Took a long time for the chili to arrive. We were expecting that the chili would be cleaned but it was not.

Ann, I'm not really sure what you mean here. It looks like your order was shipped on-time (you ordered late in the week so your order was shipped the following Monday to avoid weekend delays and spoilage) and delivered on-time as well. I also don't know what you mean by "cleaned". All our chile is peeled by hand and then packaged in 1lb bags. Can you send us an email if you didn't receive what you were expecting? Thanks, Preston

I was unable to speak to anyone incustomer service during four calls to your company. My call was returned four days later, which I find unacceptable.

Cheryl, We receive a lot of calls during the season but it appears the delay you were talking about happened over a weekend on which we were closed on Friday. It looks like we responded on the next business day. I'm sorry that was not satisfactory in terms of turnaround for you! Preston

I decided to surprise my parents, who used to live in Albuquerque, with Hatch Chiles as a Christmas present this year. My Dad's all-time favorite chilies. I have sent them fresh from our local store, but he works so hard roasting and peeling that I thought I would save him the trouble and send the already prepared chilies this year. I paid extra for the 2 Day shipping as recommended on The Hatch Chile Store web site. My order was accepted on Dec. 19. By Dec. 23rd, the chilies had not yet arrived. They of course were closed all day on the 23rd and 26th. I ordered two items. One of which was delivered on December 30th, the other was delivered January 6th. No offers of credit. No explanation other than a distributor screwed up. Nothing.

I was very disappointed. Majority of Chile was already turning red,, plus the Chile was mixed with Anaheim. I ordered medium hot and it was not

Hi Patricia, We don't grow anaheim chile here in the Valley. Can you explain what you meant? Also, please provide a picture of the product as it sounds like you may have received a case of pinto rather than green. Thanks, Preston

Upon the arrival, when I opened the box I found most of the chile was the color Red.

I ordered my 10 pound box several weeks ago. The confirmation notice said it was scheduled to be shipped on October 25, but as yet I have not received it. So, 2 weeks later I still have nothing to show for my purchase. UPS tracking was not helpful in finding out where the shipment is, or was.

Hi, I used to live in Albuquerque and so I know how wonderful roasted green chile can be, and I would freeze quite a bit each fall. The packages I received had stayed frozen, but the chile was pale green and had very little chile flavor. Your product is not at all like what I used to freeze. I am very disappointed. Hi Holly, you're welcome to try a hotter variety if you're unhappy with the level of heat. Classic NM varieties are typically paler than the newer varieties. Especially on wet years like 2016. Let us know if you'd like a hotter box to mix in and we'll work out a deal.

We've eaten approximately six chili peppers that we ordered. So far, they're very tasteless. We thought they'd have some kick to them as they were advertised as being medium to hot.

Hi Ron, If you read the description of Big Jim, you'll note that it is advertized as being incredibly variable in heat. That is from pod to pod and from year to year. All our chile this year is a tad milder than usual due to the amount of rain we've received. That's just part of farming! Best, Preston

I ordered Green Chili Powder and got Red. I called and was told they would get the Green right out, but I have yet to see it. I am hoping I get it as I am moving the end of the month!!!! I love the Hatch Store products! Hope you make this right.

Gary, Pre-Orders for red chile will start shipping as soon as we are able to harvest, roast, pack, and freeze them. This is typically in mid October for most varieties as advertised on the website. This year has been very warm though so we may not start filling them till late October this year. I'm sorry if there was some confusion as to when pre-orders for red would start being shipped!

The Chile package was well done, and the Chile was completely frozen when we received. Thank you! However, we think the Chile was too expensive. We paid $115 to get a 10 lb of Chile with stems was too expensive for us to order again. God bless you and your family! Sam

Sam, I'm sorry if you thought the chile was to expensive. Can you let us know why you ordered it in that case? We want all of our customers to have a great experience but can't really understand a bad rating for delivering a premium product in perfect condition. If you were unhappy with the price, we believe you should not have ordered the product. Feel free to email us at support@hatch-green-chile.com to discuss.

I do not write negative reviews but this is one of those circumstances that I feel warrants some positive criticism. I ordered and paid for ten ponds of MEDIUM heat, roasted, peeled and frozen hatch chilis on September 9, 2016, to be shipped to my house in two business days. I heard nothing for a week and so I looked the contact information up and emailed the company. I received an email explaining there had been a change in east coast shipping procedures and I should receive my order within a week. I received the order on the 22nd of September. The chilis were nicely packed in a styrofoam cooler and looked very nice in their individual packages. I opened one package the next week and was very disappointed. They were not medium heat not even close. I wouldn't even confided them mild heat but more like super weak heat. I do not like extremely hot peppers and have been satisfied with all other medium chilis I have purchased. I will order more chili from another provider and unfortunately would not recommend this company at all. Perhaps this experience is not the norm for this provider and I sincerely hope that is the case but my experience has been one that left me very unsatisfied. Respectfully, Scott W. Savannah GA.

Hi Scott, we've actually had a disclaimer on the website all year stating that the medium was running on the mild side which suggested that you should order medium-hot if you expected a kick. Did you not see that?

Hi, I show two orders both delivered within a week of eachother. If this wasn't the case, please email us at support@hatch-green-chile.com as both appear to have been shipped and delivered on-time.

Took far too long to fulfil order - no explanation for delay. Will not use you again.

Louis, Shipments of our roasted chile go out as the variety becomes available. I'm sorry you were unhappy with the chile. We really do our best to make our customers happy but sometimes the "amazon" expectation makes that impossible. In farming, you aren't stocking widgets in a warehouse which can be coxed up at a moments notice. You're growing a crop which will be ready when it is ready and not a moment sooner. We believe that producing a quality product is more important than rushing an inferior product to market here at the Hatch Chile Store. As such, the medium was not picked, roasted, and packed until it was fully mature. Best, Preston

Called today to see where my order is at. No communication stating when my order would go out. Spoke a a woman on the phone that said she would try to get caught up by a week or two. She stated I should expect them by a couple weeks. Hopefully the product is good, because getting them to you is on their own terms when they "probably will be caught up". There's gotta be more places to buy these that are precise on sending product. these guys have much to learn about setting expectations.

Hi Kevin, your order will be delivered no later than Friday of next week. I'm sorry there has been a delay in getting product out to our distribution center. Unfortunately, in farming, you're at the mercy of the weather.

For the price I paid and the amount of chile received, what a rip off. Also the route shipped: to Kentucky then to Texas....what's that all about. UPS shipping was less for more chile sent.

I'm sorry you were disappointed, Marilyn. Did you receive less than the 5lbs that you ordered? As to the shipping, all air shipments are flown through UPS's hub in KY. That is how air shipping works. Ground would have made a more direct route but would have been in a hot truck and would not have had a guaranteed delivery time.

Placed an order on a Wednesday with two day air and by Monday the package had not been delivered. Had to call and ask them to ship the package. Grrr. Paid for two day air and the package didn't arrive until the following week Wednesday. It was a gift so I can't say anything about quality.

Jennifer, orders must be received by noon on Tuesday to go out the following day as advertised on our website. We also try not to ship perishables on Wednesdays as even a single day delay will result in the box sitting somewhere over the weekend and spoiling. That is something we really want to avoid!

This is the second year I have used The Hatch Chile Store. Their chiles are great, yes. But, my local Wegmann's is selling Hatch Chiles at$1.99 a pound for the same size, same flavor, and in my opinion, the same quality......obtained , it would seem from another Hatch Chile farm in Hatch, NM. I spent $60 for chilies that I could have bought for $20. Sorry, but i won't be ordering online from here again.

Unfortunately, chile is much more expensive to ship direct to individuals than it is to ship full truck-loads to grocery stores. We do ship to grocery stores as well but have the online shop in order to allow anyone to order authentic Hatch chile even if they can't find it locally. I'm sorry that upsets you but it is just the way shipping works. Small parcel is 10-20 times more expensive per unit than booking a full truck.

Very disappointed. The chiles that arrived were yellow not the traditional deep green New Mexican chiles. Reminded me more of chiles you would get in Mexico. Did the weather play a role in this years crop not being very good? Very mild and not much flavor.
