nearly 4 weeks after complaining to Mr Hobday CEO i am still waiting for their so called customer service to answer why i was told to keep driving a car that had an engine light on and was in limp mode and finally i had to pull in and reported it again at 5pm and waited and waited and waited receiving 12 automated messages saying we will be with you shortly till 10pm then as we had waited so long it was going to priority and someone would calls us which did not happen after a call to them they still ignored at 1am i got a lift home and left the car not hearing anything else but they are still taking the money

No cover for Dual Carriageways or Motorways!! What an awful experience I had. I broke down on a dual carriageway and I immediately called the RAC. They said because it was a dual carriageway they could not send anyone and I had to call the police. The police arrived after around 40 mins and they asked if I had breakdown cover, I said yes and re-called the RAC. Because the RAC were not able to give a timeframe the police insisted I used their recovery to tow the vehicle. So in essence if you breakdown on the Motorway or a Dual Carriageway their breakdown cover is useless. What's worse is I had to pay the recovery vehicle the police had instructed after the RAC refused to attend and then the RAC are refusing to contribute at all! If your happy not having any cover for motorway or dual carriageway breakdowns then the RAC could be great. I would very much avoid on the basis of my experience

Called RAC from home at 12.30pm because the car wouldn't start, guessing replacement battery needed. Had the first text at 12.57pm saying they are busy and will get to me as soon as possible. Updated version of same text sent at half hour intervals. At 4.59 pm I received a text saying I'd been handed over to the priority team and would be contacted shortly. At 7pm l called to say I've been waiting over 6 hours and the past 2 hours I've been moved to priority but still haven't got a time for anyone to arrive. Received a call at 7.15pm to offer me either a 7am-9am slot or 6am-8am slot tomorrow morning and an apology because they are busy. I have to be at work by 9am so was assured that it would probably be earlier in the time slot so I've opted for 7am-9am. Assuming they arrive at 7am tomorrow morning it will be an 18 hour wait. Absolutely appalling service

RAC patrol took it upon himself to feel that my sons breakdown was too far from him to attend and cancelled the job but didn't not alert the office so to reassign. I then reported the email which took me half an hour to compile which was then deleted due to timing out. I have been a member of RAC for many years but this experience has left me with lack of confidence in this company.

I have broken-down and patrol car came out and assured it was not my car, even though I'm covered for driving any vehicle. He can't be bother to towed the vehicle to the garage, so he made up excuses. I can't wait for my contract to end so I can rejoined the AA. I WOULD KEEP WELL AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!

I am a member and broke down last night.I was told that because the van reg did not match the one I had set up with them I wasn't covered. They wanted £199 to come out.If this is how you treat your customers you don't deserve any.

I arrived back off holiday last night and went to pick my car up at the airport long stay car park. Car wouldn’t start, rang RAC was told they had long delays today. 4-5 hours before I would get assistance. I have had this membership for years and was very annoyed. First call out in 5 years. After reading these comments I can see this is the situation all the time. My husband got a taxi to Halfords and purchased a new battery and jump leads and we came home. I won’t be renewing next year. What a disgrace.

Phoned 10.30 pm for assistance. Told there was a 3 hr wait. 2 hours later received text informing us that a trusted partner would arrive shortly. I phoned Walsall HQ an hour after the text to be told the wait for the trusted partner was 2 1/2 hrs from receipt of the text - so still 1 1/2 hrs to wait till 3.00am. Arrived slightly earlier at 2.30 am. Very pleasant man but simply a recovery truck, without diagnostics on board, to take us home. If we had been given full facts from the start we could have made arrangements for our car to be recovered the next day and enjoyed the night in bed instead of sitting in the cold. As we pay for the highest package in membership this is not what we expected to receive. We won't be renewing in August!

They left me stranded on the motorway for 5 hours. I am a lone 24 year old female and my car battery had died to I was invisible on the side of the motorway. At first they wasted an hour because they couldn’t find my details . Then kept telling me it would be 45 minutes. 5 hours later tow finally came. I was left by RAC in the most dangerous situation and they were not concerned at all. They have no duty of care. PLEASE AVOID IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR SAFETY

Not fit for purpose. Or any purpose I can think of actually. Was told by the RAC recovery driver moral is very bad and the call centres send the recovery drivers on wild good chases. Their new GPS system doesn't work either. Always shows the recovery driver the wrong route. This is from the first RAC van driver that showed up. Took me 12 hours to get me home (after 6 hour wait) for a normal 2 hour journey. Oh and they damaged my handbrake, which was working fine before the recovery. They refuse liabilty for that as well. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AN MONEY.

Just avoid like the plague. Everything you're reading beneath is true. They're literally stealing your money for a service they will not provide.

At 5:30pm my husband called for breakdown assistance...we waited 8h!! Arrived at home at 3am!! Very bad!! They sent me emails with 50% discount at breakdown assistance for what? Why RAC wants more customers if you don't have enough staff to assist customers promptly???! 9hours waiting!!?? Very very bad!
