The experience that I have had with them has been bad... I am insured as a second driver on my mother's car to build up my ncb. I had insurance cancelled due to problem with my bank and payments on one particular occasion; I received no notification from them and so was driving at for months uninsured until I recieved a warning from the dvla! Their response was less than apologetic to say the least and they always seem suspicious when you call and ask questions, as though they are dealing with a potential fraudster, which I must say I certainly am not. Will not be returning again!

From the reviews here it seems service is good when taking out the policy. That's where it stops. My daughtet's car was hit by a driver who did not stop. Spent evening in A&E and called co-op Fir assistance. Firstly fobbed off due to Bank Holiday. For goodness sake! No help whatsoever. Eventually spoke to at least 3 different people. Guess what - the hire car offer in the terms is subject to rediculous conditions not mentioned at the time of taking out the policy So - No hire car and nothing happening until Tuesday. Can only use their approved repairers (cheap options). Taking out the policy may be easy but heaven help you should you be unfortunate enough to need to claim. WOULD SUGGEST YOU NEVER INSURE WITH THEM

Complete and utter fraudsters. Had my parent as the main driver and myself as a additional driver on the young drivers policy. Included a box to reduce the quote. Asked the specific question would the additional driver get one years no claims bonus on several occasions after querying this strange policy and they specifically said yes on every occasion even though that wasn't the truth when verifying this later. To add to this if they don't receive your no claims bonus via post they will not tell you .. They just charge you an extra 3k without telling you. Avoid at all costs

I've never had an insurance with the Co-Op! Just because I used Gocompare to get quotes for car insurance, I've found that my bank details have been compromised by four different company's all taking money from my account! All monies reimbursed I should add. I will never use Go-Compare again.

Whilst I had no problems with the company per se, I was woefully let down by them and the company of solicitors they use called Plexus law. The CIS had been with me all the way and the head of the team had expressed confidence in my case but when it came to their legal representatives they just wanted to settle without a fight which is exactly what they did against my wishes and with no chance of me taking it further. I personally will not be using them again as now I have a financial penalty against me for their incompetence. An insurance company is there to represent you when you are not at fault not represent themselves to save a few pounds by not fighting a false claim. Best advice? pay a little more elsewhere to get the insurance you deserve

It was fine the first year but changed to an older car and they wouldn't insure it. Had to find a new provider

My Son insured with co op but he was involved in a accident tues 11/3/16, when he got in touch with them, they were trying to make out he was at fault on the phone without listening to what really happened, then 3 days later the car is still at the side of the road where the accident happened just cause its near our home, this is causing hazards for other road users,he was promised a courtesy car but still no signs of that. they will gladly take your money, but they do not care about there customers or take other peoples safety into consideration, any good company would have had car removed next day got it to vehicle examiners. i also think they want him to lose his no claims then they can bump up his premiums he has 4 years ncb. i will be watching and checking everything they do just to make sure they do things right, may even get independent advise. NOT IMPRESSED AT ALL

Absolutely no help at all. Every advisor i spoken to were rude and very unhelpful. I have had nothing but trouble since being with them. Absolutely shocking. Not one member of their staff have respect for customers. They speak to you like rubbish and do not help at all. Worst company i have ever been with.

We requested a quote for buildings insurance in advance of exchange of contracts, to be started on the day of exchange. One the day of exchange, I phoned up with the quote information to be told that there was no quote. After much debate (and 30 mins on the phone) I eventually got what I wanted, or so I thought. having specified that I wanted cover from that very day, I made my payment and was instantly told the cover would start 2 weeks later. Apparently the start date could not be amended retrospectively, and I did not have time to go though another application there and then, so terminated the policy and go a refund. The call handler was not particularly helpful or well-informed, but was bearable enough, I suppose. My partner phoned a couple of hours later. This time, the original quote was retrieved and my partner paid for the insurance starting that same day. All was well. Or so we thought. Now, having set a move-in date, we have phoned back to add contents insurance and have just been told that we have no policy at all. We were told that the policy that my partner had set up had been recently cancelled and the payment refunded. I need not add that we did not authorise this cancellation. The boy on the phone (an insolent, giggling idiot) did not listen, and did not (or could not) comprehend the seriousness of the situation. Eventually we managed to speak to his supervisor and were told that we could not reinstate the cancelled policy, but would need to go through a whole new quote again. The person we spoke with said that they would look into it and we are still waiting, although we have organised alternative cover as we shall never again use or recommend Cooperative.

CROOKS - Insured my son`s first car £598.00 deposit got the date a few days out on no claims bonus 9 years never had a claim since driving they said I would have to pay the policy without my no claims because of the error sending my policy up £618.00 there was no compromise what so ever they even said I cannot cancel the policy then apply my no claims a complete bunch of sharks cannot wait until the next 10 months is up and switch to a more reputable company. whenever you send by e-mail a document they say they haven't got it you are constantly chasing them because they just keep sending letters that they are cancelling your policy.

I used this company for my car insurance; upon signing the staff were very helpful. They then cancelled my policy and said that they had notified me on numerous occasions but had failed to. They then failed to acknowledge to own up to any of their mistakes and made the situation even more difficult. If for whatever bizarre reason anyone decides to use tis company, make sure you get all of your policy documents and do whatever you do, do not trust them to get back to you. You are most likely better off using another insurance company

We will never use this company again! They took £467 deposit for my sons first insurance then applied 3 days later for another £110 and have justified it by saying well you did opt for the payment to come out on the 28th??? Common sense would say not 3 days after and once called they said it was their mistake told me to call back then told me it was my mistake so tough basically!!! Absolute bunch of no good crooks no better than theives. Cannot wait for the year to be up please read very small print or be caught out as well and yes I will be leaving reviews all over the Internet including social media sites so others do not get caught out like this HAPPY NEW YEAR THEIVES

Rang to notify change of address. Initially told the cost would be nil, then it was £3.50 then a further 'admin charge of £15.00 was added total charge £18.50! 2 mins later I received an email telling me to go to their website and download my own documents! What a rip off!

Digusting service. They cancel my insurance with out notifying me on Christmas day!. The only way I find out is by police officer stoping me to tell me that there is no insurance on the car. And I get sent an email after I checked at 3am on Christmas day that my insurance has been cancled. I would not recemond this company to anybody. They have been nothing but problems And bad customer service. You rather pay more premium than have this happening to you. If only there's was one worse than very poor on here I rather rate them to be digusting and useless.

Awful customer service, bought home insurance with promise of a free karcher window vac. Upon chasing up the window vac was told that a voucher was sent via email but no mention made of this when busting the policy. Basically told tough luck for not claiming the karcher, be very careful as their offers are well written so that you do not get the free gift. They wouldn't tell me how many vouchers were unredeemed, not trying to hide anything?

An absolute disgrace! I've had my car insurance policy with them for 9 years. Each year they increase my policy and then I have to speak to their retention team. I received my last renewal from Co-operative surprise, surprise it's gone up again, Double the price of other highly repritable insurers. I have now been advised they no longer have a retention team but a loyalty team of a few members of staff who also deal with quotes and service. I was spoken to in a poor manner and tone and sent from one department to another. The Executive Customer Service team member I was in contact with didn't seem to care less if I stayed with them or not and I was able to get a cover £198 cheaper than Co-operative was offering me and I received Protected No Claims, A U.K. Breakdown service including getting me home and a Guarenteed courtesy car, none of which Co-op included in their quote! My complaint is now being investigated by the ombudsman Service. Loyalty means nothing to Co-operative insurance!
