Pets Best started out great, but it seems like something has changed, and now they’re just okay. Now they do everything they can to try to get out of paying claims, including making the claims process more difficult than it needs to be. For one of my dogs, I’ve been fighting for almost a year now to get claims paid because they’re saying that the condition was “pre-existing” even though our vet has provided evidence that it wasn’t. When our vet provided that evidence, suddenly PB went from saying the condition was pre-existing by 2 years to changing their story to saying the condition was pre-existing by ONE DAY prior to the start of the policy (which is still inaccurate, according to our vet). At this point, at least 2 of my dogs are too old to try to switch insurances, otherwise I already would have.

When I submit a claim, I frequently get a form letter stating that information is missing. For example, my dogs name is not on the invoice, the invoice does not itemize the charges to name a few. It reads like a form letter! My most recent claim HAD all the information but I still had to take the time to call the insurance company and find out details. Why can't letters be tailored to the specific case? This just delays the whole process.

Great for emergency of frequent visits when they are puppies. But once they are older and just go once a year its a bit much. Havinga big dog the preventatives cost more so it would be nice if they had higher reembursment for big dogs

I used to love PetsBest. But lately I seem to be paying more each month (now it’s almost $500/month-more than my own insurance) and receive little in return. When I submit, there is always something that can’t be paid. I am very seriously considering reducing or canceling as I am receiving no benefits.

It took a long time to get my claim settled and I still have not receive any payment. This usually doesn't happen, and I am very surprised this occured this time.

It takes them a really long time to review claims--longer than my terrible health insurance. C'mon, it's for a dog, you cover specific things and the claims I submit are for the same things each time. It shouldn't take this long.

Pets Best was the best deal when I decided to get it for my dog, but in the years since they have increased the mo they rate to an absurd amount. I spoke to several customer care representatives and no one was able to give me a real reason why. Be careful what pet insurance you choose - because you are locked in! Although I don’t appreciate the monthly rate, Pets Best is reliable, easy to use, and does not try to pick apart my claims. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend based on the frequent price increases, but I would not NOT recommend.

Claims are paid fast. The benefits and services covered are very good. The website is easy to use. My only complaint is that the price has skyrocketed. I started my plan in 2018 and since then (to 2024) my premium has almost tripled. I'm sure the fact that Synchrony acquired Pets Best in 2019 put additional pressure to increase prices for more profit and, of course, the explosion of pandemic pets and generally high inflation including vet and drug prices play a big part. With the much higher prices, it really is no longer worth it and I probably wouldn't buy it for my next dog... which is unfortunate because it does make me "feel" better having it despite knowing I would most likely come out ahead paying everything out of pocket.

Be careful. Good overall… but lots of loopholes to figure out how not to pay. Claims take a while to process 1-3 months.

Every time I submit a claim, I ALWAYS wait much longer to receive my EOB or refund than I am told I will have to wait. It gets frustrating after a while. However, this is one of the cheaper options for me in order to have a plan that works for me. The EOBS can be a bit confusing to read at times as well. Customer service is always great though. When I call with questions or problems they are happy to help.

I have used Pests Best for over 8 years. They do make it easy to submit claims online. They are getting better when it comes to processing. For quite awhile, the processing was slow. Reason for only 3 stars is it is imposbble to change plans as all "pre-existing conditions" will not be covered under a new plan. I wanted to include more coverage on my Golden retriever as the cost of annual coverage ($1,800.00) is getting to outweigh having a $5,000.00 max per year plan.

I really have no complaints except that you continue to raise my premium due to the ‘breed’ I have but there hasn’t been any claims file for my dog or cat. What a shame.

Overall I am satisfied but I wish we would get notifications for when we are able to take our pets for their wellness checks. I took my dog last year on 5/17/2023 and then this year on 5/15/2024 and they did not cover the visit or the required shots as I was was 2 days early and they said not covered because they said was already paid for the year. Seems like a lot of money I pay every month for that not to be honored to be paid. I will have to rethink if pet insurance is worth it.
