible. Lost 35% due to size issues (so small with so little meat they would not peel). I might consider buying again, however, fruit basket ALWAYS beats expectations. I’ve included a few pics of the larger of the bushell. What I did save is good and hot.

You shipped the product on a Thursday and it sat in a hot warehouse over the weekend. The product was rotten and smelled horrible

Hi Patricia, After reviewing your account, it is clear to us why you experienced spoilage in transit. We shipped out your order on the July 27th and was scheduled to be delivered within 2-3 days however, FedEx took a total of 6 days to deliver your order. Although we try our best to ensure that our customers orders arrive on time, FedEx encounters delivery issues that are out of our control. However, we do guarantee all 5lb shipments and because of this, we rescheduled a reshipment for you. We would have really liked for you to have given us a review after your reshipment arrived as we are doing everything we can on our end to make sure you are a satisfied customer. Please contact us once your re-shipment arrives so that we can make sure it arrived as expected.

Hi Mary, After looking at your account, I see that you placed an order for our X-Hot fresh chiles. We are still waiting on the harvest for these to meet our quality standards before we begin to ship them out to our customers. Making sure that our chile meets these standards is very important to us as this is the way we make sure that our chile will endure the hot temperatures they are subject to during transit. We would really hate to ship these out to our customers, and they arrive spoiled. We understand that our customers anxiously await chile season and sometimes the wait can seem a bit too long. Our main goal as a company is to provide the best quality possible that our customers have learned to love over the years. Please contact us through e-mail or by phone so that we can discuss your order as I see you did not contact us previously. Best, Evan

Hello Michael, I see that you contacted our customer service team and we advised you that the order you received was an order of Big Jim/Charger. Your order was delivered early July 16 and as of today, we are still waiting on the Mild harvest which contains Machete/Joe parker. Rest assured the order you received was a box of Big Jim/ Charger. We had many reports from our QA team that this years harvest was running hotter than usual. The batch that was used to fulfill your order was one of the first batches that was reported as, “hotter than usual”, by our team. In goodwill we offered tips on how to ensure that you not remove the heat from the peppers and offered you a discount on our Sandias which is the next heat level up. However, we did not get a response from you. Our offer still stands and we would be more than happy to send a box of the next heat level for you to try. We always do everything we can on our end to ensure that our customers are happy with our products if they are willing to work and communicate with us. We hope you reach out to us and allow us an opportunity to provide the quality of service that we are known for.

I received a phone call from the Hatch Chile Store on 7/28 with an apology that my hatch order was lost by FedEx and a replacement was being expedited. It is end the day on 7/31 and so far no hatch have arrived. I’m not sure what level of expedites was used but I know originally paid a premium for shipping when I preordered. I’m curious when my order will arrive and what customer recovery looks like for Hatch Chile Store.

They arrived today via priority flat rate box that was crushed and damaged. Last year my Chile came in a vented rigid box. It seems in the closed bod chiles over ripened.

Hey all - ordered 5 1-lb bags of whole frozen green chiles and 5 1-lb bags of chopped red/green frozen. I've only used one bag of green so far, but they definitely thawed all the way during shipping. Put them in the freezer immediately upon receipt, but the damage was done. Used them in green chile stew and on pizza - they have lost a lot of flavor and the texture is pretty dry. The chopped looked much more frozen when they arrived - haven't tried them yet. Fingers crossed. Maybe additional cold packs or more insulation would have helped - I've never ordered frozen before. Not a bad review, but pretty sad over here. Fed Ex delivered: Friday, July 2, 2021 12:06 PM Chicago, IL Delivered Left at front door. We ordered thinking that this was a truly New Mexico operation. We ordered two dozen of the chili rellenos and expected them to ship from somewhere close to Hatch, NM. The shipping information stated that they would be shipped frozen with dry ice to keep them frozen. We were astounded to find out that they were shipping from California! Why California? This doesn't make sense if they are truly Hatch chilis from Hatch, NM. However, when we received this package we were flabbergasted to see that the entire contents of dry ice had vaporized which dry ice does and that the two dozen of the rellenos had also completely defrosted. We immediately put one dozen in the freezer and cooked the other dozen in Kelly's air fryer. They tasted okay but were sort of mushy!

Hi Dailey, We apologize for the inconvenience. As we try our best to provide exceptional service, some factors like shipping and handling are outside of our control, and issues like this can happen. In order to ship all over the United States as quickly and affordably as possible, we use distribution centers in Youngstown, Ohio, and Sacramento, California to ship each individual order. All of our chile is grown, roasted, and packaged in Hatch, NM. Our tamales and rellenos are made using Hatch chile as well in Southern New Mexico. We ship our rellenos, tamales, and roasted chile to our distribution centers by the semi-load, and they take care of packing each individual order. I wasn't able to find any emails from you to our support team reporting your issue. We are always happy to remedy shipping issues, but we can't fix issues we don't know about. Thanks, The Hatch Chile Store

Hello Kathy, I see that you did reach out to us about this problem, and we sent you a reshipment for the dried red chile. We hope the chile reached you well and was much better quality. We try to offer our customers great products and excellent service. Would you please let us know if you were happy with the quality of the dried red chile you received? Thank you, The Hatch Chile Store

The chicken tamales were good but it’s not practical to pay $5 per tamale. I will shop around for a reasonable price.

The chopped green chiles are hardly peeled or seeded at all so it has made my batch of green chili almost inedible. I have spent hours trying to pick little pieces of skin out of the pot. Very disappointing, especially since I have referred several people to you who aren’t familiar with hatch green chiles and wouldn’t necessarily know that the skins are not edible and that they would need to pick them out of their food. Also, I ordered 15 pounds of them because I didn’t have any problems in the past ordering your chopped and peeled product, so this time is a huge bummer. I attached a photo of what I have to pick out every time I stir the pot. This is one of probably 20 piles of skin I’ve picked out so far.

The chile was very dark and bitter. I simmered it like I usually would but it never tasted quite right. Not at all what I had expected.

The package arrived from Ohio, not New Mexico. The tamales and mostly cornmeal without much meat or spice. I wouldn’t order again and was disappointed. I really was missing New Mexico and thought these would help, however these were not like the ones I get at home.

Hi, Lore! We are so sorry about the troubles this season. Our initial harvest didn't cover all our pre-orders unfortunately. Chile aross the Hatch Valley was milder than in the past, though. We put up a warning on our website about this. Hopefully next year's crop is more up to your heat preferences! :) Thanks, The Hatch Chile Store
