“Everything has run very smooth until I still haven't received my 25 lbs of xhot Hatch Green Chiles. I could of drove there many times and would have my chiles. When I sent a email they were going to be resent on the 13th. I paid for 2 day delivery. I still haven't received anything but the 5 lbs of mild ones. I feel that they should been resent overnight due to all the problems I have had getting them. These were suppose to be a gift and they are still waiting.”

HI there! UPS is indicating that the box was delivered the day you wrote this review. If it arrived in good shape, would you be willing to revise this to reflect the quality of what you received? Anytime the carrier makes a mistake (as they did with your order) we do our best to make things right. In this case, re-shipping the entire box was what was deemed appropriate and it appears the re-ship was delivered on time. Please let us know if there is anything else we can do for you.

“The Hatch Chiles arrived packaged to keep items cold. The temperature of the chilies I chose were Medium. They were perfect to the taste. Tasty and not HOT. I'm thrilled with my order and will order again. Thank you, LES”

Hi Sharon, Red chile hasn't started to be harvested yet so please expect it to ship in mid October. Red chile is mature green so we have to wait on nature, unfortunately :) Best, Preston

“The chile was very tasty but I ordered medium hot because I didn't know how hot it would be. Could go for something a lot hotter. Do you carry samples? Might help me to choose better next time.”

Hi, unfortunately we can't do samples as the shipping would be 10 times the cost of the product itself. The smallest quantities which can be economically shipped are 5lbs for our fresh and frozen products. I wish things were different but UPS/FedEx/USPS control shipping costs!

“I called customer service and got a detailed answer to my question. Very nice to have a real person on the phone for a change. They had upgraded my order to second day air because I failed to see the selection on the website and it defaulted to ground. That was all very nice but second day air to my location turned out to be at least 56 hours probably more (I received them at 8 p.m.) from their freezer to my hands. Needless to say the chile was completely thawed even though it was in a styrofoam chest. The Hatch chile store really should invest in some of those gel freezer paks and throw them in the container. That would have helped. The chile was still cold though so I refroze it immediately. I haven't had a chance to make rellenos yet but the chiles are nice sized, roasted and peeled so I expect them to be very good.”

Robert, we actually use dry ice and there isn't room for an additional gel pack. If the chile was still very cold, it is fine to use. If not, please let us know and we'll get a re-ship out. It looks like your box was picked up at our warehouse at 5PM and delivered at 8PM so it was in transit for 50 hours. Not good but still manageable most of the time. It may have sat out on a hot tarmac at some point in transit as orders usually stay frozen for up to 56 hours the way we pack.

“I ordered medium and it's not hot at all. More what I would expect of mild flavor, but it does have a good flavor, and closest I can get without living in NM. Love how the product is packaged!”

“The chilis were great! Very meaty and flavorful. However, I didn't realize I was buying raw chilis when I placed my order. I was a little disappointed to find 50 lbs of raw chili sitting at my doorstep. I thought they would be roasted and frozen. That could be my error for not reading everything. It all worked out because I found a farmer's market who would roast them for me after a small fee. Worth EVERY PENNY!”

Hi Andrea! We offer both fresh and roasted on the website. If you want roasted in the future, be sure to order our "roasted" products, not our "fresh" products.

“My order was delayed because of weather.I paid extra to get it here on time but it arrived a day late.The chile was in good shape but not the size or quality I expected. Paid $60 for 10 pounds including shipping.Not a very meaty chile and only a few long ones.But excellent flavor.”

“I ordered two 25 lb boxes of hot (Sandia) chilis using 3 day shipping. I live in SC. Around 5% of the chilis had bad ends which I cut off but used the rest of the pepper. The rest of the chilis were in great shape. The chilis were not as hot as the ones I ordered last year and did not look like Sandias. They were much larger than what I expect from a Sandia. I lived in New Mexico for 4 years and grow Sandias in my garden and thus I believe I was sent medium (big Jim) peppers instead of Sandia. Nonetheless, the chilis have decent (medium) heat.”

“Because the shipping and product are great i gave it 4 stars. It would be 5 stars but i felt i had to call to get the product shipped. It was 2 weeks when i called and the product shipped a couple days later. The peppers are great and the support when you call are very helpful.”

“I grew up in the San Luis Valley eating Hatch chili my whole life. I retired from the military and now live in the San Diego area and for many years have been getting my chili by having my family still living in the area putting some away for me and then driving down to get it. I love that I can get it sent directly to me at a fair price and can roast and store in the size of packages that I want. I ordered the Big Jims this time because my supply of the Hot from last year was still sufficient. I rated the chili overall as good because the has great flavor and fairly meaty. The only reason I didn't rate it as Very Good was because the batch I received was pretty scarred up but it did not effect the taste that I noticed.”

“The chili was received in a very timely manner. I thought the shipping cost was a little high, not the fault of the chili store though. I was happy to be able to have a source for hatch chili since moving from the area. However there were several chili that were picked premature and with the high cost of shipping, I feel that should be control better. When I lived in that area I never found any premature chili in what I purchased. Take care of that and you'll get Five Stars with High praise. Would upload a photo but everything is roasted, pealed and in the freezer.”

“Delivery: Excellent, Website: Excellent. But $30 for 5 lbs.? About 5 times too much. Granted, they pay shipping, but if they charged a "normal" price and I had to pay shipping, my guess is that it would be about $2 a lb. rather than $6 a lb.”

“The ordering and shipping process were very good. I was notified when my chiles would ship and they arrived on time. I was disappointed in the color, light green and yellow, and the lack of aroma when I opened the box. Also they lacked the aroma when roasting and the chiles were not as flavorful as expected. I expressed my concerns via email and Preston responded quickly and explained why the color was off and assured me there was no loss of flavor. My wife and I disagree since we are the ones tasting the chiles. We now have chile for the winter but it is not as good as what we had experienced from previous green chiles over the years.”
