Website was very difficult to navigate. I wanted to order the same thing I ordered last year which was 5lbs of roasted Big Jims. At check out the wrong address kept coming up and it took me 30 minutes to get it straightened out. What was delivered to me was 5lbs of fresh chilis for which I paid $6 lb. I can get fresh hatches chilis at Whole Foods for $1.99 lb. ($10 vs $30). The whole process was confusing and probably my screwup but the whole deal was very disappointing. Thank You

The texture of the chilies were stringy. They appeared to be quite old or maybe just freezer burnt. Had a lot of Hatchs's Chilies and loved them. This batch just seemed subpar.

This was the first time I ordered with you. I ordered 20 pounds of whole mild chili. When I received the package there was only one box of 5 pounds of chopped chili. Being the first time I didn't know if you sent it 5 pounds at a time or what. I wouldn't think so. I called 3 or 4 times leaving a message 2 times. I kept calling to see if I could speak with a person. Finally I spoke with someone and told them what had happened. They said they would check it out. The calls were made on Thursday and Friday. Monday a lady returned my call from the message I left and that is when I explained I had ordered whole chili and this was chopped. It would have been nice to have gotten my 20 pounds of whole chili and not 15 pounds of whole and 5 pounds of chopped. I had offered to send the chopped back.

Romulo, There's actually a notice in bold, colored, all-caps on our medium-hot which states that "Medium hot is running milder than usual, please order hot if you want a good kick". Thanks, The Hatch Chile Store

I ordered the medium hot red chilis. The box was so marked however, they were barely mild. They had as much 'heat' as a red bell pepper. When I called about this I was told Big Jim's are very inconsistent. I placed my order on the phone and your rep never mentioned that to me. So, yes, I'm very disappointed.

I ordered hot and received what must be the very mildest. Very disappointed; it was not a cheap order and I expected it would be correct. Sorry for the bad review, but I now have a BUNCH of green chiles that have NO hot flavor.

The process as a whole was very easy, which I appreciated. However, the product that was delivered to me was extremely inferior to the product I ordered. My order was for a 5 pound batch of medium-hot chiles and once I roasted the chiles and ate a few (on two separate occasions) I was very disappointed with the level of heat provided by the chiles. I detected no hint of spice when eating the chiles and it almost tasted like I was simply eating a bell pepper rather than the famous Hatch green chile I came to love after living in Albuquerque for five years. I'm not sure what went wrong but I would very much appreciate some type of explanation as to why the chiles were not spicy.

Been ordering for years with rotten peppers in every box. I shrug it off. This year, half of a 25# box was rotten. Cost was $55 with a $50 shipping cost. I received replacement peppers, about 12# and there were rotten ones in there. Again. After four years of rotten peppers arriving I can't recommend them. The cost is exorbitant for shipping and if they're arriving rotten it's a quality control issue (timing of shipping/freshness) or a shipping company issue. They keep calling and emailing me to change my reviews. The woman hung up on me after I explained the REASON for my poor review. Hung up. Nice. Look elsewhere for your hatch chile peppers.

Kim, Our records indicated that we completely replaced your 25lb box with a new one. We shipped both boxes via 2-Day Air which we guarantee the freshness of on delivery. None of our representatives are allowed to "hang up" on customers. I'm going to assume the call was disconnected and apologize for that. As to quality control, we pick and ship same-day and have fabulous results with 2-Day shipping. If your replacement box arrived with spoilage, all you need to do is send an email to support@hatch-green-chile.com including pictures of the damaged our spoiled chile (as outlined in our shipping guarantee) and we'll ship a fresh box out next week. Thanks, Preston

Ordered the medium hot and extra hots, neither were much hotter than a green bell pepper. We are from Colorado so very familiar with hatch green chilies, these look the part but they certainly don't taste the part.

Order was pulled due to storm, I received voicemail that it would be shipped 18 September. Hopefully it will be delivered on time. For my son's birthday which was today. He is stationed in Florida and misses hatch chile.

I ordered 50lbs of the Lumbre and 50lbs of the Sandia this year. Mr order was coming from New Mexico to Georgia. After receiving the Sandias I noticed a couple of pounds had gone bad at the bottom of the box. Then after roasting, peeling and consuming the product very regularly I have noticed that the heat is very inconsistent this year and I have more mild than hot. The 50lbs of Lumbre I had ordered this year did not come at the same time as the Sandia. When I received the product I again noticed while roasting the green chile a couple of pounds had gone bad at the bottom again. Other than that the heat and the taste were as advertised on the website. The reason for the 2 star rating is because the amount of loss in the product I ordered. This is also the third review I have written (one for Sandia and one for Lumbre) and the other two were not posted. I believe all reviews should get posted regardless of the rating to keep your future or current costumers informed about the potential product they order.

the chilies that i recieved were old. Not fresh. I'll have to deal with it but iI thought if I gave enough time I'd get this years batch. I'm from New Mexico and very disappointed in the quality. I should've known something was up when shipping started from up north.

Johnny, the chile you received was definitely from this year. We utilize distribution centers in order to get you the best shipping rates possible for our chile. Why would you think they were old?

As a return customer, we couldn't wait for the next year's crop. Your company was very, gracious and the chili arrived just as promised. Some of the most delicious green chili I have ever tasted as family members going back at least 5 generations have used this harvest time to gather together, roast the chili usually grown by one or more of these generations in New Mexico. Sorrowfully, we no longer have family in New Mexico and have since gone without for years. Sometimes we'd get lucky and a vendor would come to our city and we could purchase it there. Sometimes we never knew what we were really getting and would end up giving our purchase away because it was not mild as the vendor told us. This year, we ordered the same as we did last year, Mild chili. The chili arrived just as before and we were so happy but were most saddened when we discovered we had received not a mild, but a very hot-hot chili. After contacting one Hatch representative, I was instructed to take pictures of the box and a sample of the chili. I did as requested. I was also instructed not to return the chili to Hatch, but to give it away and a replacement mild chili would ship. Apologies and very, very nice representative of your company made me feel so happy that we found you. Now, I'm told that not only will I not receive a replacement, but I am also out the $100. Your company is huge. A couple of boxes replacement would have insured you a lifelong customer and even new ones based on my word of mouth. Poor form The Hatch Chili Store.com poor form!

Brianna, A few things in response here. Our mild is a little variable in heat from pod to pod but has not run any hotter than usual this year. We did receive pictures from you and what you received was definitely mild. We did, indeed, send another box to you so you can see if our next field of mild is more to your liking but you have to understand that this is not a one-sided transaction. You are not "out" anything. You received the chile you paid for, plus another 25lb box which we threw in for free since you were not satisfied. Our company is NOT huge. My wife, myself, and my brother in law make up the only full time employees and cannot afford to re-ship someone the same product that they have already received for free. Again, I'm sorry that a New Mexico mild was too hot for you but if that is the case, I honestly do not have anything milder to send you. Typically when customers complain about something being too mild or two hot, we comp them a box (and they pay for the shipping) of the next mildest or hottest variety we grow but there isn't anything out there milder than our 1904. In this case, we sent another 25lb box (your original order was for 2) completely free of charge. I'm sorry that was not satisfactory to you but that is really the best we can do. You are welcome to order from our competitor, the Hatch Chile Express, if how we handled this situation is not appropriate. I guarantee that we do a better job and handle situations like this better than any of our competitors though. Thanks, Preston

I accepted the free shipping promo. I know now that if you order fresh, you need to get expedited shipping. I ordered 10lbs and could only use maybe half due to peppers being bruised and limp.

James, We guarantee all shipments that we offer free shipping on to be free from spoilage. If you had spoilage, did you reach out to us? I'd be happy to schedule a re-ship of half your order if that is what you think you lost. Does next week work? Thanks, Preston

There were a number of chilis that were rotten and had to be discarded also a number were totally red and that was not what I had expected. Wanted green chilies

This is our third year ordering hatch chiles. We usually have about 1/8 to 1/4 of them with some rot by the time they arrive. I usually just let it go. However, this time the 25# box arrived wet on the bottom and the UPS man said his eyes were burning. Half of the box was rotten, runny, and wet. Very disappointing. They are being replaced, so that's good. I think they need to be shipped the day they are picked on a freezer pack or something. Losing so much during shipping and within 1 day of opening is unacceptable. Thank you to them for replacing the box however the replacement box was not a full replacement. It was only half my original order. Unfortunately, many of those were also ROYTEN upon arrival, too. I fully expected a refund based on their inability to for fill my order properly. Instead, months later, I am still getting request to amend my review based on the fact that they sent out a replacement order. Again, the replacement order was rotten as well it was not a full replacement order so there is no way I’m going to amend this review. A refund should’ve been forthcoming.

You failed me as a customer in this order many times. Very poor customer service. Having said that going forward I believe in business everybody can have a hiccup. However its how you recover that will keep me coming back.

Charlene, As has already been explained via email, FedEx misprocessed some upgraded shipping labels for us when your original order was shipped. The following week, we were rained out. It looks like a second re-ship is scheduled to go out today. Is there something which you think could have been done better here? Thanks, Preston

I bought hot not sure if because it's early in the season but it's really really mild. My mother usually orders from you and hers wasn't this mild.
