I posted a package, as a surprise for my sister, over 2 weeks ago, by first class mail. She didn't receive it. Finally, she was able to persuade people at her local post office to look for it, and guess what? It was there. The postman hadn't bothered to put a card through her door to let her know about it! Complete incompetence, lazy attitude, and rubbish service. 2 weeks of worry for me, and such a disappointment for her. This is an update to my previous post about the same package.

Had package sent tracked , not turned up, nothing on status on the online tracking apart from post office scan for delivery... missing and no helpful advice from Royal Mail.. apart from “it’s got lost” well I know that....

The last four items that were sent to me by second class post took more than a week to arrive - one item took nine days. On one occasion I ordered something from China and something from London on the same day - the item from China arrived first. Awful, awful, awful. Don't use the royal mail.

I shipped a camera lens special next day guaranteed with up to £500 cover insurance as the lens is worth up to £300. The lens arrived next day but it had been crushed flat! this lens was a big solid metal lens and even if dropped it would maybe crack the glass or smash some buts but this lens was crushed completely flat and shattered into pieces! i thought it would be no bother, contact royal mail, they will understand and refund me the worth of the lens (at least what i sold it for). it took them up to a month to reply, they asked for evidence so i complied and had the customer send the evidence off to them. while in the post office he told me that they would not accept the lens for delivery as they did not have a post code to ship it to (it had the address supplied to us by the complaints team). he then had to go to another post office to finally have it accepted for their free post address. another few weeks went by and i received a parcel. It was the lens that was shipped to them as evidence with a letter attached. the letter explained that they will not be giving a refund for the service and they will also not be paying any compensation for any damage of goods. There excuse was that the lens was not protected well enough. I did not realize, when shipping parcels that they had to be able to withstand the weight of a truck! next time i will be sure to pay an extra £200 to have a case welded out of steel to make sure the parcel gets to the customer undamaged and i will not be paying for insurance which is a total scam! especially when they don't pay for the exact reason your insuring the package! totally dissatisfied and will never be using royal mail again! i advise everyone to do the same and to also not insure your packages as they do not pay out, its just another way for them to get extra money.

I sent a small parcel to an address 150 miles away (within England) using first class post on Thursday - it's now Monday, and it still hasn't arrived. How can Royal Mail get away with such a shoddy service?

I have had numerous parcels that have been delayed by a week or more for 1st class with no tracking details available other than still in transit. The complaints process is too long-winded to go through. There doesn't seem to be any help in place to find out what happened to the parcels other than to fill in a form whereby you get a bunch of stamps at the end if successful. Not a good service at all!

My parcel was left in a dirty wheely bin, which I then had to pretty much climb inside to collect. Why the delivery person couldn’t have taken it back to the depo I don’t know. The only blessing is it was rubbish collection that day!!

It took 6 days for royal mail to tell me over the phone that my parcel was not delivered because of a customs charge, i called 5 times. Not only that, royal mail could not tell me how much the charge was??? Royal mail also decided to charge 13.74 on an item that cost 17.32 pounds which is way over the top. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lindberg-LND-1-124-Civil-War-Blockade-Runner-Plastic-Model-Kit-401-LND401/202014690908?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649. The lady i spoke to on sunday advised the parcel was being delivered on wednesday which it did not arrive. The incoorect address was on the grey card as well. The last lady which i spoke to was exceptionally rood at 1pm today, spoke over me and basically told me should would not help me even though she could have called the newtownabbey depot to get the charge and reference number. Geraldine lied to me over the phone this morning and advised she would call me back. the other gentleman i spoke to at 12.50pm could not help and put me back into the queue. I can see why royal mail are in trouble with incompetent staff like that. Role on brexit. That will fix the situation permanently.

45 min From Bishop Aucklands to Newcastle. Delivery by Royal Mail on this distance is two days. In the Saxon Age was faster.

A 'lost' parcel is one thing to be annoyed about, but add to that a lack of communication, promises to call me back that never happened, and a feeling that they genuinely did not care one bit. This regards to the Hanwell delivery office and the members of staff I was in contact with were Ana (allegedly the manager) and Raj. Completely ridiculous and not even close to a satisfactory solution to a parcel that Royal Mail had lost and have no idea where or how it happened.

Mail was received at my family home and was signed for by my mother. She did not notice that the bottom of the letter was cut open the exact size of my UK passport. We only noticed this 2 months after as I had been waiting for my passport to return which it did not. I contacted the student finance Northern Ireland where I had sent it. They replied showing evidence. Royal Mail have told me I can not receive any compensation for my lost passport that was possibly cut open by a worker of Royal Mail. Nothing Royal about Royal Mail, well maybe there is, just as useless as the Royal Family.

I recently visited the UK on a business trip and purchased some books that I was not able to take on the plane. I paid a fortune to have a small parcel shipped to Australia where I live. They mistakenly shipped it to Austria. After not having received my package, I followed up only to find that my package had been returned to the UK. I asked if they could ship it to my home in Australia which is what I had paid for and they said no, that I would have to fly all the way back to the UK to pick up my package because it was against company policy to ship packages that had been returned - even though it was their fault that they sent it to the wrong country because my other 2 packages sent at the same time had arrived. Can you imagine the outrageous customer service that thinks having a customer fly 2 days back to the UK to get a package when they could just do the right thing and send it to me like I paid for? I've never seen worse customer service and any time I'm in the UK in the future, I will make sure to use another service.

Horrendous company. I've had to fork out more money and time getting my mail re-directed - simply because Postman would sooner leave a 'something for you card' in letter box than ring the bell. Arrogant staff at Royal Mail threatened to suspend my service because I left an angry note on my Post-box for him - this is after two years of this - I have been extremely patient!!! Said they had a 'duty of care' to their staff - perhaps they might, someday, extend this to their Customers! No apologetic e.mail or compensation from them - basically 'Get back into your box or you won't get mail' - what's new!!! Now have to pay more money to send a book to my Son at University - one that should have gone with him!

Items held in national return centre for further two weeks despite phone calls from vendor and myself. Same items cleared and resent after inspection and confirmed by royal mail letter to be compliant with 2017 terms and conditions. No chance of speaking directly to a Unaccountable and uncommunicating department.
