Hello! The chiles were beautiful and fresh. The only issue is that most of them did not have much spice, and I ordered "Hot". Is it my fault for ordering late in the season? Thanks, Jennifer

Ordered 25 lbs. of the X-tra hot Chile as the website advised of a milder than usual crop - suggesting to go up one heat level. The Chile arrived in good order (paid the extra for 2-day delivery), fresh and firm. However, after roasting the Chile, we we sorely disappointed the the supposed “X-tra Hot” did not even have a mild heat level. So frustrating as this is the second year in a row that we received Chile with zero heat!! Having moved from New Mexico to the North Coast (Cleveland), we crave that Hatch green Chile heat and look forward to harvest shipments every year! Our friends and family in New Mexico have shared that they had no problem finding hot Chile this year… adding to our disappointment with the product from the Hatch Chile Store. We shared this feedback with the company via email and never heard anything from them… My kingdom for a hot green Chile cheeseburger!! Disappointed in Cleveland. Jeffrey Farmer Farmer7185@yahoo.com

The chile is tasty. Just wish it was hotter. I bought the lumbre but seems to be between medium hot and regular hot.

The Chili is always excellent. But this year, the shipping experience to my daughter was messed up from the beginning and despite my emails/calls trying to correct. It was not.

the chillie arrived exactly one week after it was shipped.....there was about 25% loss from spoilage and numerous pods were close to spoiling. some pod were very soft while others were very firm....i salvaged what i could and roasted it right away and had a green chillie cheeseburger. the heat and flavor was perfect for me. so other then the spoilage, which i attribute to the carrier it was good.....i would rate it at 2.5-3

We have ordered from The Hatch Chile Store for the past 5 years that we have not had access to buying green chile during chile season. The past two years have been disappointing. There has been hardly any flavor and no spicy chile. We even ordered the extra hot this year in hopes we would get some kind of spicy flavor, but it did not happen. I think this will be my last year ordering from them. I will be trying somewhere different next year.

Received and roasted . Did order medium. Upon tasting newly roasted chili. No heat at all . Have heard it’s been a tough year for harvest . Received chili in great order . Just disappointed no heat to these.

This year I preordered 10 lbs of mild green chiles and paid for 2 day shipping. When they arrived 2 lbs were either red or turning red. I took a picture and sent it back as instructed if I was not satisfied. The response was that because if the hot weather, there was nothing that could be done and the red chiles are good to eat as well. I was very disappointed by this response. If I wanted red chiles, I would have ordered red chiles. This may be my last time ordering from this location.

I wasn’t happy with my green chili. They were wrinkled up and 5 bad ones. You asked for pictures and I tried but I’m an old man and couldn’t get it to work. That’s fine. I have roasted them and will make do

The chiles that were usable were very good. I paid extra to have them delivered in two days and the chiles on the bottom of the box were crushed and spoiled. I was surprised there was not a produce pad to absob the juices from the crushed chiles. I was also surprised that the box remained intact since it looked like it would soon fall apart. We are probably too far away to have this shipped again. Wish we were closer. Overall, I was disappointed.

Hi Janice, It doesn't look like you ever reached out to our customer service team about this issue. If we don't know about the issue, we don't have the chance to fix it. I'm so sorry to hear that you had a bad experience here! I pulled up your order and saw that you selected 2-Day Air for the shipping speed. We guarantee all Fresh Hatch Chile orders that are shipped using 2-Day Air. About how many chiles did you lose to spoilage/damage? Please send us photos of the chile that was spoiled. Once we receive those photos, we can get your free reshipment set up. Again, we apologize for this inconvenience, as we know that you were looking forward to your delicious Hatch Chile. Thanks, Taylor

This review is not going to be completely fair. Our shipment of peppers arrived the evening before I went on duty for a 48-hour shift. The day I got back home I was too tired to do anything with them. I opened the box the next day, approximately 72 hours after delivery, and the peppers had almost all gone mushy. There were about a dozen peppers out of the 10-pound box that were salvageable. I roasted those and they were excellent.

Hi Jason, We don't really feel that this is a fair review either. Upon pulling up your order, I noticed that you selected ground shipping. On our shipping page, we clearly state which services we guarantee for fresh chile. You opted for ground, which has a warning that it may spoil in transit. Most customers receive their chile in good condition with ground shipping, so we provide it as an option, but we give that warning about spoilage. There is also a pop-up that customers have to click through, which warns against opting for anything less than 2-Day Air if they are going to order fresh chile for shipment. The temperature in the back of a delivery truck can get up to 120-130 degrees. This causes the chile to shrivel and spoil much quicker than it does when transported in a temperature-controlled airplane. In addition, leaving the chile in the box untouched for 3 days is not a good idea. We do clearly mark the box as perishable. While I can't offer you a refund for this order, I CAN offer you 50% off a box if you will pay for 2-Day shipping. How does this sound? Thanks, The Hatch Chile Store

I ordered Hot, but unfortunately they just weren’t. Very disappointed in the heat, flavor was decent however. I wasn’t allowed to return or get hot chiles as a replacement. Won’t order again.

Hi Allison, Since the product ordered was a perishable food product, it is company policy not to accept returns. I'm so sorry you were not happy with the heat level of your chile. The heat level is subjective and varies greatly from person to person. It does look like we offered you 50% off a box of the X-Hot if you would like to try it. I'll make an exception, and if you would like to try the X-Hot, all you would need to do is pay for the shipping costs. If you would like to take us up on the offer, please reply to this email. Thank you, The Hatch Chile Store

Package arrived on time and chilies were still frozen solid. Well Done. Not for the not so much category, 1. the chilies are NOT as hot as the web page would lead you to believe. Cust Svc says due to the weather last year. Then you should update page so say they may not be as hot as expected. 2. Chilies are mushy. 3. LOTS or "juice" in package. I've done chilies at home and frozen them and never had this much. Overall, may have to question ordering again.

I’ve ordered from you all before in the last two years and was very pleased with all of my products. This last order however I was not happy that my tamales were wrapped basically in some sort of paper rather than cornhusks, the flavor was good but not the same as with the corn husks. I don’t know why you guys decided to change other than maybe it’s too time-consuming to wrap them in the corn. Everything else in my order was very very good.

Hi Bray, I'm so sorry the tamales were not to your liking. Using corn husks as the wrapper versus a paper wrapper should not affect the flavor of the tamales. Corn husks are traditionally used as they were readily available. Unfortunately, during Covid-19, the supply chain interruptions made it near impossible for us to source high-quality corn husks. Rather than stop making our tamales, we had to adapt. Thanks, The Hatch Chile Store
