What an absolute disgrace of a company over 26 hours to get recovered from a local town and after having to leave the vehicle being told to be at the car at a certain time only to call as they hadn't turned up to be told I would have to wait with the vehicle for over 4 more hours with a one year old child to which I refused and returned home and called asking for an exact time for them to tell me to get my one year old out of bed and meet them at 9pm 25 miles away from home and wait as someone should be there before 10pm but could be later !! I honestly don't know how they treat their children but I can virtually guarantee they don't drive for 35 minutes and park down a dark ally for two hours or more and also wouldn't find it acceptable for someone they don't know to demand they do that or they won't honour what you have paid them to do !!!

Bad customer service. 9 year member with not one call out. Sold car in August 2020. No idea it was on auto renew as never knowingly agree to this. Took payment and even within 14 day cooling off period, just 2nd day after payment taken, holding back £25 or a £35 premium! I have not even got a car to drive! RAC are not human anyone! One email, in my opinion badly worded advising about the renewal. Easily missed! They are a crafty bunch! Was told on phone no managers available as all off with Covid then 2nd person said they had just gone home at end of their shift! Was promised a call this morning, still waiting…..

DO NOT USE Worst company ever! Wouldn't even give them one star, still waiting for my renewal money back told me it would be 2 weeks and I would get a cheque minus 25% fee, 2 months on and still waiting! Several phone calls made and been lied to by the staff, Avoid RAC

Worse recovery experience possible. Car and caravan needed recovery from Cornwall to Suffolk. Recovery had to be done by two companies due to the distance. However the car and caravan were left unattended at service station for over 3hours as second recovery people were only asked to do job after car and caravan had been dropped at services by first company. Worse still we were recovered separately so no one with vehicles during this time. Keys to both vehicles were left hidden on vehicle by the first recovery person and for during the time both vehicles were unattended. We were never informed that this might happen yet after questioning why it had happened the RAC told us they do this all the time. Please beware if you ever need this type of recovery that your car and caravan are likely to be left unattended with the keys readily available to anyone who may like to steal your car and/or caravan. Don’t bother submitting a complaint as most of the points raised in ours to the RAC have been ignored and they will not look further at it. Will not renew with them and will do my best to raise public awareness in their shoddy recovery service,

This company absolutely doen the value less money we pay foo the services never again plese do not usd this company's because take the monkey for a yers Ian brake daown van I call 3 to5 time customers service no experience people lately spk to confice call we talk to them rac phone down with us l wodnt recommend to anyone be couse you paying for emergency services is not helpful what the point buying the service & paying for

Originally, when I called up they said it would be up to a 3 hour wait before someone could come up, which was a little frustrating. Luckily, Simon showed up just over an hour later. He was really friendly and the customer service was excellent. Luckily the issue with the car was only minor and Simon was able to resolve it there and then! I don’t normally care enough to write good reviews but fair play to RAC Southampton and fair play to Simon for their quick and professional service.

Appalling lack of service from RAC Breakdown (July 2021) - had to phone 5 times when I broke down on a motorway in a dangerous vulnerable position on a very hot day (no water) and was told conflicting information and lied to on eta (supposed to be 'priority', but kept being downgraded). Took a long time for calls to be answered & spoken to by one particular operative in a derogatory manner, he made me feel more vulnerable, stressed and anxious whilst waiting for help. Over 3 hours wait to the point I cancelled and got alternative help as every time I rang the time of arrival got longer. To add insult to injury, I was charged an admin fee of £66 for cancelling my membership due to the lies I was told, how I was spoken to and when I really needed help I didn't receive it. I complained to the CEO, customer services responded but absolutely no resolution as they don't give a damn about their customers, still charged the admin fee. I wouldn't trust RAC at all and will go to another breakdown company who are respectful, reliable and can offer a proper service I pay for every year. If I could give no stars to RAC on this rating I would.

We were stuck on the m54 with a rear blow out with no spare on one of the busiest days and Marc from RAC put a temp wheel on and sorted out a replacement aswell as following us there and making sure we were OK. He even recommended places to go when we finished our journey, faultless !

I paid £245 for same day delivery of my specialist car to a garage 240 miles from where I live. 5 days later it is still somewhere half way. I have been lied to, had continued broken promises and spent hours on the phone trying to resolve. I have been placed on hold then disconnected only to have to go through an automated service again and I have been purposely disconnected. Worst customer service EVER. DO NOT PAY TO HAVE YOUR CAR TRANSPORTED WITH THIS FIRM. They will take your money and then do nothing apart from lie and make excuses

Everything wrong place phone service awful left a seventy three year old man with health problems for three hours lied about everything getting Aylesbury and Gidea park mixed up I have contacted them with eight phone calls plus a letter plus they were charging me £336.00 pounds a year for breakdown cover this company are liars not to be trusted

I broke down on a motorway around 4:30pm and called RAC as I have full UK rescue and recovery. Long story short, (and after having to repeatedly call back as I had no updates) 8 hours later I was told that no one could come and recover me or the vehicle until the next morning. Over this time period, I was assured numerous time someone would be with me in an hour which never happened. I was also assured my case was on urgent as I was left a single young female, 2 hours from home in the middle of no where, and my phone was dying. 8 hours after breaking down and only then was I told that no one would be able to come untill morning. Which left me stranded with the only option to either spend 2 hours in a taxi with a stranger and no phone to contact anyone or having to sleep in the car. I was also asked to leave the keys of the car with a complete stranger at a petrol station which I was incredibly uncomfortable with. Eventually I had to get a family member to drive a 4 hour round trip to collect me at 2am. I had to leave the car abandoned. I was told on one of the calls that the car would have to stay there as 'the contractor said they where doing a favour but wont take the car and its not their job' Which I found absolutely disgusting, At one point, after waiting 6 hours, I was told someone was on their way - it then transpired that the operative on the phone didnt even have to notes to say where I was - absolutely unbelievable. I was given constant mis-information when I called and did not receive update when promised. I was absolutely terrified having been left for 13 hours in the dark and cold, so far from home with no contact. I was then assured that the car would be recovered first thing on the morning of 3rd July, Again, I had absolutely no updates. I called again at 9am and was told that still no one had been dispatched - and that someone would call me back with an update. An hour later, I had still heard nothing and had to call back again, Finally for the car to be back almost 24 hours after breaking down. I am absolutely shocked and disgusted at the service I received, it was an incredibly traumatic experience. Complete waste of time and money - The whole point in having this cover is for reassurance that if something goes wrong, you have peace of mind that there will be assistance to get you safely to your destination. This experience has been the complete opposite, the way this was handled put me in more danger than If I didnt have breakdown cover. I raised a complaint and asked for the calls to be listened to as it was completely unacceptable - this was not done. There was zero empathy or understanding when discussing the complaint and very little in the way of apology. I was told I could not escalate my complaint, and that they are not regulated by anyone. I also asked to be reimbursed for the petrol I had to pay a poor family member who had to come and get me and I was told absolutely not and It wont be looked at further. I would avoid at all costs, breaking down is stressful enough and the RAC made it 10 times worse

Disgraceful service. Left my 19 year old son and his dog on the side of the A55 on one of the hottest days of the summer. Refused to go out and rescue him, said his vehicle wasn't on the cover, funny they rescued him 2 years ago with the same vehicle. Call handler was very unhelpful, then he rang back and was told they could come out but wanted £200+ upfront and a 5 hour wait!!. Why have I been paying the RAC?? Not for much longer!

The RAC are abmisal.. I will be calling them on my next day off… to discuss breach of the breakdown agreement… I have business cover, they covered my ice cream vans and took my money no problem… now sat in a garage forecourt… waiting for them to turn up… currently on the phone to them, been waiting for 2 hours… Luckily I broke down in a garage and they had plug so I can plug my phone in.. as my problem is with my battery and lack of power to the van!!! So currently just over 4 hours on a forecourt… ice lollies defrosting in the back… and RAC don’t care.. they don’t even have enough staff to answer there phone.. If I was in middle of no where my phone would of been dead before they answered it… Honestly, I will NEVER use them again!!!

Waited 5 hours did not turn up, they don't answer the phone just texts to apologise for their non attendance very stressful. The time before a few months ago I had a flat tyre, the spare was also flat, they said they could repair the puncture but no RAC van turned up. I eventually got them to answer the phone they sent a tow truck waited 7 hours.

RAC car check After using them numerous occasions, last car check wrong amount of owners. There guarantee does not cover even though Experian have emailed me with said information and not covered!! Not using again. Does not honour there so called guarantee!!

Called RAC and no-one answered for 1 hr 30 mins. Meanwhile husband called Green Flag who ANSWERED AFTER ONE RING. They couldn’t help because the vehicle wasn’t covered with them but offered to send out a mechanic who arrived after 50 mins and we were able to continue our journey. The RAC should be ashamed of themselves. Do not give these people your money it is a complete waste of time.
