Awful. Automated service response-said elderly parents would have to wait 7.5 hours to be recovered, then it changed saying recovery would arrive by 5pm still waiting at 6pm, 3 hours after first request. Ended up getting the bus home. Leaving car behind having waited 4 hours. To start again the next day. Wouldn't be recommending RAC any time soon

RAC Racist. This car breakdown cover is useless. They only support people whom they like. I am covered by RAC breakdown cover with my More Than car insurance but when I broke down RAC refused to come to my rescue. They asked me to pay them £161.50 before they would come. I explained them that I am covered but they told me they don't care. I do not recommend anyone to join RAC. Thanks

my first year with RAC will be my last ........and would never recommend to anyone !! After an hour and a half dentist appointment which left me sore and in pain I discovered a nail in my tyre and being an mature lady called RAC to help......4.18pm when I reported, the text of time for RAC came through then another then another when it got to arrival time for 8.45 to 10.45 I called again to explained I was a woman on my own ....it was dark and I was in pain. The answer I got was "go get medical help then return to the vehicle" after which another text came through with time extended to 9.42-11.42pm REALLY !! cancelled booking and will be cancelling my contract when they year I have paid for is complete.

Called the RAC at 8pm and van arrived at 9pm ( a good start I felt) to be told it couldn’t be repaired and so I needed to be recovered home which was fine. At 12am a truck arrived and took me half way home, leaving me at another service station as the driver was not allowed to go further due to miles driven ( a fact the driver disputed as he said he was straight off on another job so I had clearly been lied to). At 4.30 am I was still sat there and told they could not get a driver until later that day. So 7. 5 hours after being told I would be recovered, I was being told I could not be taken home. I then spent 5 mins on the web and found a local company who arrived within 2 hours and took me home. The RAC had said they had tried all their contractors and could not get a driver but I found one within 5 minutes. Appalling

Absolutely appalling service. I waited over 6 hours for recovery. Communication was dreadful. Got texts about every hour and ETA kept getting pushed back. Eventually spoke to Simon from RAC who said he would phone me back with ETA-he didn't. Horrendous experience. I will be looking for another breakdown service

My father is still stuck 2.5 hours away and has been since 17:00. It’s now 22:15. RAC are not even bothering to pick up his calls after multiple efforts to get hold of them. Don’t know when he’ll be home. RAC - maybe take those other negative reviews as a hint…though I don’t expect much from you.

Absolutely awful, was a member of the RAC, broke down, no commuications apart from a poorly functioning app. Took an hour to log breakdown, then time of attendance went forwards and backwards for 7 hours, to eventually get a phone call by a real human from the RAC who was surprised my wait was so long and promised to sort the problem and confirm with a phone call. Never happened, eventually got contacted by a trusted partner (means subcontractor) who eventually showed up and transported my car home. I will never be a member of the RAC again! Service beyond awful, respect nil. What a waste of a royal title. Which should be stripped from this clown of an organisation.

Called today on number given on letter from RAC, on hold for nearly two hours and then gave up. What a complete waste of my time, rubbish service.

We are in our 80s and we're left for more than 4 hours and not reached til around 2am. The recovery man was outstanding but RAC customer service have been unpleasant in their response. We were given a very small amount of money but not as compensation for poor service - we were told to accept it as a 'gesture of goodwill' - the following up email from them was aggressive and really upset us. We will never buy RAC cover again. Plenty of competition

Title: Disappointing Service: A 5-Hour Wait to Jump-Start a Car with RAC Customer service is not just about offering assistance; it's about providing prompt and reliable support, especially during emergencies. Sadly, my experience with the RAC (Royal Automobile Club) was far from satisfactory when my car battery died. The 5-hour wait to jump-start my car left me frustrated and disappointed with the service provided. First and foremost, a 5-hour wait for a jump-start is inexplicable, especially considering that this is a service specifically designed for emergencies. When my car wouldn't start, I expected a swifter response from the RAC to minimize the inconvenience and get me back on the road as soon as possible. The prolonged wait time not only disrupted my plans for the day but also left me stranded in an unfamiliar location for an extended period. With no updates or proactive communication from the RAC during the wait, my frustration only grew. Additionally, the lack of a backup plan or alternative solutions offered by the RAC further highlighted their poor service delivery. Customer service is integral to any service-based company, especially when customers find themselves in difficult situations. Unfortunately, the RAC failed to meet even the basic expectations of promptness and communication, leaving me feeling let down by a company that is supposed to provide dependable emergency assistance. Aside from the extensive wait time, there were further issues with the service provided during this ordeal. When the technician called. I would strongly caution anyone considering the RAC's services to explore alternative options that prioritize customer satisfaction and offer more efficient and reliable support during emergencies. In a situation where time and reliability matter the most, it is clear that the RAC's service fell immensely short of expectations.

Absolute waste of time. This company left me stranded for 7 hours ten miles away from my destination having travelled 180 miles. In the end they offered a taxi which came nearly enough after 4 hrs !!! Absolute waste of money. I should have gone with the AA. If any one is reading this stay absolutely clear. Capitalist good for nothing organisation. Quick to take your money but never delivering on there own statement. Waste!

Bro their pics are terrible. Research the products your gonna be getting majority will be have a up sale of over 3x the retail rate and considering even with interest....THATS A SCAM. I WILL NEVER PAY THAT. I HOPE THIS COMPANY AND OTHERS LIKE IT EAT THE DIRT . this is literally disgusting and high "interest rates" on top of over pricing, is really really pathetic. I sincerely hope the bloodline of the ownership and creators of company's like this deplete and not get a proper burial .

If I could rate less than 1, trust me I would. Had a car puncture so lost a tyre on hard shoulder. Called RAC at 2:30am. Told them I have asthma and anxiety and car is obstructing road. They advised they could not tell me when someone will be out to me by. It was cold, I was unable to get any food/drink. I was left for 7 hours, did not get help until 09.06am Had to leave car there and spend money going to and from place as I was unable to wait there. Useless bunch of clowns.

STAY AWAY FROM RAC , AVOID THEM EVEN YOU ARE DESPERATE! CONSCIOUSLY EXPOSE MY CHILDREN UNDER 13'S to DANGER stress and health damage. they give incorrect information over the phone and laugh in your face!!! children and my husband have been waiting for a tow truck for 4 hours because the mechanic who was sent could not repair it on the spot! -we paid RAC £200 for his arrival!! -Ford galaxy/ engine overheated. my husband had to buy their insurance and then we paid £360, which gives us a total of £560 for car recovery. he was told that someone would call soon and take care of the car. No one has contacted us for 4 hours, the children are scared and cold. Saturday, night, local hotels no longer accept guests, taxis do not pick up calls, trains do not run. my children are sleeping in the car, cold, exposed to trauma!!!I called RAc several times within hours and they couldn't tell me when someone would come to pick them up. even though I made them aware that the case would end up in court because they knowingly put my children at risk, they gave us incorrect information about the service and waiting time, and they charge £560 for a service that no one has been willing to perform for over 4 hours now !

Please avoid at all cost because been messed around on the roadside for 9 hrs on a Saturday. These guys are complete jokers and be warned because I have experienced first hand their incompetence and if it wasn't that the cover is part of my barclays travel insurance I would have cancelled this and go for AA. Shame on you RAC and your are inhumane

YOU SHOULD HANG YOUR HEADS IN SHAME, BUT YOU WON'T. I broke down at 9am on Wed 13th Sept 2023. I called the RAC immediately and the operative asked me if i knew what the problem was. I told him that the car had a burst gearbox oil pipe. He told me an engineer would attend and I'd get text messages to update. I thought that was ok until i recieved the 1st message around 10 minutes later telling me i was targeted for 2pm and i would recieve further updates. "5 bloody hours" I thought, that was til 10am i recieved the 2nd message. My target time was now 3pm. Thats still 5 hours after waiting an hour. 11am arrived along with my 3rd message. Target time now 4pm. After waiting 2 hours (which in their adverts say this is their target time) I've still got to wait another 5 hours. At 4:30pm the guy finally arrived after 7 and 1/2 hours. In the initial call I'd said that the problem was an oil leak. The guy in the van told me I needed a truck to put the car on. He couldn't tow me because of the oil leaking onto the road. I asked him how long that would take, he told me he didn't know and the best he could do was book one for 8am the next morning. I'd had enough by now so agreed to that. I was left to get a taxi home costing £20.20. An other taxi back the following morning £20.20 i arrived at 7:45 am. 8am came and went, nothing. I rang at 8:30 only to be told my target time was 12noon. They'd had 15 hours to find a truck. Finally at 1pm the truck arrived. In total I waited 11 and 1/2 hours. I could have pushed it in that time. They are a disgrace to the breakdown service but happy to take my £45 a month. Well, my friends, no more. I'll put my £45 into a pot each month and use it to call a breakdown garage. I asked the truck driver how much it would have cost if I'd have called him direct. £180 (4 months subscription) and he would have been with me in minutes and at the garage within an hour. I haven't used the RAC for about 3 years and that equates to around £1600. Don't go anywhere near them. YOU SHOULD HANG YOUR HEADS IN SHAME
