“Want to give Telkom a rating less than one star.I contacted Telkom mobile services 081180 and spent the most frustrating morning.Our internet is down since yesterday so I made several calls this morning. Was given an option between English , Afrikaans and other African languages. Chose Afrikaans twice, yet was addressed in English..????Secondly,i know I dialed the correct number but was told it was the wrong number and was transferred to another department……just to be transferred back to the number I know was the correct one.
My impression was that if they don’t feel like dealing with your issues, you’re told it is the wrong number and transferred or the line is dropped.
They still ask if you would recommend Telkom to anyone?

“Technicians came on Saturday to install neighbors wifi, and switched off ours in the process
They came on monday however problem was not resolved (need I say Technicians would come for 10 minutes then leave for hours repeatedly throughout the day)
No one has been able to resolve our issue.
Even when it works the wifi is super slow and often unresponsive.
I suggest you don't waste your time using telkoms fibre services.”
“Telkom is probably the original service provider in South Africa and I've been with them since the old land-line dial up days. But they seem to have lapsed into complacency. To be fair, once one's fibre is installed it works ok, and rates are, well, average. My HUGE complaint is trying to get to speak to someone in this company, that should be on the forefront of communications. None of their contact numbers work - or no one answers and the helpline numbers for wifi issues, that Telkom themselves put online are 'No longer in service'. I've just tried about 6 different numbers. And if one has a wifi technical issue it's impossible to get hold of someone after hours! That's like offering Roadside Assistance and shutting it down at 23H00. To be fair, if one does get hold of a technician they really do try and sort out the issue, but come on Telkom. Get your act together or at least act like you want to communicate with us clients who pay you for a service. Trying to get hold of you is enough to make one lose the will to live. Time for you to shape up - there's loads of competition out there offering lots of good deals.”
“My contract ended in January 2024. I went to close it end February when debit continued and they confirmed, the next thing Nudebt is threatening with blacklisting if i don't pay.”
“Telkom is a scam.. i bought a cellphone in cash and my mistake was to insure it with them... after 5years of paying for insurance i then lost my phone.. they declined my claim after 5 months of me waiting and strangely continued to make deductions from my bank account... when i asked why 🤷♀️ they then cancelled the insurance.. as if that was not enough... now they tried to deduct even a higher amount of money out of the blue... when i reversed the money they handed me to the credit bereau... imagine... honestly i dont know what they want and why theyre still operating if things are not working for them instead of scamming people like this.. its a shame!!!”

“It bothers me daily; Telkom is ripping people off, and I am in paper debt worth 18k. Unfortunately, I was unemployed for about a year and defaulted on my account for two months. I got a job and paid R5k to open my account. In November, In december i was told i owe more and i must pay 40% of my areas after i had payed R4k, i paid another R1.8K, when i clled for my account to be open, I was told it cant be open, because i did not make a singe payment of R5.8K, I must pay another R5.8K, I was hocked, and further on i was told my account in now in areas of more than 8k, telkom doesnt make arrangements, the amount must be paid in full, i Called telkom for more thant a month trying to resolve the issue, every agent has different story for the day, from you can make an arrangement if you agree to pay mor than to installment, or you must pay 40% of your areas, plus current invoice, or no we dont have such pay in full, I asked to speak to a manager because of the agents logged a query in the system, and i had to start afresh, if it was loggd it woud be closed the same day without an explanation, the worse part is that all my family contracts we ending in march, i was about to get rid of them, and one of the agents told me even if your accoount is suspended we still send airtime and data to your phone , so you must pay for it, now the areas have balooned fro 8k to 18k, since January this year, what meks it worse telkom keeps trying to debit my accont without my authorisation exobitent amounts like 14k. the stores cant help they dont have authority to do that.
I need lawyers to handle this matter.”

“I have a sufficient balance and I'm trying to purchase a bundle but I'm told I have insufficient balance. Try to call customer care it's a mission and only to be told to call during office hours.. 80% of the time network coverage is extremely poor and I'm in the CBD ..no load shedding but still”
“Do not take any contracts with TELKOM SOC LTD
Don't ever take a contract with Telkom SOC. They have handed me over to a company called NuDebt after I did pay my account is in full. Now every day I'm being threatened by NuDebt to pay my account. Now NuDebt wants me to pay even more. The account is payed in full. They have the worst after sales, support.
Please at no circumstances take any contract with them. AND I REPEAT DO NOT TAKE ANY CONTRACT WITH THEM.
My rating for them is -10 stars. The ****test ever!!!!

“The most unethical work practice I have ever seen is at the call center. The agents seem to lack basic understanding of English, are unhelpful, and often rude. They struggle to solve even simple issues, likely because they lack proper training for the tech world they're employed in by Telkom.”
“You guys are a scam, for 8 months they've been debiting on one account and then all of a sudden they have my other obsolete account details they debited on and they're excuse to block my account is ' the debit order bounced' and the agent said 'its not my fault that the account the we debited from is wrong' for 8 months I've been paying them with no missed payment/date. Later I make a manual EFT payment so they can unblock. They are still giving me problems. Never recommend Telkom to anyone”
“If I could, I would rate it below zero. They should pay people to buy their useless SIM cards, not the other way around. Such a complete waste of money and energy on trying to find 4G anywhere in the country.”
