So, I had to go work in France for six months and decided to send a large parcel with DPD instead of getting it with me on the plane. That was the biggest mistake in my whole life. I sent it on the 1 of September just before my flight and expected it in like a week or so. Good, two weeks pass, however, and no sign of my parcel (which was just a large suitcase), I call the local DPD shop (Rennes, Brittany, France) and they told me that they will deliver it in a day or two, after a day or two I call them again, and I get the same answer, after another three days, I call them and they just tell me that they have sent it back to the UK and to sort things out I have to call DPD UK, I call them and they tell that I have to wait until the parcel has arrived in the UK and then someone has to send it again for me (and that person obviously has to pay both the return trip and the delivery), so basically I really wanted to learn the reason for all this, turns out they couldn't find my address and instead of calling me they decided that the best idea was to send it back home. OK, so I tried to swallow all this somehow and had the parcel sent again, this time they decided to actually show up at my address (this time they magically found it) but since I live in a residential park they have to go to the reception where they refuse all deliveries for some reason (tried to speak with them but my French is not perfect and they do not speak English) so I called DPD and told them instead of going to the reception just call me, I will come down to pick my parcel up. However, they steadfastly refuse to that, why, because I have only my British phone number, and so I call them, they tell me they will deliver it and will call me, then on the next day they just go to the reception, are refused and there is no call. I have had to call them 3 times so far, they are truly the worst delivery company.

Unbelievably bad. All they needed to do was to deliver a parcel to a shop that was open 9am to 8pm where I would go out of my way to collect from. Why? Because I didn't want their driver to turn up at my house when I was not in and have a wasted trip. Parcel delivered to shop and email sent saying I could collect it. All good. Get to the shop, no parcel. Go back into the tracking information and it now says that it is being returned to the sender for absolutely no reason. No update email provided saying that the parcel is no longer at the shop awaiting collection (notwithstanding the 4 hour gap between collection and my arrival at the shop). Tried to resolve online - not possible. Online service says that the parcel is still at the local depot. Phone up and get a recorded message saying the parcel is at a different depot at the other end of the Country. Hold for c. 20 minutes to speak to a person who "calls" the depot and instructs them to send the parcel back out to the pick up location. I will get a call back in an hour to confirm progress. 4 hours later, no call...so I go online again. Parcel now marked as being returned to the sender (again for no reason). Phone customer services again, wait 20 minutes on hold to speak to someone who AGAIN advises she will deal with the depot and get the parcel sent out to the pick up location. I will receive a call in an hour. 2 hours later, no call. Back on to customer services. Another 20 minute wait to be told that the parcel left the depot to be returned to the sender an hour ago (so after my second call, and an hour after the time marked on the system stating that the parcel should not be returned to the sender) and there was nothing she could do. Ask to speak to a supervisor to be told that she couldn't transfer me to a supervisor but she would get someone to call me back. Funnily enough, the idea of someone calling me back does not fill me with confidence. Company who sent the parcel contacted in the hope they stop using DPD who, it would appear, are a delivery company who can't deliver. I have emailed Sinead Croke and had what would appear a stock response (I am in meetings, I will get my executive team to look into it)...Again, I don't hold out much hope there.

The best companies encourage customer feedback and use it to strive for the best service. The best companies respect and value their customers realising that they have a choice and that the market is often very competitive. The best companies are determined to resolve customers issues truthfully and effectively. The best companies do not leave their customers waiting on the phone for an eternity listening to condescending messages that insult their intelligence. The best companies are polite, truthful and respectful to their customers. The best companies are answerable and accountable to their customers. DPD fails on all counts in my experience - worst delivery company and it would be impossible to get a worst Customer Services. DPD are so unreliable and clearly badly managed.

To the last reviewer - I think you will find she is in charge of 'Customer Experiences' A very grand title and judging from the customer experiences in these reviews worth no more than a minimum wage for discouraging any customers to have the audacity to complain or expect better and for keeping them from doing anything productive as they wait forever to get through listening to crass prerecords !!! - Awful company who call themselves the 'experts' on their vans ...If DPD are the experts what chance ?? fortunately the competition has stepped up as DPD spiral

Parcel originally due to be picked up on Tuesday, saw driver outside at 4:45pm, door bell & knocker did not ring or knock. Husband went out and driver said off satellite system so he could not take it. Rearranged for today, no door bell or knocker sounds again. Happened to take delivery of fence panels during same period as DPD customer service claims DPD van at address no one came to door. Is universal credit a better option???

I have just tried ringing customer services about yet another failed priority delivery. I waited 37 minutes to get through listening to automated excuses for the delay which would suggest that they might be inundated with complaints ! Then there is this rediculous message from someone apparently called Sinead Croke (great name!) lecturing in a very condescending way about customers behaviour and no excuse for being rude. Unbelievable way to greet customers after frustrating them so much before getting through. When I eventually got through to a human they were useless and clearly trying to fit my complaint into a stock scripted answer which was totally irrelevant to my situation. They were just not listening or understanding the simplest information. Out of frustration I asked to speak to a supervisor who eventually came was put on and he was just extremely rude with me and dismissive of my complaint and situation. I wanted to complain about his behaviour (said his name was Josh ?) and asked for the name and contact of a senior person who might be interested and have the ability and desire to try and resolve the most basic of problems. He refused to give me any information on this other than to go on the website and send an email. He then put the rudely put the phone down on me without any atempt to resolve my failed delivery or leave me with any reasurance that my parcel had not just been lost. So Sinead Croke if this is the best you can do then I hope that DPD might see where some of the rot stems from if they are interested. The impression I get from reading the many complaints is that my experience is fairly typical of an unreliable delivery service, misinformation and apparent contempt of customers. Ringing Customer Services is a very unpleasant and frustrating experience where they appear to be absolutely useless at all levels...to have to be rude and condescending to the customers who they treat with utter contempt is a very clear sign that their days are numbered and they must know it! I will never use DPD again and I will always check who my suppliers use and if it is DPD I will not buy from them and tell them why.

Previous deliveries went to the wrong address and although I had caught up with the driver he thought he could tell me my street does not exist even though I was standing on it. He also allowed the person he delivered to to sign my name on said documents. ( FRAUD and solicitors are getting involved). Today’s delivery was due yesterday only to be told the address is wrong on it so got address changed only for dpd to now have lost parcel (conveniently). This company needs to be scrapped and start again if you ask me.

May I suggest that Sinead Croke head of Customer Experience tries sending and receiving parcels using DPD and tries to get through to her own customer services to see if she can find any staff who can help and not just be rude, confrontational, dishonest and ignorant...that is when shes not greeting customers after their 40 minute wait to get through with a recorded message about not being rude etc etc ...such hypocrisy ...she should be sacked managing the worst customer experience ever !!!! they couldn't care less about their customers in my experiences with them and clearly many others from their reviews.....DPD is on the way out with talent like this !!! AVOID! and companies who shill usw them..you ware probably losing business through their unreliability and couldn't care less contempt of their customers....Truley aweful company and I guess this drips down from truely aweful management.

Missed a call from them which they took to mean "everyone stop the whole operation, she's gone awol, let's not even attempt to deliver the item anymore". With no opportunity to call the number back because it was an automated message saying "if we need you, we'll call you back". Then got a text saying when I should expect my driver (around an hours time), after watching them update their own tracking system to say that it's being returned to the depot. Pathetic. Would give it 0 stars if I could. Don't use this service if you'd actually like to receive your parcel.

I paid for next day delivery but my parcel did not arrive, I was not refunded the delivery charge until I contacted them myself. It has been two days and dpd have made no attempt to contact me regarding my delivery and I am still not aware when it will arrive. Best thing to do is avoid this delivery company at all costs.

Ordered a software update for a job I needed. Got text from DPD saying it would be with me Friday afternoon.....driver could not find my address, I live less than 2 miles from the DPD depot in West London. Promised delivery before 10.30am Saturday....no delivery they forgot to put it on the van. Promised delivery before 12 noon Sunday...... parcel not delivered no reason given for non delivery. Monday my job has been cancelled because I could not gurantee delivery.. Parcel is still at depot and Gear4Music have asked that DPD return and they have issued me with a new one. It might arrive tomorrow.... I am not holding breath. Why the bad review? Because people need to be told how bad DPD are and that companies should think before using them. DPD have cost me this week. DPD do not care I have had poor service from them in the past. I emailed Sinead Croke head of Customer Experience. I included the parcel number in the title of my email, her first question was 'can you provide me with your parcel number?' Attention to detail is not DPD's strong suit. I have had bad service from them in the past.I will not deal with businesses who use DPD and I strongly suggest that others follow suit.

Awful company to deal with, customer service a joke. Makes no attempt to contact individual when trying to deliver when you leave instructions to do so, just leaving a BLANK card, in a block of flats, rather than doing what has been instructed. Avoid at all costs.

After having booked the day off to wait in for delivery, I was greeted with a text message from DPD stating that no-one was in (despite me taking the day off and never leaving my flat), further to that the picture they provided as evidence of having attending the address was of a completely different flat! After filing a complaint on their online website, I have received no reply, and any attempt to speak to a customer service rep has been fruitless. I can safely say that I will never be using DPD again, truly awful service.

VERY BAD CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE. Asked for my parcel to be sent to my local safe place shop, had a text message to say it had been delayed & would deliver again next day, had no response so when I chased up online, chat time got depot to call me back to say it had not been delivered due to 'a scanning issue' & I could collect from Smethwick depot next day however next day I waited there 2 hours, no one seemed bothered to help as twice in the 1st hour, when I asked where my parcel was I could hear man in background saying 'is anyone looking after customer collections'. Eventually a staff member came to the front to say the parcel was not delivered to the safe place as 'the parcel was too big to leave' & now they could not find the parcel so I then called the back office to speak to a manager & was then put on hold for 30 minutes by a 'very unhelpful' adviser until I rang off & tried again to be eventually told that no one had sent an email to arrange for my parcel to be at customer collections for pick up, they spoke with the assigned driver who said he saw the parcel in his bay but never took it out for delivery & a floor manager could not find the item anywhere so they had no idea where it was. Overall there were so many areas DPD failed to deliver a basic service, lack of communication with customer as well as each other, no one taking any ownership to resolve a problem so I will not be using this company ever again.
