I rented a Toyota Sienna for a road trip from LA to Utah. After several hundred miles, one of the tires started shaking violently. We were stranded early in the morning and had to wait for a shop to open. I paid $284 out-of-pocket to replace the tire for safety and reported it immediately to the host and Turo. I submitted photos, receipts, and messaged the host both during and shortly after the trip. The host ignored me completely during the claim window and only responded after Turo auto-closed the claim — not to help, but to demand a different tire brand. Turo acknowledged that I did everything right and submitted my claim properly. However, because the host didn’t escalate the claim within 20 days, they refused to review or reimburse me. I was left with the cost simply because the host stayed silent — and that’s how Turo’s system works. They later warned me that pursuing arbitration or legal action could result in $5,500 in “liquidated damages” or account removal — just for trying to recover a repair I shouldn’t have paid for. It’s not about the money. It’s about the fact that their process lets hosts ignore claims, leaving guests with no recourse — even when we follow the rules. I won’t be using Turo again.

The options of the cars Turo has is great. However, if you’ll have an accident, do not expect to be refunded for it. I have rented the car over a year ago and still haven’t been refunded. Their customer service favorite phase is “ I understand. We are still investigating and trying to reach the 3rd party. I provided a surveillance video that clearly shows another car driving straight into my rental. On top of it, the driver had 14 people come out of his sedan when he caused an accident! That’s not even legal! Turo’s customer service is absolutely useless and on top of it the app doesn’t have any corporate office, so all you going to do is run in circles with useless customer service!

Turo is extremely risky and can cost… "Turo is extremely risky and can cost you enormous amounts of money, as it did for me. A big warning about this service. Rent a car from a traditional rental company instead. I booked a car through the Turo app from a host with a 4.9 rating. We reserved the car for our winter holiday. When we landed in Tampa on December 26, I was informed by the host that Turo had canceled the booking, not the host. Turo’s only response was, ‘Sorry, all cars are booked.’ We were left stranded at the airport with three children, completely abandoned by Turo. They did nothing to resolve the situation, offered no contact or compensation. We went to every car rental company at Tampa Airport, but all cars were rented out. Eventually, we managed to find an old minivan, but it cost us almost $3,000 more than our original booking. They clearly took advantage of people in desperate situations. Think twice before using Turo. They can simply cancel your car booking when you arrive, leaving you to deal with the consequences."

I’ve had my account canceled because I was going to rent a vehicle then I got the money to get my own personal vehicle repaired so I contacted the person and went on the app and canceled it. They “made a decision” claiming that I never paid for the rental. I canceled it within 5 minutes

My trip was cancelled and turo would not let me rebook. Worst experience ever after being with them for so long. Please do your self a favor and stick with enterprise. Will be putting my story on twitter and everywhere. They ruined my birthday.

I rented a vehicle 3 weeks prior to my requirement, had communication with the "host" the day prior to travel, flew 6 hours across the country only to find out at 5:30 pm that the "host" had cancelled my reservation at sometime during my flight. With no car available from another rental agency, I was hit with an overnight Hotel bill, missed family get-together and a premium to rent the next day via another agency on short-notice. During my business travel days I've rented approx 100 times thru traditional auto rental agencies and never had this happen. This appears to be a frequent happening with Turo and translated into a complete disregard for user "customer service". This was my first and will be my last interface with this mal-functioning scheme. If you are expecting a reliable, customer centric rental experience instead of a chaotic, unsure, "pay up-front" questionable risk, rent via the traditional Car Rental companies and spare the anxiety. Turo is no "Miracle"!

Rented vehicle which overheated and requested refund from Turo. They never refunded. Rented another vehicle to be dropped off and provided address. Turo representative put incorrect address in system and host sroooed off sr wrong location. We requested this to be cancelled only to be charged. So now I’m without refund from initial rental AND a cancellation fee due to incompetence of Turo representative. All information is noted in system but they still give run around. Would never use a Turo again.

Losing $145,000 to a scam shattered me. I felt helpless and completely broken. That’s when I found Mrs. Mercy. Her team’s professionalism stood out right away. I rented a chevy tahoe to go to sequoia and yosemite parks.. the car broke down 3 hours from the airport and we had to find our own transportation back to airport.. $600 cab ride, 2 rebooked flights and hotel stay later, turo says the will reimburse $249 , that doesn’t even touch the surface of the additional expenses accrued!!

When you cancel even a week in advance, they still keep your money. Will never rent from them again they stole for me once I won’t do it again.

Turo cancelled on me within 10 minutes of booking refusing to give ample time to correct any errors and blocked me from booking any reservations. Requested full refund but only got partial refund. Save yourself some money and go with a regular car rental company. Terrible customer service too.

As most people has stated before Turo cancellations policy is a bit foggy they will cancel on you last minute and take more than half of your money even if it’s something as small as an mistake or misunderstanding if you don’t want to be robbed of your hard earned money make sure you understand their unclear cancellation policy or you’ll be left upset and frustrated

They confirmed my car rental, then emailed me saying my license was invalid after the full refund cancellation policy had passed even though they confirmed my license through the Turo app. Then they wouldn't give me a full refund. I am disputing the charges with my credit card company. I would stay away from Turo.

Worst car renting company. I had book on car for 3 days and host charged me extra with some non-related reason. I contacted them couples of time but they say they will take action but nothing done positive. Ultimately I paid all extra money. I will never never use this site for booking car again in my life.

Turo is by far the worst company I’ve ever dealt with. They are quick to take your money but completely vanish when there’s a problem. I had an issue that required speaking with a manager, and after three weeks, still no call back—just empty promises and radio silence. Their customer service is a total joke—unresponsive, dismissive, and borderline negligent. It feels like they just steal your money and hope you give up trying to get it back. Save yourself the frustration and go with a reputable rental company. Turo is not worth the headache. Never again.

I’ve had issues with this company twice now in the same year. Both times, I booked a car over a month in advance and was later told right before my trip that they couldn’t deliver the vehicle. The first time, they worked with me because I had proof. This time even with proof it wasn’t my fault, not so much. I originally connected with an agent through chat but got disconnected, and from there it just went downhill. I spoke to four different people and none of them followed through on what the last person said. The owner let me know just a few days before my trip that the delivery to my address wasn’t possible, even though the app let me book it that way. I followed up via text and didn’t get a response, so I had to message through the app. Because it was so last-minute, there were no good one-day rental options left without paying extra either more for delivery or cars that were further away. I was told I’d have to either pay the delivery fee to be delivered or go pick it up myself, which defeats the whole purpose of having the car delivered. Then I was told they’d only cover the difference in the car rental, not the extra costs when none of this was my fault. Which again was different from the original person saying I would only pay $68 and Turo would cover the rest. A supervisor was supposed to call me back and never did. I’ve rented from them several times and even have upcoming bookings, but after this experience, I’m thinking about canceling. It’s not just the car it’s the lack of follow-through, accountability, and real customer service.

A listing that started at $234 ended up to be $472 During my trip, 2 small rocks hit the window causing cracks. When I didn't respond in a few hours (because I was in a plane), I received a late night, threatening text from the host Never again!
