I ordered the Xtra Hot fresh green chile. I am disappointed. I have had mostly medium and a few hot ones. Most of them were mild to me so far. Other than that they came in good fresh condition. I could have paid a lesser price locally for mild. I can't get Xtra hot locally, so I paid the higher price of wanting Xtra hot. Sam

Last year when I ordered my Chiles, they came I roasted them and they were mild like I ordered. This year when I received them, they were so HOT!!!!! I roasted them and the smell and burn in my eyes I had to stop, tasted them and they were toooo Hottttt, I threw them all away, I believe I received the wrong order. We could not eat them, or roast them, they were to hot!!!!! We were very disappointed.

Hello Linda, Thank you for providing feedback about your order! We don't seem to have any record of you reaching out to us when your order was delivered. We cannot resolve an issue if we don't know about it. We would be happy to assist you in making this right, so we have reached out to you via email. We look forward to hearing back from you soon! -The Hatch Chile Store

Received my hatch Chile and proceeded to roast it and couldn't wait to eat my first Chile wrapped tortilla and to my disappointment the Chile had no heat. Sweeter than a bell pepper. I e- mailed to let you know but my e-mail was never acknowledged. I won't be a repeat customer.

The chilis for the most part were small making them hard to roast and harder to peel. There were a lot of ripe ones which really don’t roast well. All in all I’ll never buy this way again. Best to buy frozen peeled and seeded frozen at Safeway or if possible pickup in Hatch.

Hi John, It doesn't look like you ever reached out to our customer service team about this issue. If we don't know about the issue, we don't have the chance to fix it. I'm so sorry to hear that you had a bad experience here! I pulled up your order and saw that you selected 2-Day Air for the shipping speed. We guarantee all Fresh Hatch Chile orders that are shipped using 2-Day Air. About how many chiles did you lose to spoilage/damage? Please send us photos of the chile that was spoiled. Once we receive those photos, we can get your free reshipment set up. Again, we apologize for this inconvenience, as we know that you were looking forward to your delicious Hatch Chile. Thanks, Taylor

the box was damaged by Fed X, so it was never delivered. I also dont like the Tuesday shipping you do. The 10 pound box was supposed to be delivered on a Thursday, but i found out that if the box was not damaged, it would have been delivered on a Saturday. thats too long to wait. Also the cost to ship is higher than the cost of the chilies.

Hi Sandra, It doesn't look like you ever reached out to our customer service team about this issue. If we don't know about the issue, we don't have the chance to fix it. Each week we ship on Tuesdays so that the vast majority of our orders are received on Thursday/Friday, allowing folks to roast their chile over the weekend. Unfortunately, the shipping rates on our website are what the carrier is charging for shipping, there is no markup. Upon pulling up your order, I noticed that you selected ground shipping. On our shipping page, we clearly state which services we guarantee for fresh chile. You opted for ground, which has a warning that it may spoil in transit. Most customers receive their chile in good condition with ground shipping, so we provide it as an option, but we give that warning about spoilage. There is also a pop-up that customers have to click through, which warns against opting for anything less than 2-Day Air if they are going to order fresh chile for shipment. We are more than happy to set up a reshipment since FedEx did not deliver your package. If you would like to upgrade to the 2-Day Air to guarantee your chile. Please let us know so that we can get that reshipment set up! Thanks, The Hatch Chile Store

I received my order. However, I didn't receive what I ordered. I have sent an email concerning the situation. I have not heard anything back.

Hi Steven, It looks like we replied to your email the same day it was sent. The chile you were sent was Charger, which is sold as medium across the state of New Mexico. At the time your order shipped, we had not yet started to harvest the mild. Heat level is very subjective and varies greatly from person to person. There are instances where people feel like the Mild is far too hot or that the X-Hot has no heat. People's heat tolerance can also change over time as they eat more or less spicy foods. What you were sent was the hot, we didn't start harvesting mild until today. I spoke to the owner, and they are willing to offer you 50% off a box of chile of a higher heat level. Please let us know if you would like to proceed with this opportunity, and we will create an invoice for the order. Best, The Hatch Chile Store

Hi Alfonso, Thank you so much for reaching out to us regarding your order for Fresh Hatch Green Chile! I'm so sorry that you had a bad experience here. The temperature in the back of a delivery truck can get up to 120-130 degrees. This causes the chile to shrivel and spoil much quicker than it does when transported in a temperature-controlled airplane. While I can't offer you a refund for this order, I CAN offer you a free replacement box if you will pay for 2-Day shipping. How does this sound? Again, I am very sorry to hear that your chile arrived spoiled. We hope that you will consider opting for a guaranteed shipping method so that you can fully enjoy the deliciousness of Fresh Hatch Chile! :) Thanks, Taylor

I lived in Albuquerque for many years and your chile rellenos had no taste or flavor what so ever compared to what I was used to getting in Albuquerque. Was very disappointed and will not order them again.

Hi Marilyn, Our rellenos are definitely a customer favorite, we definitely haven't ever had feedback that they were bland before. May I ask how you were preparing them? Thanks, The Hatch Chile Store

I accidentally picked up 6 jars of salsa instead of sauce. They refuse to let me exchange them for the sauce even if the jars hadn't been opened. I'm shocked at NM business not caring. The store in Ruidoso cateres to the Texans, not NM people

Cathy, My name is Taylor Graciano, and I am VP of Operations of the Hatch Chile Store. We do not have any physical retail location; nevertheless, one in Ruidoso, hundreds of miles from Hatch, NM. This business was originally started by my grandparents, Robert and Judy Berridge, and has been expanded by my brother Preston Mitchell. My family has worked incredibly hard for generations to grow this business, and we take great pride in our work and our hometown. I do not appreciate you besmirching our name for the actions of a completely unrelated business in Ruidoso. I believe you are mistaken about the name of the company and possibly visited Hatch Chile Country, which is located in Ruidoso and has no relation to our company. https://www.facebook.com/HatchChileCountry/ Thank you, Taylor Graciano

Hi Sandra, It looks like you never reached out to our customer service team about the issue. I am so sorry about the inconvenience! As we try our best to provide exceptional service, some factors like shipping and handling are outside of our control, and issues like this can happen. Your chile was shipped on 7/26 and is still in transit. The FedEx tracking states that there is an "Operation Delay." At this point, your chile has spoiled in transit. We will be filing a claim with FedEx. I have set up a reshipment for tomorrow 8/2. Please keep an eye on your email for your tracking numbers. Thanks, Taylor

Your chili is not hot even though it is supposedly x hot

Hi Fred, Sorry to hear the chile's heat level wasn't to your satisfaction. Dryer, hotter years lead to hotter chiles and last year in the valley was a relatively wet, and mild year. The chiles unfortunately reflect that. Our team has reached out to you via email to try and do what we can to rectify the situation.

Sorry to say but I was not happy with the rellenos. I wanted to like them! I was so happy to see that I could buy chile rellenos online. I prepared one immediately after I received them and the flavor was Ok but the chile was tough. I could not cut through it with a fork and even a knife had a difficult time. It was hard to chew also. I threw the rest of that one out. A few weeks later I thought I better give it another try since I have 11 more in the freezer. Same results. Threw that one and the rest of them in the garbage. I wished they were great. I would have been a customer for a long time.

Hi, we'd had okay experience in the past, enjoy the food. This last order someone at Fresh Chile put the wrong item in, three calls later we finally got through to Lacy at Hatch. Told her we were on our way to Santa Fe and before I could ask if the item could be shipped to SF, she said to just note in the email with required photo of wrong item when we would be back. Mentioned that on email as agreed, then order was said to ship immediately anyway! Tried right away to fix, no reply and now it is sitting on our porch in CA if not yet stolen, really a pain to deal with. Also the ristras we ordered to Santa Fe are leaking badly, seeds everywhere, seems they were really old and tired and some look discolored so maybe not a great experience either.

The chili Rellenos were very tough no matter how I cooked them. I was very disappointed so I won't be trying them again. I have not tried the tamales yet so I cannot say at this time.
