“I am writing this review to express my extreme dissatisfaction and frustration with Telkom's services, which have proven to be utterly abysmal and incompetent in every conceivable way. My experience with Telkom has been nothing short of a nightmare, filled with endless issues, poor customer service, and a complete lack of accountability.
First and foremost, the internet connectivity provided by Telkom is abysmally poor. Despite their grand promises of high-speed internet, I have consistently faced slow speeds, frequent disconnections, and extended periods of downtime. It's almost as if Telkom's network infrastructure is perpetually on the verge of collapse. I have lost count of the number of times I have been in the middle of important online work, only for the connection to drop suddenly and without warning. This kind of unreliability is completely unacceptable in today's digital age, where stable internet access is a basic necessity.
Adding insult to injury is Telkom's horrendous customer service. Trying to get in touch with a representative is an exercise in futility. Their customer service hotline is perpetually busy, and on the rare occasion that I do manage to get through, I am met with unhelpful and apathetic agents who seem more interested in passing the buck than actually resolving any issues. On multiple occasions, I have been given contradictory information, transferred between departments without any resolution, and even outright ignored. It's as if Telkom's customer service exists solely to frustrate and infuriate its customers.
The billing process is another area where Telkom fails spectacularly. I have been overcharged on several occasions, and each time I have to jump through hoops to get the charges corrected. The billing statements are often confusing and riddled with errors. It's infuriating to have to constantly monitor my bills and fight to get back money that Telkom has erroneously taken from me. This level of incompetence in handling something as straightforward as billing is simply unacceptable.
To make matters worse, Telkom's technical support is utterly useless. On the rare occasions that a technician has been dispatched to address my connectivity issues, they have either failed to show up or arrived hours late without any prior notice. When they do show up, they seem ill-equipped and unprepared to handle the problems. I have had technicians leave without resolving the issue, promising to escalate it to higher authorities, only for nothing to be done. It's clear that Telkom's technical team is either woefully undertrained or simply doesn't care about providing effective support.
In conclusion, my experience with Telkom has been an unmitigated disaster from start to finish. The poor internet connectivity, atrocious customer service, incompetent technical support, and convoluted billing process make Telkom one of the worst service providers I have ever encountered. I would strongly advise anyone considering Telkom's services to look elsewhere, as they are sure to be met with nothing but frustration and disappointment. Telkom's complete lack of professionalism and reliability is inexcusable, and I sincerely hope that they take steps to address these issues, though my faith in their ability to do so is practically nonexistent.”
“I have been on 180 for a half and hour trying to get an option to speak to a consultant. How does telkom expect to give self-service if advice is required. This will result in me and many others to cancel our contract. I find this a waste of time. Telkom must now phone me, or advise how do I speak toa human being. I need to speak to consultant. You service is going from bad to worse. I have been a client for more than 20 years.”

“They changed my fibre package on a monthly basis, without my knowledge. Up & down changed over the past 5 months - causing dire financial implications, disconnection and reconnection etc. After logging financial disputes and multiple complaints, the challenges still not resolved. Resulting in me cancelling my contract with them.”
“I am on 120gb data contract, I am not using too much data and in less than 25 days my data is depleted.
What puzzles me is I was on 80gb and I never ran out of data.

“Want to give Telkom a rating less than one star.I contacted Telkom mobile services 081180 and spent the most frustrating morning.Our internet is down since yesterday so I made several calls this morning. Was given an option between English , Afrikaans and other African languages. Chose Afrikaans twice, yet was addressed in English..????Secondly,i know I dialed the correct number but was told it was the wrong number and was transferred to another departmentā¦ā¦just to be transferred back to the number I know was the correct one.
My impression was that if they donāt feel like dealing with your issues, youāre told it is the wrong number and transferred or the line is dropped.
They still ask if you would recommend Telkom to anyone?

“Technicians came on Saturday to install neighbors wifi, and switched off ours in the process
They came on monday however problem was not resolved (need I say Technicians would come for 10 minutes then leave for hours repeatedly throughout the day)
No one has been able to resolve our issue.
Even when it works the wifi is super slow and often unresponsive.
I suggest you don't waste your time using telkoms fibre services.”
“Telkom is probably the original service provider in South Africa and I've been with them since the old land-line dial up days. But they seem to have lapsed into complacency. To be fair, once one's fibre is installed it works ok, and rates are, well, average. My HUGE complaint is trying to get to speak to someone in this company, that should be on the forefront of communications. None of their contact numbers work - or no one answers and the helpline numbers for wifi issues, that Telkom themselves put online are 'No longer in service'. I've just tried about 6 different numbers. And if one has a wifi technical issue it's impossible to get hold of someone after hours! That's like offering Roadside Assistance and shutting it down at 23H00. To be fair, if one does get hold of a technician they really do try and sort out the issue, but come on Telkom. Get your act together or at least act like you want to communicate with us clients who pay you for a service. Trying to get hold of you is enough to make one lose the will to live. Time for you to shape up - there's loads of competition out there offering lots of good deals.”
“My contract ended in January 2024. I went to close it end February when debit continued and they confirmed, the next thing Nudebt is threatening with blacklisting if i don't pay.”
“Telkom is a scam.. i bought a cellphone in cash and my mistake was to insure it with them... after 5years of paying for insurance i then lost my phone.. they declined my claim after 5 months of me waiting and strangely continued to make deductions from my bank account... when i asked why š¤·āāļø they then cancelled the insurance.. as if that was not enough... now they tried to deduct even a higher amount of money out of the blue... when i reversed the money they handed me to the credit bereau... imagine... honestly i dont know what they want and why theyre still operating if things are not working for them instead of scamming people like this.. its a shame!!!”
