“I had come into store yesterday to pick up some bits before work. Everything was okay at best up until I went to pay and leave. I went to the self service till with a basket and paid. I was watched during this but I don't mind this as sometimes we have to do it at the store I work at. Since I was watched while I paid you would think I would then be free to leave. This was not the case as the security asked to check my rucksack. When asked if there was a reason behind this I was told its policy. Policy to check a rucksack with no reason? I would understand if I had not bought anything or if I had even put my shopping in my bag after I paid. However, I was watched while I paid and packed a shopping bag rather than putting it in my rucksack.
When questioned about the policy, the guard said that it was a 'managers policy' not aldis. I understand this is a new store and there will be some teething issues but a manager who would put this in place should not have been given that job in the first place. I understand that the pompey centre has a lot of issues with thieves, I have seen it first hand since I work in a store nearby but if I had checked a customers personal belongings without valid reason of suspected theft I would have been dismissed!
Being forced to show your personal belongings when no valid reason has been given can be considered harassment, cause distress and embarrassment especially when not even asked discreetly.
Joyline Dapadap from customer service online would only try to back the store up and did this by lying about their policy even though this can be accessed online. When caught out on this they changed their answer to it being a 'short-term measure' rather than their original 'national policy'. Clearly there is a lack of training being given to Aldi employees.
Honestly disgraceful!”
“Pathetic staff attitude at the checkout, searched my bags for suspicious shoplifting. Went to have routine shopping after work, without any indication of suspicious behaviour. On asking, they said it's their store policy. Even more appalling, they only pick on random customers, searching their bags. This looked biased and racist behavior by looking at gender, colour and then searching.Never had this experience elsewhere ..while store need to keep eye on shoplifting etc, they could do so by using technology and better staff training. Searching like this cause extreme embarrament. Will never shop in Truro Aldi.”
“we purchased a 4.99 soft dog toy
a calming toy with a squeak
after 1 minute the squeak was dead and after 4 minutes the toy was in pieces, we only have a small dog and I would expect it to last longer than this we are going to return it and get a refund this is clearly not fit for dogs to have as it could of choked him.”
“My disappointment is with a product. I'm an Aldi enthusiast, but, oh dear, what has happened to marzipan these days, as there is only a tiny blob of it in your so called "Authentic Marzipan Stollen"? Before Covid, when my partner and I went to J Lewis for coffee and cherry scones, he'd say to me "Whistle when you find a cherry"! I guess I'll need to try someone else's Stollen to check out on their amount of marzipan. It's so disappointing when stated ingredients are so sparse.”
“Aldi North Cheam is just around the corner from me where I used to shop almost on a daily basis, unfortunately after my last shopping experience in Aldi Cheam I will never ever be going to Aldi in this country. On 15.09.23 I went to this store to do my regular shopping not realising that they change the parking conditions, I was totally unaware that I had to register my number plate, also, on that occasion I paid by cash and I did not keep the receipt. After receiving the parking notice I asked them to cancel it, I explained whole situation to them, and despite of presenting numerous till receipts from the past they refused to cancel the fine. After spending thousands of pounds in this branch my reward was a Fine, I just can not express my ANGER!!!!!!!!!!”
“It's not the products it's the god dam awful parking eye that run your car parks,no way will I shop at aldi when I can shop any where else that won't send me a demand for £60 saying I stayed for 24 hours on there car park when I dropped my daughter off to pick up a few things on consecutive days.I WILL NEVER SHOP AT ALDI EVER AGAIN.Thank god for lidl and there self service check outs and generous PACKING areas to.”
“As with many low rated reviews on here I experienced being spoken to in an unacceptable manner when asked to lift my bags to check I was not stealing items. I decided instead of just writing a review to try and rectify the situation by bringing it to the attention if the CEO. Unfortunately the response I received was equally as disrespectful, 'this is why we do it, here's a £10 voucher, go away'. Being barked at "Lift your bag, LIFT YOUR BAG" really isnt how I expect to be spoken to by anyone let alone a spotty, bum fluff cultivating male high on the meagre power he has supposedly been given. The highlight of the whole saga was the signs in store claiming staff will not tolerate abuse. HOW HYPOCRITICAL!! I went and shopped over the road in Lidl.”
“I have been a regular shopper at my local Aldi for many years now. This store has recently been refurbished, but since then, there are not always prices displayed, even for vegetables. So it’s impossible to select The best priced sweet peppers, for example, if you are trying to budget. As I turned a corner, I had to slow down due to an elderly person n front of me, but a staff member pushing a large trolley kept really close behind me, hurrying me forward. I was worried I would be hit. She didn’t ask me to move or apologise. Staff do work hard, but the haste will put off anyone not able to jump out of the way fast. I also saw a woman trying to reach something on a very high shelf, and spill lots of tins all over the floor. I think it’s dangerous unless you are 6 feet tall.”
“Most awful shopping experience ever, presumed guilty of shoplifting until they have rifled through your bag in front of a shop full. No apology. I take offence at a skanky cashier going through my private things, in case I slipped a lettuce into my trolley. Rotten from the shop floor up. All a bunch of c£*ts. C£*ts that wont be getting a penny more of my hard earned cash”
“Taurus darkfruit cider.
Increased the price to £3.99, which would be fine if they hadn't reduced the cans to 330mls instead if 440mls.
The cans are tall but thinner, so because of the packaging you think you are getting the normal size.”
“Do not allow this nasty company to get away with not allowing people to shop with them who do not have their disgusting app on their phone to let them do so. Who on earth do they think they are. Vote with your feet and stay away folks. There will no doubt be some who will go along with it, up to them of course. This is England. If they want to do so in their own country then fine, but somehow I do not think the German people would put up with it.”
“Went to aldi Thornaby. 5th July.super 6 fruit .veg offer had bannanas on offer in normal fruit shelves
They were 6p cheaper for same ones.keep eye on
Ues by dates ect have spotted some past it.”
“ALDI Harrogate I had a nightmare experience today (26/06/2023). In the store, I was discriminated against as RACHEL assistant store manager and ANDREW store manager. They behaved rudely, inappropriately and violated human rights. Hopefully ALDI management will figure it out soon. I await an apology. Or I will pass all information about them to my lawyer.”
“What has happened to Aldi, very little or nothing available for on line ordering, and a change in country for customer service staff who don't understand very simple questions and who's accent is very difficult to understand. And stuff that was ordered in December, sat in the delivery warehouse, till it was returned to Aldi without any attempt to delivery. So THANK YOU Adli, you have cured me of my on line habit with lack of availability and extremely poor customer service you have saved me a fortune, and lost your company money. Well done”
“I bought a dual fuel barbecue for my sons birthday in March. When it arrived the lid was dented and scratched. I called customer services and was told that it was nothing to do with them and to call the makers of the BBQ. I did this and they told me that it was Aldi's responsibility, so I called them again and was offered a 20% discount, but was told if I took this, that the three year warranty would be void. I asked if I could have the damaged one picked up and was assured that there was plenty of stock and as soon as they had received it back, they would send another one. It was picked up and two weeks later I had heard nothing. I called them again to be told that there had actually been no stock at all and that I was lied to and they were processing a refund. Two weeks later, still no refund, so I had to call them again. This time the refund was issued. If I had known that there was no stock I would have kept the BBQ and taken the partial refund. I have now had to buy another BBQ which was over £100 more. NOT a happy customer!!”
