Very disappointed with the guy that turned up this morning. My battery was clearly flat, he charged it then to tell me it needed replacing at £149 which I agreed to pay for. His attitude was very abrupt and quite intimidating being a lady by myself. He then proceeded to check my antifreeze and asked if i spilled any during my top up?! Then made another comment about a bolt missing under where the battery was going stating this was an MOT failure to which I replied it had just passed an MOT. His overall manner was very inditimadating and rude and I wont be renewing my policy with yourselfs as it made me feel very uncomfortable.

Woeful, disjointed information and customer service. We tried really hard to facilitate the insurance and telematics box process . We were met with unyielding and inept responses. Had to cancel our insurance ! Should have been straightforward but ended up being a long winded waste of time.

RAC COMPLAINT No UF 62164500 Have just tried to update site users on Trustpilot . Explained legal position of my claim against RAC and their refusal to honour their legal duty.. Result...They have blocked my review on that site. Whatever that says about RAC Breakdown it also does little to establish the integrity of Trustpilot. Suggest Trustpilot finishes with them ..If you want integrity and to honour your Title you should finish you commercial relationship with RAC Breakdown forthwith.

Never in all my years as a cab driver have I had such a terrible experience as this I broke down last week at 6-30 in the evening I called the RAC at 6-40 to be to it will be 3-4 hours which is ridiculous in its self I then called back at 8pm to get an update to be told that the job had been logged at 7-20 and there was a 6 hour wait furious was not the word I got another recovery company who are a tiny little company they were with me in 45 minutes I logged a complaint the next day took them a week to email me a pathetic reply my son and my wife are on my membership I couldn’t chance putting them in that situation and when you’ve been let down so badly you never forget it.

My husband made a call to register a breakdown just before 5pm this evening, it is now 9:30pm and he is still stuck on the hard shoulder of the M1. Despite numerous phone calls by me and my husband to yourselves , all giving diff variations of time scales he is still sat on the motorway in a very dangerous position. It was reported to them that all power to his vehicle had gone , this includes his lights. So on a dark very cold slippy night he is in a very precarious situation!!! Still waiting to be recovered. This resulted in the traffic officers coming to his assistance and they called me and advised me to log a very serious complaint with the RAC as they say 'this is incredibly dangerous and knowing where the vehicle is stationed and the conditions, they are suprised that a supposedly reputable company has not acted upon it sooner'. They themselves have called to speak to The RAC to find out exactly what has happened and why my husband has been let down. They advised that no one should be left for more than 2hrs in these conditions with the vehicle being in darkness. If the traffic officers are saying this and they work the motorways tirelessly then this says something about the RAC. According to their systems , it states that someone did arrive at 8pm. I can tell you this was not the case as my husband has not seen anybody except the traffic officers. This needs looking into as clearly someone is falsifying information. If someone did arrive, what was their assessment of my husbands vehicle and why is it still now on the motorway, not being recovered !! We feel incredibly let down by them who claim to be with you within 30-60 mins with no updates. The only updates we have been given are after we have had to call several times. All these are logged on mine and my husbands phone, and the traffic officers. It will be 10pm by the time the recovery vehicle gets to my husband, if this update is correct. This needs rectifying!!! Nobody else should have to go through this appalling service. If an accident or worse had occurred due to your gross negligence in this case, then the complaint I'm sure would be coming from the police. We would definitely not recommend them to anyone!!!!

No Shame! Imagine you were CEO of a company getting these reviews wouldn't you want to do something about it ! As hard as they try on Trustpilot by posting good reviews they carefully solicited, they still cannot prevent or drown the wave of condemnation that this outfit suffers. Trading Standards needs to look seriously at RAC Breakdown and consider whether in the public interest action should be taken against them.

2h 15min for a call at 6:15 in the morning in London is horrible at best I feel cheated (paid 155£ for this non existing service) .End up changing the spare wheel myself ( was in my way to a hospital ) That 30 min average time in their website is a big BS

I used RAC Rescue today for the first time and was really happy with the way my problem was dealt with. The mechanic was really helpful and efficient and sorted me out quickly. I would highly recommend their service.

Partner broke down at 7.15pm tonight on a busy road called insurance who forwarded him to RAC was told 3-4 hours wait time as they were busy. Called for an update at 9.45pm and was told nothing had changed with timings, called again at 11pm as recovery had still not arrived and the girl in the call centre said there was now a note me on the scteen saying it had been deferred until the morning. No-one had bothered to call and inform of this so could have been sitting in freezing cold car all night waiting. Disgusting service, yet to see if they turn up tomorrow. If there was '0' star option they would be getting it!

Terrible experience with a 'Customer Care Executive' with RAC just now. Officious, interrupting and didn't care. My car broke down, recovery driver had said MOT had expired 2 days previously so wouldn't tow it or even look at the fault. Had not heard of this as a reason for not towing a vehicle before. I asked around, nobody even Aviva had heard of this excuse before - I understand it is legal requirement to have valid MOT, complete oversight on my part - but how do they tow ' unroadworthy' crashed vehicles? So I paid for a low-loader and asked Aviva/RAC for a refund of my annual membership as I hadn't called them in 3 years and when I did they were of no use to me. The attitude was really disappointing - Christine Burgess, Customer Care Executive at RAC, wouldn't even let me finish a point, kept interrupting. No regard for costumer loyalty. Would never use them again.

I’ve now been waiting over eight hours to be recovered less than two hours from home, with my 87 year old mother. Spent five hours on a roundabout then a “link” driver dumped us at 5am in an A12 lay-by as his shift hours were exceeded. Appalling service. Still no update on how we get home. Freezing cold, dark, rang numerous times and was told we’d be escalated to a manager but still stranded.

I'm writing this as I sit with my four ways flashing waiting for my dad to rescue me. Have been with the RAC for over a decade and called them for the first time today. Leaving my uncles funeral on the way to his wake my brakes seized. Luckily I was able to use the handbrake and pull to one side, still in the cemetery grounds,on double yellow lines and leaving only just enough room for the hearses to get by. Rang the RAC to be told I will have to sit here and wait 4 to 5 hours. The cemetery grounds shut at 5pm and it is 3pm at present. Absolutely disgusted.

I have just cancelled my RAC family membership after many years. Last month they left my son stranded for 6 hours and when the police said they would have to use their own recovery vehicle at a cost of £150 to make the road safe the RAC refused to refund him. Shocking service, they really have gone downhill. It's the AA for me now.

Appalling service. You are not a 24hr service so please do not advertise that you are. Unless of course you mean you come out within 24hrs. You were quite happy to leave my 17 year old son at 2:30am until 10:30 am.

I wish there was 0 star that we could give! Absolutely avoid it at all cost. Called them at 8am and nothing till 1pm then i cancelled my service and asked refund. I have been told its all done, there would be no need to call them again. I just saw today that still no refund! Called them straight away and they say that there is nothing they could see about my payment. What a joke!
