I had to chose this company due a emergency breake down and paid 199£ pay as you go . Then the garage i been taken to they couldn't accept the job so my car has been left in their parking . After few days i paid 100£ for a 10 miles recovery to a closer garage . I have been told that will take up to 2 hours and i have been waiting from 12pm to 18:30pm . The garage where i planned to take the car closed at 17:00 so my car could not be sorted that day and i had to make another booking . As a registered nurse i cannot lose more days waiting as i work all over devon so i loose more time and more money + risking my job by canceling shifts and leaving vulnerable people at risk. All their staff are incompetent and rude, as i spoken very nice and polite and they hang up on me, they sound like none of them can't be bothered to do their job . The service i received was disgusting and unacceptable .

Worst breakdown recovery service EVER used RAC breakdown recovery scheme which I pay into via a scheme at my job. Car wouldn’t start and was told by the technician that I needed a new battery. Was also told everything else was working fine on the car. Paid £140 for a new battery. Hours later the same day the electrics went haywire resulting in the car no longer starting. It required another RAC call out and I was told the battery was ok and the car was ok but the two together did not work. The technician did not know what the issue was and fitted 2 further batteries to try resolve the issue. The car was a non starter and had to be uplifted to a local garage. They also were unsure as to the issue and suspected could be BCM failure. I was advised to speak to Vauxhall dealership / repair direct who advised they would need to assess it. Paid a further £216 to have it uplifted to their garage and after they examined the vehicle, they confirmed the RAC had fitted the wrong battery. (Not BCM FAILURE) Once the new CORRECT battery was inserted the car started fine and drove. I was furious I have had 2 WEEKS with NO car and a list of extra costs. I complained to RAC to be told they closed my complaint without asking for any reports from Vauxhall. I replied with the reports and costs and also an image of the INCORRECT battery which was now sat in my living room. !!! I was told it was UNFORTUNATE that my car had electrical issues which coincided with the battery failure. They would not accept the report form Vauxhall and told me they would not reimburse me for the battery or any other costs!!! And they would not be writing back.. Disgusting service from the customer team. Very unhappy and will be taking this further.

I pay for rac breakdown cover through my insurance, I broke down on Friday when I phoned up to report my breakdown I was informed that I would have to pay £150 because I broke down within a quarter of a mile from my house which I think is ridiculous. I will be changing my insurance policy next year. I joined green flag and they came out no problem. No wonder THE RAC get so many bad reviews.

Absolutely shocking experience for a massive uk wide company the service was dreadful. We told them on the phone car is not drive able 2 hours later a van comes says he can’t take us wait another 2 hours it’s now 2am on Sunday this recovery agent they hired nearly ripped the bumper off after trying to winch an automatic car while in park. Luckily I stopped him and noticed and said it’s an auto you need to put in neutral.. then finally on route he says oh we are doing a relay another lorry will meet you at the services and take you the rest of the way now 4am no 3rd lorry in sight he leaves unloads us off it’s freezing no power he services are shut we we are left stranded at the services on the M3 and rac say we forgot To send someone and will send some one now 4 hours later ... after several calls finally another recovery agent arrives at 8.30 am We finally get home after 10.30 am after paying extra 300 to get home through them instead of getting a taxi. 13 hours to get home from somewhere 1hr and 40 mins away. Was late for work with no sleep. Utter joke and will be finding alternative methods next time. I will also be writing a formal complaint do not waste your time unless u live in a 10 mile radius they can’t help you.

My car broke down at 1730, called the RAC at 1745 and was advised I’d have a two hour wait for assistance. After three hours passed, I called back as I’d received lots of texts saying there would be an update in 30 mins (but no actual update). On calling, I was told that it was actually a five hour wait from my initial call, not two hours. The call taker said he’d flag my situation to a supervisor and It would be reviewed in 45 mins. Over an hour later, I received a text saying my breakdown had been passed to a priority team. At 2300 (5 hours since my initial call) I called back and was told that my breakdown hadn’t been allocated yet and that I’d have to wait. I explained I needed to get home and would be booking a taxi. I’ve now arranged for an RAC recovery driver to meet me at my car today, so we’ll see if they appear. This is the first time I’ve called the RAC and I’m not impressed at all. I’ll be rejoining the AA.

So I know what you will all say, read the T's and C's... I get it... thats basically all RAC would say... Roller door closes on car accidently.... ( of course) Door buckels and comes of the frame, motor basically shot now... Three years ago I saw a news show stating that you should check with your insurer that your coverd for roller door damage as this is a massive oversight for most house holders..... So I did... I called them.... They told me I was covered....you get where I'm going. RAC stated that if I drove into the door, or fusion I was covered, but thats it... I did my due diligence and called them... there is three thing they cover on the roller door, three lines to read back to me.... the person decides not to read three simple inclusions.... Needless to say I don't reconmend RAC... I have been with them for several years as I trusted their brand as I have issues that prevent me from reading but chose them as I felt that the premium over other insurers was worth it... Think twice...

Wouldn’t recommend it to my worst enemy. Staff are clueless and have no communication with one another and gave me 3 different ETA. Made me wait almost 4 hours on my own at night time on the motorway. Disgusting service, lied about not being able to book a taxi prior to mechanic being on the way but 3 hours later they booked a cab with no mechanic on the way. AVOID RAC AT ALL COSTS!

Waited 8 hours for RAC to arrive with same text message saying they were sorry for the delay around every half hour. When the (NOT A RAC) recovery truck turned up and i told him we was waiting for 8 hours the driver told us we was the second highest he knew of because one couple was waiting 10 hrs then went on to tell me that it was not his fault as RAC gave him the job 20 minutes before he arrived. Then proved it by showing me it on his phone. The one thing i'm thankful for is that i was in my landrover and not out on my trike in pissing down rain. NEVER AGAIN!. My dad and friends are all with AA and the longest they ever had to wait was 2 1/2 hours. I've now cancelled RAC and joined the AA

My wife and I were left over 10 hours on the side of the road, it wasn’t even RAC that recovered us in the end, it was the police because we were on the side of a dual carriageway. The police use the same recovery agent for that area as RAC and when they arrived they said that they hadn’t had a single RAC job all night so they hadn’t even tried. It was a night of deceit and lies as we were left in torrential rain, forced to either be soaking wet or unsafe in the car. It ended up being a bit of both and my wife was well on her way to hyperthermia. It’s been nearly 8 weeks since we had to pay our own impound fees and lost out on lots of money, we are still struggling financially now as a result and RAC have made little to no effort to reimburse that following our complaint, disgusted doesn’t even come close to how I feel regarding this.

Poor service and complaint service worse still - where it suggests they have insufficient technical knowledge to grasp the complaint. Incorrect diagnosis made after waiting 2.5 hours. Apparently, even 300 miles from home, once you have the engine running again you are supposed to ignore patrolman advice and instead drive straight to a garage to challenge his diagnosis !

Called them last night at 21:03 they arrived at 5:28am this morning, as I was on the hard shoulder of a motorway with 2 young kids in the car this was apparently their priority 1 response. Many false promises on arrival times and over 4 hours into waiting no patrol assigned. Their solution if I didn’t want to wait was get a taxi home and leave keys with the vehicle, which they accept no responsibility for and clearly voids my insurance I’m lost for words how awful the experience has been and all for a member of nearly 20 years

RAC was exceptional following a car rear ending me in Albany at the notorious roundabout. My car was deemed a write off. From being to end the RAC teams dealing with the claim were understanding, professional, helpful and courteous. I can highly recommend RAC.

Absolutely fantastic!!! Our 2 year old decided to lock herself in the car with no way of us getting her out. After 15 minutes of trying to get her to try and unlock we gave up and called The RAC, advising we had a small baby in the car they put it on an emergency response. Mark amazing guy arrived in literally 5 minutes! And got it sorted in 5 minutes!!! Top class service! These guys are geniuses!! 5 stars!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Don't use, as called them at 19:30 for assistance and told someone would be with us within ten minutes to a couple of hours max. They would call soon to let us know when someone would turn up, no call! Kept chasing them as being told, someone will be us soon no one showed. Then at 1am next day get a call from them saying, they have no night shift on and we would have to wait until eight am (13hours after asking for assistance) Now at 4am just been called by them to say it would be from 11:30 before getting someone to assist us. Even if they do get to us, that is 18 and a half hours later. With have someone here with a heart condition which they were told from the first call we made. Do you want to give your hard earned money to a company who can't give you assistance, especially when you breakdown near a major city!!!!. Please don't use unless you want to spend your whole weekend sitting in a car being told lies.
