WHEN IS A GIFT RECEIPT NOT A GIFT RECEIPT ? Answer ;- When purchased in H.O.F. Kingsgate Huddersfield. Although clearly stated on the reverse the 'lady' on the Chanel counter decided that despite the product being returned within the time limit and clearly unopened packaging that I had to either purchase something on her counter or alternatively purchase something in the store for the £38.00 paid and bring it back to her whilst she looked after my gift!! After taking advice I returned to the store and was given the gift voucher that I was entitled to. Shame on you H.O.F.

I ordered my items on the 10th of December. I still to this date have not received them. I have been in contact with the customer service team and in two weeks they haven't been able to tell me what is happening with my items. I was told they would get back in touch with me within 48 hours and yet again I was left disappointed. I have now asked for a full refund.

What a terrible customer service, I recevied a Illuminium parfume as a gift for Xmas. I opened a sealed box in order to smell the parfume. I didn't like it and as i had a gift receipt I decided to take it back to HoF store in Oxford Street London. I was told by female manager that they cannot offer refund or exchange as the box was open and they wont be able to resell the parfume. I explained that i had to open the box to be able to smell the parfume but she told me that I could smell it through the box without opening. Anyway, i think that they should have explained their ferund/ exchange policy when the parfume was bought, providing that they were asked for a gift receipt. Now i have £100 parfume that i dont like and will never use. Very poor customer service, will avoid HoF in the future!

I bought two Christmas presents on the 30th November 2015 and was given a receipt and a Christmas gift receipt. The presents were for my ageing father inlaw and unfortunatley were not the right size so I travelled 35 miles to get a refund. Even though it was only the 29th December I was told that all I could do was have an exchange or credit note. I pointed out to them I had a Christmas gift receipt but was told that this merely extends the exchange/credit note period. I asked three assistants who told me the same thing. I normally shop at John Lewis or M&S largely due to their no quibble refund policy and will not be making the mistake of shopping at House of Fraser again.

A Bare Minerals makeup girl refused to serve me because she saw the person I was shopping with (My Fiance) and didn't like him because of a past argument they had years prior to my visit to HOF in Birmingham. My partner spotted her before she approached us and asked that he go shop in the mens department to avoid an awkward situation. I have never met her before so I thought that everything will be fine. She refused to serve me even though I have never met her before and I was alone at that time and my fiance had left to shop in the mens dept. I drove 50 miles to this Bare Minerals branch. She came up with the excuse that they had no shade for me. I was still so nice to her and to be fair she was quite calm also and I took out my favorite Lancome foundation and asked her to just color match it and she sent me away to Debenhams because she said she didn't want to serve me. She just really refused to serve me. I was appalled by the unprofessional approach of this makeup assistant and I asked nicely for a manager who can help me out. I just wanted a quick color test- 10 mins max. She awkwardly refused and said Bare Minerals have no shade for you because you are too dark and we dont have testers etc. I dont know how I kept my cool but I did. In the end, I just left with nothing but my fiance treated me to nice things from Lancome and Chanel in Selfridges instead. House of Fraser is just a terrible premium shopping place anyway. Selfridges & Co. and Harvey Nichols are much better.

Appalling customer service - I ordered a Hugo Boss wallet (c£100) in November and it still hasn't been delivered and they will not offer me a refund or replacement. I have had to call the customer service team every single day for the last 7 days and they are still haven't given Royal Mail all the details they need to conduct an investigation and apparently even after the investigation has been completed, I should not expect a refund for the next 14 working days.

Awful customer service, delivery process is a joke if you are not available. (they try 3 consequitve days in a row, if you are not in they send it back and a refund is processed which takes forever. No option is given to pick it up, send elsewhere or reschedule, both Hermes and House of Fraser are to blame here and its simply pathetic service).

I bought 2 suits from them online. One was damaged with an big scrub mark which I almost missed. The second did not fit. I returned them on time and they promptly sent them back telling me they were not returned "in the same condition as shipped"! What could I have done to them in two days? I took the suits to their Westfield store and showed them to Richard, the deputy sales manager. Richard told me these suits were never worn! I told House of Fraser what Richard told me but they are still not prepared to listen. This is in my opinion a scam and nothing more. I will take House of Fraser to the Small Claims Court and not give up that easily as they may have thought. I find this whole episode shocking that they are trying to peddle defective stuff by refusing to take take back which is with my rights. My advise to everyone is DO NOT BUY anything from them online or at all if this is their attitude to swindle their customers. Anyone facing g a similar scam must take them to court.

Horrible service, misold me two set of sofas, saying it was foam but it was actually fibre: I saw a sofa online and quite liked it, so I went in store (Oxford street House of Fraser) to see the sofa and buy 2 sets of the sofa. When purchasing the sofa, I was told that the interior of the sofa I was buying was made out of foam ( like my current sofa) -so I thought great. After I came home I went on the house of Fraser website to re- check the sofa I had bought and on the description it said fiber interior, I was really confused and didn't really exactly understand what fibre was and the difference between the two. Then I saw the 'buying a sofa guide' on the House of Fraser website. It stated that foam sofa's last longer and are firm, whilst fiber provides comfort. Then I decided to research the difference between the two and found out that fiber sofas are rubbish, they sink within weeks and are poor quality. So the next day (after the purchase) I decided to go back to the store to check what it actually was. Another member of staff (I think he was the manager) showed me the sofa again and opened the chain of sofa seat and showed me the interior and it was mainly foam with fiber wrapped around it (which is really good) and he was like: " your sofa is exactly like this, trust us, if anything is wrong and it is not like this come back to us and we'll change it for you. Don't worry." I was thinking that's awsome ! After it was delivered, I straight away checked the interior and it was FULLY FIBER ! I was so disappointed. After I called the department I brought the sofa from and spoke to the guy who sold me the sofa and he was like "I told you it was fiber when you bought it and you have to add another 75 pounds for each sofa if you want foam, but i'll call you back and give you exact details". I waited and waited but I didn't get a call back. I trusted House of Fraser thinking it's a well known and respected shop, but I think I would've got a better service and item at a smaller, cheaper sofa shop ! Just wish I hadn't gone to house of fraser because now i'm stuck with a sofa that I didn't want !

Customer services is an absolute disgrace and not fit for purpose. In the past I have repeatedly been given only partial refunds for items because you made a 'mistake' or 'lost' the other items. I will never shop with you again I will never buy online from you again.

I brought a dress on Thursday of the House of Fraser website ready for a christening on Sunday. I paid for next day delivery and it never turned up so when I rang them on Saturday morning to see where my dress was all I got was it is on the couriers drops today and you will have it by today, no explanation on why I didn't get it the day after purchasing it like agreed nor no apology just a refund of my delivery money! I then had to run around town on Saturday like a headless chicken after I finished work at five to try and find a dress for my goddaughters christening, I had it delivered to my friends house because I was at work all day and didn't want to miss the delivery and it still hasn't turned up! I've never ordered anything of House of Fraser and I defiantly will not be buying anything again! Shocking customer service, shocking delivery procedures. All in all just an awful experience. Says it all really when it's a 1 out of 9 on here!

On placing my order online I entered my £50 gift voucher number and code and the amount due was reduced by £50 before entering my credit card number. I then discarded the gift card by cutting it in half. A couple of weeks ago my credit card bill came and to my surprise I found that the full amount had been taken from my card. I phoned customer services and spoke to one of the assistants, after explaining what had happened he asked me the number of my gift card, I told him it had been thrown away as I saw that it had been taken off. After a few minutes he came back and told me that I did not put the gift card number in! I told him that I had and saw that it had been taken off before entering my credit card. He then said that they don't have any proof of that, I told him I had put the gift card number in at which point he asked me for the gift card number. I told him again that it had been disposed of after completing my transaction. I felt like he was accusing me of lying as he said that anybody could ring and make that claim. I was quite upset at this, he kept on saying that I needed the gift card number before he could do anything. At this point my husband came home heard my conversation on the phone and told me that he had ordered the gift card from Funky Pigeon and we maybe able to contact them to see if they have the number of the gift card. I relayed this to the assistant on the phone and he told me that when I have the information to call back, and so I asked him to put a note on the system regarding our conversation and he assured me that he would. A few days later Funky Pigeon emailed my husband with the gift card number. I rang back and the same assistant I spoke to the first time answered my call, I told him that I had got the gift card number now, he went and checked the number and said that that gift card had definitely not been used. He then said he needed to speak to someone and when he came back I was told that I would have to return the order as they could not refund me the £50. I told him this would be difficult as I had given away one item as a gift and opened some of them and was using the book ends but the vases could be repacked and sent back if they would collect it. I asked him if the same items would be sent back as it seemed silly to ask for everything back as some things were discontinued. He said it did not matter and said that he would just do a new order with a collection (which would mean I would be charged again and then refunded for the first order later). I told him this was unacceptable and there must be an easier way. I had to then point out to him that even though I had the gift card number I did not have the scratch off 4digit numbers. He then said nothing could be done, he then said as a good will gesture he could send me a £10 gift voucher which I did not accept. I was so upset as I feel like he's had me jumping through hoops to no avail. Despite supplying you with the requested information, I am still being told there is nothing that can be done: this really is not an acceptable standard of customer service!

I wish I could rate HoF as ZERO. I ordered online & paid extra for Next Day delivery. Package failed to arrive. Rang HoF & was told it was with Parcelforce. Rang Parcelforce & had to drive to depot to collect. HoF credited Next Day postage, apologised & sent e voucher which I then used to place another order, also 'Next Day' delivery. Waited all day (2nd time in a week) & no delivery. Website of courier said delivery would be 4 days late! So, 4 days later I spent more time waiting for package.... I refused another e voucher as I had no intention of ever shopping online again with HoF. I returned 1st order as I was so cross & wanted to spend my money with a company that kept its promises & valued my business. Received an email from Customer Service stating "Once your refunds have been processed we would then look at some form of good will gesture for the inconvenience of having to collect one of your parcels and the delays you have incurred." I informed her after the refund had been processed, as a courtesy. Courtesy is something sadly lacking at HoF because despite repeated emails and phone calls no one would specify what the 'good will gesture' was. I phoned twice yesterday and was told finally that I needed to speak to a supervisor. No supervisor was available (what a surprise) but I "would be called later today or tomorrow". Tomorrow dawned and still no call. I have now phoned and spoken to a supervisor - a gentleman (I use the term VERY loosely) who made a derisory offer of free express delivery on my next online order. As if I would ever order anything online again from this rubbish company! This man seems to think that £6 is adequate to cover the 3 days spent waiting at home and a car journey to Parcelforce. I doubt that he inhabits the same planet as most of HoF's dissatisfied customers, of whom there appear to be many. My advice? AVOID HOUSE OF FRASER!

Someone needs to report this company to Trading Standards. This might be me if the issue I am facing with them is not resolved soon. The gist of the matter is: 1) I was sent a faulty item (incorrectly labelled). 2) When I tried to return it, I was told I cannot even thought the item was faulty as it was outside the returns period. I exchanged a number of emails arguing my point and was told no in every response. 3) I threatened legal action as this is illegal and was instantly told that I could return the item. 4) A few weeks went by and HoF didn't refund me. When I asked why I was told they don't have the item and its lost; I will be sent a form I need to fill in. 5) Another 10 days went by and no form was sent to me. After further complaints I was emailed a form (which I still have as I have not filled it in). 6) Next I receive an email that they actually have the item so here is an e-voucher for approximately £220 pounds (for the refund) which can be only used online (and it expires). 7) I had paid the item using a credit card but again and again HoF said no they cannot refund me on the card. 8) I had drafted a complaint to Trading Standards and am also looking at other legal rights and I informed HoF of this. And of course, they (within a few hours) agreed to refund my card. 9) I still have not obtained this refund. I am told that someone will call me, but no one has. I have followed up by email a few times now. 10) I am well aware of my legal rights against this company (being a lawyer). I have seen from online reviews that other people are also facing this same issue and I will be exercising these rights in the next few weeks. I have wasted a lot of time and effort over the last 6 weeks or so in arguing with their appalling customer service.

Extremely disappointed with their delivery service. Ordered an item and paid extra for next day delivery. Made rearrangements to be at home all day, only to get a text at 5.45pm saying there was a delay and item would be delivered tomorrow. Fair enough, they refunded me the delivery charges but no matter what I suggested, narrowing down a slot, arranging evening delivery which they offer on their website, having it delivered in two days rather than tomorrow, nothing could be guaranteed. Very poor service. I feel let down not because of the delay - we all make mistakes - but because they could not offer me a guaranteed alternative delivery slot. Not today, not tomorrow, not ever. They obviously do not value their customers and therefore shall not have my custom in the future.

Take care if you return damaged goods. They do not do an exchange you have to re-buy and then wait 14 days of your original money back!

I hate to give House of Fraser even one star. I have been a customer with their loyalty scheme for 13 years and today closed my account. I spent £300 on items and sent one back which amounted to £100. I used an voucher for £20 and thought that they would take that off the other items. Nope they refund me all but £20 which they send as another voucher. I called the cards customer service who advise that even though I spent £200 and sent back one this is correct. I explained I now have to spend a minimum of £50 to buy something on-line and do not feel I have received any 'loyalty' as now have to pay more or lose a voucher. All I wanted was for it to come off the other items I purchased. Basically HOF will try and take your money and don't want to offer you good aftercare service. You have to go through to two different departments (Different numbers) as one company manages the accounts the other is HOF. Both didn't care when I said I would leave after 13 years and I won't be spending anymore of my money on them. I now have to pay £20 to leave as the customer service Representative advised me well the £20 would have come off but you chose to send one of the three items back (SHOULD I KEEP AN ITEM THAT DOESNT FIT!). Do not shop with them and be warned it doesn't matter how long you have been a loyal customer they just don't care!

House of Fraser quick to take your money, but don't want to have any after sales service. Damaged goods and property when delivered by tattooed contractors. House of Fraser are ignoring all correspondence with no intention of making good damage done. Will never shop in House of Fraser again and recommend that others follow suit.
