We arrived and we were told that due to a delivery not turning up on the morning, that the lounge had limited stock. we had a look to see what was available and found there to be next to nothing with both food and drink. we were offered a full refund but was told we would have to get it when we got back from our trip, we were not offered anything on the day just told to contact customer services.

I am so very disappointed in our visit. We were late getting into the lounge which was due to volume of people at the airport. However, when we arrived they were queuing out of the door to check in, which was not a good sign. Once inside the lounge there was no where to sit, it was very over crowded and tables were full of pots etc. I do not drink alcohol and usually have decaf coffee, i found that the machine did not do decaf options such as latte, cappuccino as in other lounges. Also my husband drinks kronenburg and after his second drink was informed that you had run out of this! The choice of food was very limited, with dried up pasta, soup and just slices of ham and dry bread rolls. Many had run out and not been replenished. This was approximately 12.45 lunch time so there should be no reason to run out of food or drink at this time. I feel so disappointed as we paid £50 for this and feel we did not get even £10 worth back. I was going to contact and complain about this cost and as a result of this, I will not be booking in this lounge again.

"The choice of food was limited, when I asked the person looking after the food for some crisps I was told to wait as she was too busy! And not in a polite way! No food was replenished, the tables all covered in dirty plates etc, cheese not again replenished. The lady looking after the counter was on the large size and did not appear to want to work if she could get away with it! Of which she did!\r\nIt appeared the best time to use the lounge was first thing in the morning as after that there was no chance of getting decent food, better save your money and use the Flying Hippos bar. The general ambiance was terrible as if the customer was not welcome. Very disappointed with the whole experience, we have use the lounge at Gatwick and it was like chalk and cheese, Gatwick being the obvious best! Will not be using again."

Extremely limited food selection, this coupled with inattentive/few staff meant that actually something to eat was a challenge. The wifi may have well not existed and I'm not sure any power sockets did exist. This lounge is only an improvement over the rest of the departure lounge due to how bad Newcastle airports facilities are. Whole airport is like already being in a resort in somewhere like Ibiza, loud music, loud drunks and expensive mediocre food.

I am sorry to write this but: Staff, not very helpful at all. Enquired why there was no Gin..oh. we have not had a delivery yet! Food overall was of a low standard. Basic filled rolls. Crisps run out of! Only thing acceptable was the soup. I'd rather pay more for No. 1 Lounge next flight.

What went right should be the question? My son and daughter booked me into the lounge as a surprise as I was travelling alone. They told me there was an amazing food menu and free prosecco and most of all, it was quiet and peaceful, clean and tidy, great service. I didn't get one of those things. Food was extremely limited and I had to settle for meatballs (quite an unusual option), there was NO prosecco left at all, not one glass so I had to settle for red wine which I really didn't want, every single table was COVERED in dirty plates and glasses and leftover food with no signs of it being removed (I had to clean and tidy a table myself so that I had somewhere to sit). There was only ONE member of staff working and she sat with a group of customers the whole time crying. I'm not sure what the issue was (maybe she was left alone to deal with the state of this lounge) but her customer service was terrible and she seemed to forget she had a job to do. I waited several minutes to be served every time I approached the bar and honestly felt like a burden to this girl. Overall, the £30-ish pounds that my son and daughter paid was daylight robbery. Please can they be refunded as this was honestly the worst pre-holiday experience at an airport I've had! Will not be recommending. Kind regards, Linda Grant

Not enough variety of food. Did not like having to make own sandwich. Bread was not fresh. Feel like the standard has gone down considering I have used the lounge very often.

I think you should be aware that we were pretty disappointed when we visited the Aspire Lounge at Gatwick North on 9 September. We are used to visiting airport lounges and think that this was the worst so far. In the spirit of constructive criticism, to help Aspire aspire to get its act together, here are some comments... On our arrival the welcome was half-hearted and there was no explanation of the facilities The carpet was revoltingly dirty, the lounge was scruffy. The wine was nasty, almost undrinkable The food was adequate except for the scrambled eggs, which were probably made from powdered egg The best half of the seating was reserved, but remained empty during our stay (2 and a half hours). We felt that we were being fobbed off with an experience that was barely adequate

Food selection was poor. Chicken and a veg curry. Nothing child friendly until we were leaving (curry was too spicy for my son) no soup available. Online drinks menus stated Heineken was available, only Tiger beer when we arrived. My son spilt some food on the floor, we asked for a dustpan and brush to clean it up. To be told 'no we don't have 1' turns out the lady wasn't actually listening to us after we explain again. Staff were not very friendly or welcoming. As I was ordering a drink I was asked to 'stop them doing that' my son and another little girl playing nicely albeit a little excited to be going on an aeroplane. We booked this lounge so we had a safe and secure environment for our son before our flight where he could have some dinner with us and relax. It was very clear children were not welcome into the lounge despite us paying for a child to enter. Not a single smile off the staff, or a conversation asking where we were holidaying. Nothing. Very very disappointed.

shocking! we arrived at 1.45 in the afternoi on Friday 8th Sept. we booked it because I had been in the escape lounge previously and wanted my husband to experience this because I thought he would enjoy it also. when we viewed the food they only had 2 types of pasta which looked dried up some salad soup and 1 choice of cake scones with cream however no jam! I said to the bar lady would there be other hot food arriving later she replied yes so we waited but nothing came. before we decided on the aspire lounge we read the menu which promised hot food for example curries and many other delights which lead us to part with £45 of our money. this lounge did not offer what was on the menus and not a patch on the escape lounge. my sister used the escape lounge the day previous as she was travelling to same destination as us and said they had lots of different variety of foods. I felt so disappointed and had to spend money in the plane because we were hungry. also when we went for drinks the bar lady was also collecting plates leaving the bar unattended therefore having to wait or look for service. I would like a refund because I plan to make a complaint when I arrive back in England due to feeling mislead about what we would be offered in terms of food.

"I intend to contact you when I return from holiday as I am still away another week, but in short, we paid £74.50 for the two of us, myself and my husband as this is our honeymoon, we did this for a treat as we are not wealthy people, the staff were fabulous especially GARRY, but the choice and quality of the food and drink was nothing short of abysmal, if you like whisky they had one fantastic Brand, spay, perhaps the reps for that company subsidise it? The other being. Bells, a cheap supermarket favourite, vodka gone were some runoff only, and Gordon's only, I drink both so asked for some absolute, No not available, so how about some bombay sapphire? No!! We have one of each madam I was told. That was the story for all the drinks, a meagerly and cheaply stocked bar, except for your whisky drinkers, food now, oh my days!!!! that was absolutely disgraceful, two main course dishes of green curry and another acquired taste dish, and an empty oven of mini dried croissants with a tiny bit of cheese and soggy tomato, two in the oven to be exact, on asking for fresh we waited another 40mins! All bits of tiny finger food dried up olives ect, we had no lunch before leaving home so had to buy food on the plane,I have more bad to say re the used toilet paper on the floor in the ladies, and nowhere to sit when we first went in but in my return I will be taking this waste of my hard earned money and very disappointing experience further on my return from my honeymoon, please Mr and Mrs average earner don't waste your money, leave it for the few that can afford to throw away £74.50 on a meager selection of cheap quality drinks and nibbles"

More than half the lounge was cordoned off for Singapore Airlines. Whilst we were there, around 2 hours, not a single person went into the area. We were in a party of 8 (6 on my booking) and could only find seats for 3 or 4, the rest of us stood. Very disappointed considering the money I paid, I would have preferred to sit outside the lounge at least I would have has a seat.

Difficult to access lounge, staff didn't know how to log me in even though I'd booked in advance. No newpapers at all when asked, they just shrugged. No wifi, it logged on then logged off immediately. Other guest were complaining too. Used to be self service, its now a bar that serves all. 1 member of staff serving so queues formed for ALL drinks even tea and coffee. Food unappetising. No serving utensils for ham and cheese etc, had to use tongs from other items. Bread was old and hard. Not a pleasant stay at all.

After coming back after a previous bad visit again the lounge was a mad house and not the relaxing experience it is supposed to be! It was far too over booked, hardley any choice of food, the bar que was right across the Lounge and it took us about 20 mins to find a seat! You need to stop booking so many people in to make money! Everyone in the party said they would never use the lounge again which says it all really. I understand you have busy periods, but this was far too over booked and this needs to be looked at!

1. On arrival at the door, there was a long queue. Someone else in the queue said the lounge was full up. I was very cross, as I had pre-booked online. The doorman came out twice to say there was a 45 minute wait. He did not say anything else. Eventually I saw someone at the top of the queue pay on a credit card machine and be let in. It then occurred to me that the queue might not be for prepaid bookings, so I went to the doorman, and low and behold, pre-paid bookings could go straight in. He said he had come out to say this, but I was in the queue for 10 MINUTES! and all he came out to say was that there would be a 45 minute wait! I was livid. 2) There was a very poor choice of food on display, and no obvious vegetarian option, so I ended up only having a cup of indifferent coffee. Not pleased. 3) The lounge is a narrow L-shape, cramped and claustrophobic. 4) There weren't many armchairs, and it was only by chance that I managed to get one to sit in. As the whole reason for booking a lounge was because I hadn't been well and had a painful leg, that was very fortunate, but another time I might not be so lucky. 5) The last straw was that the lounge does not have its own loos; I had to use the ordinary airport loos, and as the comfort of better loos is another reason for booking a lounge, I felt cheated. As a result, this visit to the Aspire lounge is my first and last visit. I felt that all I got for my £31.50 was an armchair, and nothing else, plus an uncomfortable wait in a queue that I shouldn't have been in.
