They left me stranded on the motorway for 5 hours. I am a lone 24 year old female and my car battery had died to I was invisible on the side of the motorway. At first they wasted an hour because they couldn’t find my details . Then kept telling me it would be 45 minutes. 5 hours later tow finally came. I was left by RAC in the most dangerous situation and they were not concerned at all. They have no duty of care. PLEASE AVOID IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR SAFETY

Not fit for purpose. Or any purpose I can think of actually. Was told by the RAC recovery driver moral is very bad and the call centres send the recovery drivers on wild good chases. Their new GPS system doesn't work either. Always shows the recovery driver the wrong route. This is from the first RAC van driver that showed up. Took me 12 hours to get me home (after 6 hour wait) for a normal 2 hour journey. Oh and they damaged my handbrake, which was working fine before the recovery. They refuse liabilty for that as well. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AN MONEY.

Just avoid like the plague. Everything you're reading beneath is true. They're literally stealing your money for a service they will not provide.

At 5:30pm my husband called for breakdown assistance...we waited 8h!! Arrived at home at 3am!! Very bad!! They sent me emails with 50% discount at breakdown assistance for what? Why RAC wants more customers if you don't have enough staff to assist customers promptly???! 9hours waiting!!?? Very very bad!

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE do not waste your money with the RAC, in 40 years of driving, I have never been let down so badly by a breakdown company. I hope you read the reviews and take note. JUST 11% of customers recommend the RAC.

I would leave 0 if it let me. They made me wait 3 hours before attending (it was an off peak time) the guy as there 2 minutes and said i needed recovery. It was subbed out and that company told me it would be 5 hours. Totally unacceptable behaviour. An emergency service making you wait 8 hours to get your car picked up. Absolutely outrageous and unforgiveable. i had it recovered myself (i waited one hour) and i will be seeking reimbursement from RAC. They clearly don't want to use up resources even though i have the absolute top cover with EVERYTHING included. This is obviously their cost saving scheme. Do not use if you have any sort of a life, or, do use them if you enjoy waiting by the road side for 8 hours!

I phoned RAC on Tuesday 17/ 05/2022at 18:00 pm I asked for road assistance, I have been advised that the assistance could be with you in the maximum two hours waiting. I was waiting for hours and no body came for help till around one o’clock am next day approximately 7 hours later which I was in the bed as I supposed go to work at 6 am in the morning. Please you make a decision how supportive and reliable the RAC are???

Have warranty cover with the RAC. Trying to claim on it as car has broken. It’s been sat in the garage 3 weeks with not one step in the right direction. No help from anyone and I have had to do all the chasing.

Worst service ever - 14 hours from break down to recovery during a quiet Monday. Consistently lied to by staff when they eventually answered the phones. For goodness sake do not use these charlatans.

My son phoned you at 5 pm today it is now 9.30 pm and he is still waiting for recovery, absolutely shocking service like you car insurance. He left work at 7 am this morning, clearly you have no client care whatsoever. If he needs a pick up truck when will that be midnight. Go elsewhere not with the RAC.

First call 6.13 in evening, 4 hours waiting time given. 1am in morning no updates on ETA, no calls and no messages. Do not sign for RAC with your vehicle insurance.

I bought a car and part of the deal was a years breakdown cover. As I had breakdown cover with my insurance policy I did not require renewal. I moved house within the period and thought nothing more. I never passed on my bank details to RAC however, I noticed that £65.98 was taken out of my account by the RAC. I assume my details were passed on by the car dealer. I called and challenged this and was told that I didn’t opt out. I was told a letter was sent out giving me the opportunity to opt out. As I had changed address I never received this letter. After explaining the situation I was told I would receive a refund less a £25 cancellation fee. I challenged this and asked for a telephone number to make a complaint. The RAC employee said that didn’t have a telephone number and I should take up with the dealer. I never had an agreement with RAC yet I am out of pocket for an agreement between the dealer and the RAC. This is sharp business practice by the RAC in my opinion. Therefore, for customer service and refunds don’t expect a great deal. Seeing the low ratings I suggest that potential customers take note and chose a reputable company for breakdown cover.

Requested RAC breakdown cover at 1330 and didn’t get home until 3am! Granted we had a 3 hour journey but RAC were absolutely useless!!!! Very poor planning on RAC behalf, we had 2 links in the journey where we had to wait for up to 3 hours for one! No forward planning. Absolutely useless do not use.

Where do I start ? Having never had to call them out and test the service I have paid for I was shocked at the Terrible service. Firstly the woman I spoke to on the help line sounded like she couldn't careless about customer service. I've had more engaging conversations with a Cat ! My car broke down about half a mile from home and wasn't drivable, it was on a Sunday and i decided not to call breakdown as it wasn't far to push the car home and call them on Monday to get it towed to the garage. I called them on Monday to be told that they don't do home recovery but they would if it broke half a mile from home or more ! I was more concerned on removing an obstruction, Half a mile !! This is probably the worst excuse for getting out of something I've ever heard. Then the belligerent operative tells me that they could recover it from home but it would be an extra £120, even though I had home start cover on my policy because it wont start and needs recovering that's not included unless the breakdown occurs half a mile from home or more. I phoned an independent recovery company and had my car taken to a garage 15 miles from home for £50, I would have expected this to have been more expensive. For those in the Bedfordshire area the number of the recovery chap is 07909 777640 (Robert) Who I have to say exemplifies what this type of service should be. I always thought of the RAC as a prestigious organisation, however after reading the reviews left by others I can see the whole service appears to have gone to the dogs so to speak. Ironically I also have my car insurance with them and my annual renewal has gone up by over £80, however if I go on to a comparison site I can get it cheaper with them as a new customer ! I have been driving for over thirty years, I have a clean license and have never once claimed on my car insurance yet for being careful you are penalised or ripped off..... Needless to say I am taking all of my insurances elsewhere this year and have saved over £200 in the process.

4 to 6 hours waiting time on the road side, they don't have enough recovery vehicle to covering the customer demand. I call them 4 pm on Wednesday, its 5 hours waiting time. I don't recommend RAC to no one.

Called RAC at 16 .50 hrs regular texts to say they were busy eventually waited 3 hours then to be passed on to a trusted company because RAC waited another hour abismell service . If RAC knew they were busy why didn't they pass the recovery on straight away instead of keeping us waiting all this time
