I do not write negative reviews but this is one of those circumstances that I feel warrants some positive criticism. I ordered and paid for ten ponds of MEDIUM heat, roasted, peeled and frozen hatch chilis on September 9, 2016, to be shipped to my house in two business days. I heard nothing for a week and so I looked the contact information up and emailed the company. I received an email explaining there had been a change in east coast shipping procedures and I should receive my order within a week. I received the order on the 22nd of September. The chilis were nicely packed in a styrofoam cooler and looked very nice in their individual packages. I opened one package the next week and was very disappointed. They were not medium heat not even close. I wouldn't even confided them mild heat but more like super weak heat. I do not like extremely hot peppers and have been satisfied with all other medium chilis I have purchased. I will order more chili from another provider and unfortunately would not recommend this company at all. Perhaps this experience is not the norm for this provider and I sincerely hope that is the case but my experience has been one that left me very unsatisfied. Respectfully, Scott W. Savannah GA.

Hi Scott, we've actually had a disclaimer on the website all year stating that the medium was running on the mild side which suggested that you should order medium-hot if you expected a kick. Did you not see that?

I place two orders and only one was send on time, the second order we have to ask were was at and was not send till we ask it took almost three weeks to be deliver. Hope next time is better. Jorge Moy

Louis, Shipments of our roasted chile go out as the variety becomes available. I'm sorry you were unhappy with the chile. We really do our best to make our customers happy but sometimes the "amazon" expectation makes that impossible. In farming, you aren't stocking widgets in a warehouse which can be coxed up at a moments notice. You're growing a crop which will be ready when it is ready and not a moment sooner. We believe that producing a quality product is more important than rushing an inferior product to market here at the Hatch Chile Store. As such, the medium was not picked, roasted, and packed until it was fully mature. Best, Preston

Called today to see where my order is at. No communication stating when my order would go out. Spoke a a woman on the phone that said she would try to get caught up by a week or two. She stated I should expect them by a couple weeks. Hopefully the product is good, because getting them to you is on their own terms when they "probably will be caught up". There's gotta be more places to buy these that are precise on sending product. these guys have much to learn about setting expectations.

Hi Kevin, your order will be delivered no later than Friday of next week. I'm sorry there has been a delay in getting product out to our distribution center. Unfortunately, in farming, you're at the mercy of the weather.

For the price I paid and the amount of chile received, what a rip off. Also the route shipped: to Kentucky then to Texas....what's that all about. UPS shipping was less for more chile sent.

I'm sorry you were disappointed, Marilyn. Did you receive less than the 5lbs that you ordered? As to the shipping, all air shipments are flown through UPS's hub in KY. That is how air shipping works. Ground would have made a more direct route but would have been in a hot truck and would not have had a guaranteed delivery time.

Placed an order on a Wednesday with two day air and by Monday the package had not been delivered. Had to call and ask them to ship the package. Grrr. Paid for two day air and the package didn't arrive until the following week Wednesday. It was a gift so I can't say anything about quality.

Jennifer, orders must be received by noon on Tuesday to go out the following day as advertised on our website. We also try not to ship perishables on Wednesdays as even a single day delay will result in the box sitting somewhere over the weekend and spoiling. That is something we really want to avoid!

This is the second year I have used The Hatch Chile Store. Their chiles are great, yes. But, my local Wegmann's is selling Hatch Chiles at$1.99 a pound for the same size, same flavor, and in my opinion, the same quality......obtained , it would seem from another Hatch Chile farm in Hatch, NM. I spent $60 for chilies that I could have bought for $20. Sorry, but i won't be ordering online from here again.

Unfortunately, chile is much more expensive to ship direct to individuals than it is to ship full truck-loads to grocery stores. We do ship to grocery stores as well but have the online shop in order to allow anyone to order authentic Hatch chile even if they can't find it locally. I'm sorry that upsets you but it is just the way shipping works. Small parcel is 10-20 times more expensive per unit than booking a full truck.

Very disappointed. The chiles that arrived were yellow not the traditional deep green New Mexican chiles. Reminded me more of chiles you would get in Mexico. Did the weather play a role in this years crop not being very good? Very mild and not much flavor.

My order was packaged in Saturday, but not received until Thursday despite paying for 2 day delivery. All but 4 peppers were okay, but not as fresh as expected.

KR, We only ship fresh chile on Tuesdays, as is advertised on our website. 2-Day shipments which go out on Tuesday arrive on Thursday so this order was delivered on-time. Thanks, Preston

I am disappointed, my green chili showed in a wet box, wrapped in a plastic then inside a nice dry box. I am not placing blame, but is not the service I was paying for, nor expecting. I do not believe I will do business elsewhere.

My chilies were late getting to me. The box was literally falling apart. There was a hole in it. I am not sure I received them all. I don't think I will make any future purchases. I didn't like they were shipped. They were not placed in a plastic bag and the box was no sturdy enough. I was thoroughly disappointed.

Well, first when the website advertised a 2 day shipment it should be specified the day when it is being sent since that is what we pay for, i ordered it on friday , and customer service told me my chile would be picked on tuesday, where is the 2 day shipment when ordered ? UPS. delivered half my order late on thursday evening around 8pm , the other half came friday late 6pm late afternoon, both were in 10 pound boxes, not one for complaining, my order online said they were both sent on tuesday. My chile big jim's was turning red and curling, wish there would be more clarity on shipping.....

Steve, Our website does clearly advertise that fresh chile is picked and shipped every Tuesday. If you take a look at any of our fresh products, there is a clear note in bold, colored text on each product. As to a late delivery of one box, we can definitely file a claim with UPS if that is the case. Can you send an email to support@hatch-green-chile.com outlining the delivery timeline? Someone will get a claim filed and we can either re-ship the bad box or get a credit to you for the shipping. Best, Preston

A lot of them were opened up and seeds were all over the box. 16 had to be tossed. I realize they were sent ground and we've had humidity but the condition of the peppers was unacceptable. I'm almost sure if you have a person who does quality control to oversee the peppers being shipped they most certainly would not have sent the ones I got. As I scrolled down it said UPLOAD PHOTO- I wish I would've taken a picture.

Sorry can't say it did. I ordered the chiles weeks ago with the recommended priority shipping and it took so long for you to ship I was out of town by the time they arrived. They sat on a hot porch for days. One chile was completely rotten...I have rinsed the rest hoping to save them. Don't have time to roast them until the weekend. We shall see how it goes.

I ordered one 5 lb. box of mild chile and one 5 lb. box of hot. Though they arrived on the same day, the hot had mold growing inside the box on top of all the chile's. I have read through your shipping practice section and can attest to the fact that no, your boxes did not arrive in well ventilated boxes with holes. This would be why mold was able to grow all over my order. I am greatly disappointed by your company at this time. Having grown up in Albuquerque all my life and eating the fantastic flavors our home state has to offer, I had hoped to recapture that nostalgia and share it with my newly forming family. If you state in your website to ship a certain way to help prevent mold growth and maintain freshness, please follow through; I now have a trash can full of chile I can't enjoy. I know your company is better than this. You are handling a piece of New Mexican pride and heritage here! Act like it!!

Hi William, Per our phone call yesterday, you are receiving a brand new box of Hot this coming week. We have never shipped 5lb boxes with vents and actually tend to have more problems with the larger vented boxes (not due to the vents, due to using carriers like FedEx and UPS who use trucks rather than planes to move product more than the USPS). We strive to provide a great experience and part of that is replacing product which is damaged in transit. I'm sorry that was not satisfactory to you but hope you'll consider revising this review. Sorry to say but my order that was made has yet to be delivered. First told due to rain and couldn't pick. Sense then no contact as when it would be shipped. So no not every happy. Being you advertise a quick delever. ????

Well, according to USPS they got the shipment information on August 9th. But I still do not have my chilies and we are scheduled to leave on the 16th of August. If they are not here by then, they will sit at USPS for quite awhile.

Susan, Our free shipping option is a 2-3 day service and your chile looks like it has been available for pickup at your local post office for two days now.
