Our experience of World of Camping was blighted by hopeless delivery arrangements, unsuitable packaging and lack of useful communication about our order. Although we were at home when delivery was made, the driver left the parcel with an elderly neighbour quite far away - and no card to tell us where the package was. Although an email alert assured we'd been left a card, we hadn't. I emailed WoC to ask where parcel was - still waiting for reply. Eventually the neighbour carried the bulky package down the street to us. Problem solved but no thanks to WoC. Our purchase was a double sleeping bag and it came in the most battered and unsuitable box: torn, bashed, and open in places, we were glad our purchase didn't actually require the ironic "Fragile" tape (also hanging off in places). I tweeted a photo of the box to WoC - no reply. The Outwell sleeping bag itself is great but our experience of World of Camping...? Not so much.

Thank you for making a review of our service and sorry to read you feel so unhappy. All our parcels are sent out via a third party service and it looks like this is the element you are unhappy about. I will pass your comments on to our couriers and the state of the box to see why this happened. As for the email sent we would appreciate it if you could contact the office as we do not seem to have received your email after investigating your comments that one was sent. We do pride ourselves on good customer services and apologise if you felt that this was not met on this occasion.

Nice enough people but unable to complete my very small order as one item was out of stock. I did get a very friendly email of apology with a choice of a refund or wait for stock to arrive in about two weeks. I chose to wait. I'm sure they perform much better than this but I could not score anything higher than 'poor' on this occasion.

Thank you for your honest review and always appreciate customer views of our services and can only apologise that one of the items ordered was out of stock. We do have a message that comes up in red that states the item is out of stock and then contact the customer with the next delivery date. I will ask the IT department to check this is working, particularly on the product you ordered.

I ordered two identical items. The items delivered were the same function but a totally different make and spec to the ones I bought. It was explained that sometimes products vary. That's fine if the variation does not change the functional use. When I phoned to resolve this a very polite gent said he would resolve it and respond by email (we were away). Sadly some 5 days later I have not had an email so it will be another call to chase up a response to a product I did not order and now have the hassle of returning the wrong ones with no knowledge of the availability of the originally ordered products. I would not judge a firm on one encounter but sadly my experience has not been positive. I am sure this is not the typical experience. Too much hassle for £10 of plastic.

I was not favourably impressed to get confusing emails, both on the same day, giving conflicting information about delivery. I was going to phone you, but fortunately I checked my emails this morning and found that the original Details were in force. However I never did receive the You're next' message which it said had been successful sent, but The parcel was only 5 or 6 mins behind schedule , and it was well packed. I had an earlier query about a confirmation of order email that I didn"t get, and on that occasion the lady was very helpful and reassuring, but this whole affair has stressed me out quite a lot.

We are very sorry that you felt confused with our emails. I can only presume that it was because you ordered your cool box on Friday with a 2-3 working day service and it was actually delivered today. During our 'out of season' period items can be delivered quicker than at peak times, which we would hope customers will be pleased with. Please call the office should you want to advise us of which email actually confused and distressed you, as we always aim to continually improve our customer service and systems.

We're sorry that there is a delay with your order. The shipping service selected is 3-4 days; however the product ordered is presently out of stock and this should have been made clear at the point of placing the order. Although there was some delay caused by your card payment being refused by the bank, we believe that this was resolved and that the goods were shipped to you direct from our supplier. Nothing received 20 days from ordering.Admittedly I was advised that some items were out of stock and might take 2 weeks to arrive and I was offered alternatives. I would not yet be making a complaint as I was in no particular hurry but asking for a customer satisfaction survey when No items have been received adds indult to injury.

Unfortunately there is a production delay with one of the items you ordered, so it is impossible to provide this item until it can be fulfilled by our supplier. As agreed, we will ship the order as soon as we have the stock for you. The review request email which you received is automated to be sent a set period after your order date; we would expect the majority of orders to have been shipped out, received and put through their paces within this period. You are welcome to delay your review until the goods have been received - and indeed to have the rest of your order shipped ahead whenever you like.

Easy to purchase from. Extremely difficult to return items. They say to phone them to arrange returning items. They do not answer the phone, do not return your messages or answer emails. Extremely poor customer service.

We're sorry to hear that you experienced difficulty with communication - unfortunately you called us during an annual stocktake and received a slower response than we would have liked to see. Provided they are unused, unspoiled and complete with untampered original manufacturer packaging, we are alway happy to accept a return of unwanted items to our warehouse at the following address: World of Outdoors Returns 1 Treleigh Park, Jon Davey Drive Treleigh Industrial Estate Redruth TR16 4AX Please pack securely and enclose either a copy of our returns form or a copy of your invoice - failing that, a note quoting your details including order number - and explaining the reason for return of the product. We can make arrangements for collection of heavy items by courier at an additional cost, and we can be contacted either by phone or email to arrange this; please note that replies can only be given during office hours. We do not expect customers to pay for the return of defective or unordered goods. World of Camping

I ordered a canopy for a camping trip at the weekend - the reason I ordered from him was that they offered next day delivery as i needed it for the camping trip. Unfortunately, the item didn't arrive the next day as something had gone wrong with the dispatch. I asked when i would receive it and was told 5 days later - i then asked what they would do about the next day delivery costs and was give the difference back reluctantly - the customer service was poor, there was little apology and quite frankly I would have expected an apology and perhaps free postage? Only £4 (after getting the difference back) but surely the principle is right. Will not likely use world of camping again.

We're sorry that the parcel did not reach you as soon as it should have done. We shipped it out on the same day as the order was placed, using a next-working-day delivery service. Unfortunately the courier misrouted the parcel to the wrong local depot. As this was a bank holiday weekend, the delay to delivery was inevitably greater than it would have been on a normal day. We're glad to see that the parcel was delivered on the Tuesday morning. We regret this failure enormously, and we're sorry if this wasn't apparent to you when you spoke to our customer services about the matter.

Paid extra for same day delivery as this was for surprise 60th. Birthday present did not arrive as expected had to ask neighbour to look out for package following day finally arrived late afternoon. Have sent requesting refund of posting still waiting for feedback.

Your order was placed at 16:50 on Saturday, and left us on Monday (the next working day) on the service requested. Delivery should have taken place on Tuesday, we're sorry if this did not take place - a refund will be given in this case.

Was so excited to find a supplier who had exactly the two products I needed at a reasonable price. Ordered them ,easy to do, and sat back and waited for delivery. Phoned on day 5of the 3-5 day delivery period to be told both products were out of stock-despite being listed as 'in stock' and ordered on the day. Wish someone had bothered to email and let me know! If they had I might have been able to find them elsewhere. Currently on my holiday .....but without he two things can I really wanted to take with me! Not a happy ending.

We would normally contact customers a lot quicker than this to advise of a back-ordered item, the delay was due to an unprecedented volume of sales in the week of your order. The item you ordered was out of stock, which should have been made clear in the basket when the order was placed. Unfortunately we were unable to reach you on the number provided; however as advised by email the order has now been completed successfully and shipped.

We have previously received a good service from world of camping but on this occasion have been let down by poor communication from the company. We ordered several items which were shown to be in stock and therefore we assumed would be delivered within 3-5 working days. After 5 working days we had heard nothing from the company and so I phoned up to check on progress only to discover one of the items was out of stock. Apparently there had been a computer glitch and we should have been notified that the item was out of stock. I was told the item was due to become in stock that day or the next working day and it would be immediately sent out to us. Either way we would be kept informed. Unfortunately we were not kept informed and when I phoned the company again for an update it had still not arrived and we therefore had to cancel the order as it would not arrive in time for our camping trip. We were also disappointed to find that one of the other items that did arrive on time was faulty but given the delay in sending it out it left no time to replace it.

Ordered an item because website said one in stock which after a week hadn't turned up! Rang them several times but kept getting answer machine so finally left a message but no one returned our call! Follow up calls the next day were also engaged but finally got through after many attempts. Eventually told item wasn't in stock when ordered! Auuuuuuuugh!! :-(
