Fine when setting up policy and good rates but once you have a policy u cannot contact them! Now they have cancelled my policy and REFUNDED me for no reason... no I have to find a new insurer and possibly pay a deposit... they had no reason to cancel hence them refunding me but this all goes against me no.... I would avoid this company 100% u could b left uninsured at little notice for no reason

the company might be cheap but thats because there useless! you can't speak to a person to sort anything out and you have to go all around the houses to do anything! you just sped ours waisting time and the only time you can speak to someone is if you want to make a claim its a joke!

Terrible service. I cancelled my renewal but then realised GA had already taken my DD for the renewal - This left me with no money to set my new insurance quote up. I'm fine that the DD had already been called for, but what I am really unhappy about is how hard it is to communicate with GA. I couldn't see anything on the website about when my refund would be processed and you can't get through by phone unless its for a new quote or your policy started within 28 days. Screw existing customers. I have now completed 2 online contact us forms and still had no response. I just had to complete a new quote online to obtain a pin number that I needed to validate me getting through to a person to discuss and now I find that all the quotes have gone up by over £100 with competitors and GA will now not honour my renewall quote.

They were the cheapest quote so I tried to buy online, you cannot set up an account without an active policy, so I called them, I was on hold for over half an hour, I tried another 2 times to contact them. In between calls i emailed them asking someone to contact me so I could set the policy up. I had an email back saying that they do not have a call centre and that you can take the policy out online. How on earth was i on hold for over an hour if they have no call centre ? Why do they have a phone number at all for new policies? They at no point in the e mail stated how to take the policy out online. I went with someone else, I think Ive saved myself a massive future headache by avoiding this company. As they say you get what you pay for.

On the third year of being with this company their renewal quote was £300 higher than it had been the previous year (a slight increase on the second year of being with them, this I overlooked and renewed anyway). The new policy with them was over £700 per year for, I quote, 'no changes made to the policy'. So their increase was for TPFT with absolutely no change from previous years and £260 higher than the cheapest fully comp quote online. Their justification; "the renewal premium has increased this year due to numerous external factors such as the on-going burden of uninsured drivers, fraudulent claims, increased personal injury claims, general inflation and the recent rise in Insurance Premium Tax. I can also see that there has been an increase in the interest rate which has increased from 8.5% last year to 14.80% this year. There is also an increase in the APR which has jumped from 19.80% last year to 36.30% this year. In light of the above, I'm afraid the renewal premium you have been quoted is simply the lowest we can offer and cannot be changed. " Absolutely appalling way of treating existing customers.

Lack of ways to contact for any reason what so ever, - spent hours on the phone after my car was vandalised trying to get intouch for a claim. - when requesting the cost for court to claim the money back in took them several emails and social media complaints to get a response and it took 6 months to give me that figure meaning it was too late to claim this back through court. - at inception of my policy I said I did not want a renewal at the end, and still I got one! I was sent an email confirming this with a contact number at the bottom...which I dialled and was by an automated voice that I could not speak to anyone over the phone about this!

"Terrible customer service as they don't respond fully to emails within the 48 hour period set. You cannot speak to anyone to clarify mistakes they have made. Certainly a company to avoid."

I CANCELLED MY POLICY. THEY CONTINUED TO TAKE MONEY FROM MY ACCOUNT. I CANCELLED MY DIRECT DEBIT AND THEY SENT A THREAT DEFAULT NOTICE. I CANCELLED BY TELEPHONE AND EMAIL AND TOLD THEM NOT TO AUTOMATICALLY RENEW IT. 11 EMAILS SEVERAL VERY EXPENSIVE TELEPHONE CALLS RESULTED IN GETTING ABSOLUTELY NOWHERE... I AM NOW CONTACTING THE OMBUDSMAN AND SEEKING LEGAL ADVICE. I WOULD NEVER DEAL WITH THEM AGAIN. THEY ARE QUITE HONESTLY THE WORST COMPANY I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH. BE WARNED...

I was certainly misled when I took out this policy as I was (verbally) told I would be able to speak with a member of staff should I wish to when the policy became active. This proved not to be the case as everything was online.

The quote I received was £150 cheaper than I was paying at the time so decided to switch. Setting up the insurance was reasonably easy, although I did have some difficulties uploading my NCD. I changed cars partway through the policy, there was no admin fee to do this (previous insurer charges me £50) which was good, and one of the reasons I was drawn to this insurer initially. However I soon discovered I was unable to view my policy or make changes from the app (which is how i am supposed to amend my policy details). I had to make contact with general accident by email and wait for their response (advised within 24 hours). There is no telephone number for enquiries, only to make a claim. It took 3 days to sort this very simple issue which meant I had to take out temp insurance at a cost of £30 for 24 hours, only for the issue to still not be resolved leaving me unable to drive to work one day as temp insurance expired and i had still not received a response from GA so I was unsure if I was insured to drive or not. GA did reimburse me the £30 paid for temp insurance after I put in a complaint but the whole experience was unsatisfactory, frustrating and upsetting. I was. Ontactex with a renewal email, just a few days before my renewal was due, I was on holiday at the time and my renewal date was also during my holiday. The renewal figure was £90 increase on the previous year (granted, I had upgraded my car from the previous policy) and £50+ more expensive than other insurers (with better levels of cover). I contacted GA to advise and their response was 'this is the price, take it or cancel your policy. Here is how to cancel...' so I have changed insurers. Folllowing the detailled instructions to cancel the automatic renewal of my policy (whilst making sure the policy wasn't cancelled with immediate effect) GA went ahead an cancelled my policy anyway leaving my car uninsured for 24 hours, I was abroad at the time but not sure if this makes things better or worse. Needless to say, the £0 admin fee and initial competitively priced policy are not worth being left uninsured on 2 seperate occasions and the lack of contact from this insurer.

It is absolutely frustrating and ridiculous in that nobody ever seems to answer the phone!! I have tried two different numbers over several days and given up being held permantely in a queue and given up each time. You obviously do not want customer's renewal. It is not a simple as renewing on line as people need to clarify things personally. God help that I should suffer an accident because I would never get to ever speak to anyone to report it!!

They've emailed asking me to upload my NCD I have tried through the app and emailing them but their email does not work and do not respond. I have a letter saying they're going to cancel my insurance when I've tried and tried to upload it. I have tried calling and have been on hold for 45mins takes the piss. Avoid.

Poor customer service - avoid like the plague! Was insured with them for a few months, had an accident, contacted them and put an allegation over to the other driver. Didn't hear anything from them for weeks, finally when I contacted them they informed that the claim had already been settled and 50/50 was agreed, even though someone else hit me and admitted to it. They didn't allow me to say my side of the story. They never contacted me once. Just totally poor customer service and claims procedure. They are cheap for a reason!

I rang GA to pay for a new policy but I was left on the phone for over 30 minutes waiting for someone to answer. There was an automated message saying I was in a queue, in the end I gave up and have taken out a policy with another company. I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone.

You simply cannot talk to a human after the policy has been in place for 90 days. I fixed this fault by moving to a different insurance company!

Policy paid to date (no late payments) NCD uploaded within given timeframe... Policy cancelled by GA in error.... No one available to call, done the online web submission for help... someone will reply within 48hours apparently... well this weekend is a write off then. Cheers. Rubbish service and a waste of time and money
