I have changed my car details but I need clarification if I am insured as the government website says not. No phone no reply to email

The quote I received was £150 cheaper than I was paying at the time so decided to switch. Setting up the insurance was reasonably easy, although I did have some difficulties uploading my NCD. I changed cars partway through the policy, there was no admin fee to do this (previous insurer charges me £50) which was good, and one of the reasons I was drawn to this insurer initially. However I soon discovered I was unable to view my policy or make changes from the app (which is how i am supposed to amend my policy details). I had to make contact with general accident by email and wait for their response (advised within 24 hours). There is no telephone number for enquiries, only to make a claim. It took 3 days to sort this very simple issue which meant I had to take out temp insurance at a cost of £30 for 24 hours, only for the issue to still not be resolved leaving me unable to drive to work one day as temp insurance expired and i had still not received a response from GA so I was unsure if I was insured to drive or not. GA did reimburse me the £30 paid for temp insurance after I put in a complaint but the whole experience was unsatisfactory, frustrating and upsetting. I was. Ontactex with a renewal email, just a few days before my renewal was due, I was on holiday at the time and my renewal date was also during my holiday. The renewal figure was £90 increase on the previous year (granted, I had upgraded my car from the previous policy) and £50+ more expensive than other insurers (with better levels of cover). I contacted GA to advise and their response was 'this is the price, take it or cancel your policy. Here is how to cancel...' so I have changed insurers. Folllowing the detailled instructions to cancel the automatic renewal of my policy (whilst making sure the policy wasn't cancelled with immediate effect) GA went ahead an cancelled my policy anyway leaving my car uninsured for 24 hours, I was abroad at the time but not sure if this makes things better or worse. Needless to say, the £0 admin fee and initial competitively priced policy are not worth being left uninsured on 2 seperate occasions and the lack of contact from this insurer.

It is absolutely frustrating and ridiculous in that nobody ever seems to answer the phone!! I have tried two different numbers over several days and given up being held permantely in a queue and given up each time. You obviously do not want customer's renewal. It is not a simple as renewing on line as people need to clarify things personally. God help that I should suffer an accident because I would never get to ever speak to anyone to report it!!

They've emailed asking me to upload my NCD I have tried through the app and emailing them but their email does not work and do not respond. I have a letter saying they're going to cancel my insurance when I've tried and tried to upload it. I have tried calling and have been on hold for 45mins takes the piss. Avoid.

I was certainly misled when I took out this policy as I was (verbally) told I would be able to speak with a member of staff should I wish to when the policy became active. This proved not to be the case as everything was online.

Poor customer service - avoid like the plague! Was insured with them for a few months, had an accident, contacted them and put an allegation over to the other driver. Didn't hear anything from them for weeks, finally when I contacted them they informed that the claim had already been settled and 50/50 was agreed, even though someone else hit me and admitted to it. They didn't allow me to say my side of the story. They never contacted me once. Just totally poor customer service and claims procedure. They are cheap for a reason!

I rang GA to pay for a new policy but I was left on the phone for over 30 minutes waiting for someone to answer. There was an automated message saying I was in a queue, in the end I gave up and have taken out a policy with another company. I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone.

No communication, didn't inform me when my insurance expired, usually a month in advance. Go elsewhere.

You simply cannot talk to a human after the policy has been in place for 90 days. I fixed this fault by moving to a different insurance company!

Policy paid to date (no late payments) NCD uploaded within given timeframe... Policy cancelled by GA in error.... No one available to call, done the online web submission for help... someone will reply within 48hours apparently... well this weekend is a write off then. Cheers. Rubbish service and a waste of time and money

Absolutely awful service when trying to contact GA. The number that they give you is time limited, but even during that time I could not get through to speak to a real person. Would not recommend them at all! The only reason I have given them 1 star is because you can't leave a review with no stars!

I only gave them 1 star as I couldn't leave the actual review if I wanted to put 0 stars! Cancelled our policy stating they had not received our no claims proof despite it being emailed numerous times by myself (the named driver) and the policy holder as we could not upload it on their website directly. They left us unable to use the vehichle as no insurance and charged us a cancellation fee for the priviledge. Could not speak to an actual person for love nor money despite being "allowed" access to a telephonist for 35 days as our access kept getting denied. One can only assume the telephonists self destruct after this time period! There is no customer service to speak of, only claims handlers who know nothing or can do nothing. Diabolical service.

No telephone number support unless you have a claim...forget this company if you intend to buy a brand new car.....you cant get insurance on a new registered car if you have an existing car... in other words if you want to drive to the dealer and pick up your new car you wont be covered and you cant get the new car because you cant get road tax unless its got insurance. The dealer wont release the new car unless it has road tax....so avoid this insurer!

absolutely awful system. tried to get a quote for a change of vehicle, there is No telephone support, went through their online system and after filling in the questions it sent me to an unobtainable site. This is the worst company i have ever dealt with for anything.

Charged me twice when I changed my vechile to a new car on the policy, and a month later after many emails to and frow, no refund. You cant call them after a month of your policy with is just silly and now a right pain as I can only email and they reply every 2 to 3 days after you email them and they don't sort out your refund. Will not renew with this company again after several years being with them without a problem.

Have got a good quote through an insurance comparison site but can't get in touch via telephone to clarify some points- if you're this difficult pre-contract stage, dread to think about after service!

I sent a proof of no claims discount which was a renewal invitation clearly stating the number of years I had and u said it didn't say anything I can't even tell you to check properly because there's no way to contact you I have a original proof of NCD in my hand and I can even send this too because you blocked any kind of way of me contacting you or uploading any more documents even tho my cancellation is not due until next day and you took about a grand within 2 months and still trying to take more due to cancellation fee pure scam will only recommend not to go with you
